Dear Dr Know,
Can you help me? I follow too many rules at home and at
school. I clean my room every day,and I let my
desk get untidy. At school,I wear my own clothes. I
wear my favourite cap either. After school,I watch TV,but only after I finish my homework, walk the dog,and do lots of other things!
I can’t even relax at weekends, because l practise the violin every day! I never have fun. What I do?
Yours,
Eric

......Every morning, I have to make my bed before breakfast. I have to hurry to school because I can't be late for school. When I'm at school, I mustn't use my phone in class either. And I have to wear the uniform.
After school, there are even more rules! I have to finish my homework first. I can only play basketball after I practise the piano. I can't hang out with my friends on weekdays......

2b
● What do you think of the rules?
I think keeping the room tidy, wearing uniforms and doing homework are important and useful.
● Why is each rule important?
Keeping the room and desk tidy helps to develop good habits and focus on study.
When we wear uniforms,we don’t pay more attention on clothes.
The rule of doing homework and other tasks before watching TV helps to make better use of time.

●Wbat is your advice for each rule?
For the rule of cleaning the room, try to make it a fun activity. For example, listen to music while cleaning or set a timer to see if you can finish it faster each day.
When it comes to clothes and caps, you could ask the teacher if there are special situations or days when you can wear them, or suggest having a “hat day” as a class activity.
Make a plan for your homework and other tasks so you can have more time to relax.
Write a reply to Eric as Dr Know. Give him some advice.
2c
Dear Eric,
I know it can be difficult to follow many rules. But rules can be good for us.
Cleaning your room every day helps you develop good habits of keeping things tidy. If you find it boring, you can try to make it fun. For example, you can time yourself and see if you can clean your room faster each day.
Keeping your room clean and tidy is good for your study. It is easier for you to find things you need for schoolwork. You can use some desk organizers to help you keep things in order.
Wearing school uniforms at school helps you focus more on your studies instead of thinking too much about clothes.
As for doing homework, you can plan your time better. For example, make a list of things you need to do and check them off one by one.
Remember, rules are there to help you become a better person.
Dr Know
Make class rules
In groups, choose one goal that you hope your class can achieve.
3a
project
●learn better ●have fun in school
●get along well ●take care of the classroom
Brainstorm 5-10 rules to help your class to achieve the goal. Write them down.
To get along well, we should:
Always be kind and helpful.
Don’t use bad words.
Say “thank you” when our classmates help us.
Don’t fight with our classmates.
Say “please” when we ask for help.
3b
Share your things with classmates.
Listen to others when they talk.
Help your classmates with their study.
Don't laugh at others' mistakes.
Respect(尊重) everyone's opinions.
Forgive(原谅) others when they make small mistakes.
Work together to design a poster for your rules. Think of interesting ways to present the rules.
3c
Steps for the rule poster :
1. Theme: "In this class, we are family", placed in the center of the poster with large and warm-colored words.
2. Rule presentation: Present the rules in the form of colorful bubbles around the theme. Each bubble should be in a different soft color, such as light blue, light pink, light green, etc., to make the poster look lively and friendly.
3. Pictures: Add some cartoon characters holding hands in the corners of the poster to show kindness.
Share your rules in class. Vote for your favourite set of class rules.
3d
In our class,we must get along well with others. We have to be kind to our classmates. We mustn’t fight with them or use bad words. It is polite to say “Please” when we ask others for help. We should say “Thank you!” when our classmates help us.
In this class, I have:
