After the elephants walking on the street of Yunnan, some of the raccoon
dogs (貉), who lived in the forest in the past, are moving into the big city
of Shanghai and becoming humans’ (人类) neighbors these days.
One of the big reasons for the moving is that there are many plants and
pools in the neighborhood. They like to live near the trees and water. What’s
more, many people feed stray (流浪的) cats. Sometimes, raccoon dogs also
eat tasty cat food. Human neighbors are kind and they never drive raccoon dogs
away. Life in the city is very easy and relaxing.
7
But there is also a problem. Lately, scientists found about 3,000 to 5,
000 raccoon dogs in 300 communities (社区) in Shanghai. Some communities
are crowded. Scientists hope some raccoon dogs will move to other places. So
they got smelly tiger urine (尿液) from the zoo and left it on the walls to
scare them away.
