In 2016, when I was on the graduate scheme (计划) at Deutsche Bank, Marie Inafidon, chief executive of Stemettes, who encourages girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), was also working there. I didn’t meet her at the time, but I did read an article about her and her career.
Learning at 21 years old about the career of a young black woman’s succeeding in a traditionally white male-dominated industry was one of the most influential things that ever happened to me. It gave me confidence that it was possible to do well in the office and work on personal external project at the same time.
Role models can play a central role in shaping a young professional’s career. They are especially important if you belong to an under-represented group for whom a lack of representation in the workplace can lead to feeling isolated and lacking in confidence. They can help those just starting out, whether or not they are a graduate as I was, to believe in their own abilities.
There’s a growing need to have accessible role models. Given the tendency to exaggerate (夸大) success stories, hearing from women who talk honestly about the challenges they have faced, either when starting a business or forming a new career path, is much more effective. A study revealed that 70 per cent of girls say they think differently about their futures after hearing from women role models.
I’m frequently asked about what businesses could be doing to increase racial diversity in the workplace. A good starting point is to actively promote and support the voices of the people in the organisation that are leading positive change and inspiring others. This makes a real difference. Unlike the tokenism (装样子) I still come across, which results in individuals being made the lone representative for a group without real support from the organisation.
Things came full circle for me when I interviewed Ms. Inafidon for my book in 2019. I was able to tell her of the incredible impact her passion and confidence had had on me as a graduate trainee and how grateful I would always be for that.
24.What do we learn about Marie Inafidon?
A.She became successful at 21.
B.She was a trainee at Deutsche Bank.
C.She encouraged girls to take up STEM-related work.
D.She helped the author with her external project personally.
25.Who can benefit most from role models in the work place according to the third paragraph?
A.Experienced professionals. B.A graduate eager to succeed.
C.People without special abilities. D.The young from an under-represented group.
26.What is effective in changing girls’ mindset?
A.Taking on challenging projects.
B.Reading more made-up success stories.
C.Starting their own business as early as possible.
D.Listening to women role models share their experiences.
27.What should businesses do to increase racial diversity in the workplace according to the author?
A.Encourage positive opinions.
B.Make more colored people authorities.
C.Include more people of different races.
D.Understand the true meaning of tokenism.
C
Imagine a not-too-distant future, where we each inhabit our own AI-driven digital filter bubble (数字滤泡) , crafted for us alone and designed to serve commercial interests. This future is like 1998’s movie The Truman Show, where the main character unknowingly lived his life within a reality TV show designed by a studio.
Large language models (LLM), won’t turn our lives into reality TV shows. Instead, personalized AI agents threaten to cage each of us in an individualized unreality, profiting from our digital activities and walling us off from genuine connections. Many companies are developing individualized LLM. The principle is that AI will learn about individual users and adapt accordingly. If you’re a superfan of a football team, you’ll be fed updates and ads tailored to your interests.
This may sound harmless. But the next step is to use LLM to create memes (模因,网络梗), or even fake articles. This is a miserable reality because there are neither computational methods nor moral guidelines in place to ensure that the information you receive is true. But just as frightening as the lack of regard for the truth is an even scarier element. You will no longer have such an accurate understanding of the football team as anyone else’s. You will run on information generated only for yourself. This vision is unsettling, even in sports and entertainment. But what of education? Politics?
With the fall of the press and division of everything, conversations around holiday table have already become impossible for many extended families. Bad as the current situation might be, stranger times lie ahead that make us long for today’s echo chambers (信息茧房). Soon, our bubbles will become smaller and smaller, until our digital worlds involve only ourselves. As a society, with no shared understanding of the world, we will be completely incapable of making fruitful collective decisions.
What’s the way out? Find your entertainment in spaces with actual people, exchanging thoughts and creations with each other. Even online, we must keep our understanding of the world grounded in human-authored documents and artifacts. Valuing what humans create is not merely a matter of realness; it also ensures we focus on arguments that an author cared enough to make, on conversations that speakers cared enough to have.
28.Why is The Truman Show in Paragraph 1 mentioned?
A.To make a comparison. B.To illustrate a situation.
C.To support an argument. D.To propose a suggestion.
29.What may personalized AI agents do according to the text?
A.Cutting individuals off in false realities.
B.Confirming the credibility of the content.
C.Standing by the companies’ moral values.
D.Improving user behavior by feeding targeted ads.
30.What can be inferred from the text?
A.AI has raised concerns over privacy.
B.LLMs are in need of faster tech upgrade.
C.Echo chambers weaken collective decision-making.
D.Technology development results in a divided society.
31.Which would be the best title for this passage?
A.AI and the Future of Human Interaction
B.AI Will Turn Our Lives into The Truman Show
C.The Truman Show Predicts AI’s Impact on Media
D.Digital Bubbles and the Value of Human Creations
D
Wilderness
“In wilderness(荒野) is the preservation of the world.” This is a famous saying from a writer regarded as one of the fathers of environmentalism. The frequency with which it is borrowed mirrors a heated debate on environmental protection: whether to place wilderness at the heart of what is to be preserved.
As John Sauven of Greenpeace UK points out, there is a strong appeal in images of the wild, the untouched; more than anything else, they speak of the nature that many people value most dearly. The urge to leave the subject of such images untouched is strong, and the danger exploitation(开发) brings to such landscapes(景观) is real. Some of these wildernesses also perform functions that humans need—the rainforests, for example, store carbon in vast quantities. To Mr.Sauven, these ”ecosystem services” far outweigh the gains from exploitation.
Lee Lane, a visiting fellow at the Hudson Institute, takes the opposing view. He acknowledges that wildernesses do provide useful services, such as water conservation. But that is not, he argues, a reason to avoid all human presence, or indeed commercial and industrial exploitation. There are ever more people on the Earth, and they reasonably and rightfully want to have better lives, rather than merely struggle for survival. While the ways of using resources have improved, there is still a growing need for raw materials, and some wildernesses contain them in abundance. If they can be tapped without reducing the services those wildernesses provide, the argument goes, there is no further reason not to do so. Being untouched is not, in itself, a characteristic worth valuing above all others.
I look forwards to seeing these views taken further, and to their being challenged by the other participants. One challenge that suggests itself to me is that both cases need to take on the question of spiritual value a little more directly. And there is a practical question as to whether wildernesses can be exploited without harm.
This is a topic that calls for not only free expression of feelings, but also the guidance of reason. What position wilderness should enjoy in the preservation of the world obviously deserves much more serious thinking.
32.John Sauven holds that_____.
A.many people value nature too much
B.exploitation of wildernesses is harmful
C.wildernesses provide humans with necessities
D.the urge to develop the ecosystem services is strong
33.What is the main idea of Para. 3?
A.The exploitation is necessary for the poor people.
B.Wildernesses cannot guarantee better use of raw materials.
C.Useful services of wildernesses are not the reason for no exploitation.
D.All the characteristics concerning the exploitation should be treated equally.
34.What is the author’s attitude towards this debate?
A.Objective. B.Disapproving. C.Sceptical. D.Optimistic.
35.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
CP: Central Point P: Point Sp: Sub-point(次要点) : Conclusion
A. B. C. D.

Picture this: you’re tramping through the rugged wilderness, surrounded by towering trees and breathtaking views. The sense of adventure is exhilarating, but what happens if you take a wrong turn or find yourself in an emergency? 36 It is a small device that is on a satellite network with good coverage across New Iceland. When you go adventures, PLBs can make a difference in ensuring your safety.
Peace of mind
The idea of carrying a PLB provides a significant boost in peace of mind. 37 Whether trekking through familiar trails or venturing into uncharted territory, a PLB ensures you’re never truly alone in an emergency. Equip yourself with this essential device and hike with the confidence that help is always within reach.
Reliable connection
Unlike mobile phones, which can lose signal or run out of battery, PLBs are designed to work in the most challenging environments. They operate on dedicated frequencies and have excellent batteries that can last for years without needing a charge. 38 A PLB’s signal can penetrate dense forests, deep canyons, and even stormy weather, ensuring your call for help gets through.
39
Investing in a PLB doesn’t have to break the bank. Prices for these devices have become more accessible and considering the potential cost of an unplanned search and rescue mission, a PLB is a small price to pay for your safety. 40
A PLB is necessary for any serious tramper. Its ability to provide a reliable, lifesaving connection to rescue services, regardless of your location, cannot be overstated.
A.Spot tracker
B.Affordable Safety
C.This reliability is crucial when every second counts.
D.If you can’t afford one, they are readily available for hire as well.
E.This is where a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) becomes an invaluable tool.
F.They use a different network to PLBs and have less coverage and a weaker signal.

Cookies for Forgiveness
Last week, a U-Haul truck pulled up across the street, and a college student unloaded a Ping-Pong table onto his front lawn. To most, it might seem harmless, but to me, it was a trigger. In my town, a Ping-Pong table on a lawn isn’t just for games — it’s a beer-pong table, a symbol of late-night noise and chaos. Years ago, my husband and I lived near the university, surrounded by students who turned beer pong into a lifestyle. The thumping bass and laughter kept us awake night after night. We eventually moved to a quieter neighborhood, at great expense, to escape it.
So, when I saw that table, memories of those sleepless nights flooded back. Anger bubbled up inside me, hot and uncontrollable. I marched over, past the table, and knocked on the student’s door. I demanded he remove it, expecting him to apologize. Instead, he met my rage with defiance. “Who are you to tell me what to do?” he shot back. His words only fueled my fury. I yelled things I didn’t mean, my voice sharp with profanity (脏话). My husband, sensing trouble, pulled me away before things escalated further.
The rest of the day, I seethed (强忍怒火). But by morning, shame replaced anger. I shuddered as I replayed the confrontation in my mind. Why couldn’t I keep my cool? Why did I let something so trivial ignite me? I’ve always struggled with anger — it runs in my family — but I’ve worked hard to change. Therapy, meditation, journaling—I’ve tried them all. Yet, there I was, yelling at a stranger over a Ping-Pong table. I knew I had to make it right.
I turned to what I do best: baking. I pulled out a batch of frozen peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie dough I’d made weeks earlier. The dough balls were my secret weapon, ready to transform into warm, comforting cookies at a moment’s notice. As the cookies baked, the house filled with their sweet, buttery aroma. I let them cool, then arranged them on a plate, my hands trembling.
注意:(1)续写词数应为150词左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I walked across the street, past the offending table, and knocked on the student’s door.

【答案】18.A 19.C 20.C
【原文】
W: Welcome to today’s program! We’re going to talk about noise pollution. We’re usually surrounded by sounds like alarm clocks, automobile engines and traffic. However, these “normal” sounds often cross the line and affect our quality of life. We define them as noise pollution.
Noise pollution has serious consequences for human beings. One obvious negative effect is the hearing problem people can suffer when they are exposed to loud sounds for too long. When it interrupts sleep cycles, people can experience health problems caused by insufficient rest and tiredness, like headaches. What’s worse, noise pollution has also been linked to higher levels of stress and high blood pressure.
To fight noise pollution, turn down the volume on electronic devices. Close doors and minimize the use of loud machinery. As for the things you can’t control, developing better designs for urban space may one day reduce the effects of traffic, construction and industrialization.
Noise pollution has led people to create quiet places. Gordon Hempton, an ecologist, has started the “One Square Inch of Silence”, which exists within the rainforest along the Hoh River within Olympic National Park in Washington. There, you’ll only hear sounds like the whisper of the wind, or the soft flow of the river.

【答案】24.C 25.D 26.D 27.A
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。作者通过亲身经历阐明了榜样的力量。榜样可以在塑造年轻专业人士的职业生涯中发挥核心作用。

25.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Role models can play a central role in shaping a young professional's career. They are especially important if you belong to an under-represented group for whom a lack of representation in the workplace can lead to feeling isolated and lacking in confidence. They can help those just starting out, whether or not they are a graduate as I was, to believe in their own abilities. (榜样可以在塑造年轻专业人士的职业生涯中发挥核心作用。如果你属于一个代表性不足的群体,在工作场所缺乏代表性会导致你感到孤立和缺乏信心,那么它们尤其重要。他们可以帮助那些刚起步的人,无论他们是否像我一样毕业,相信自己的能力。)”可知,来自代表性不足群体的年轻人能从工作场所的榜样中受益最大。故选D。
26.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Given the tendency to exaggerate (夸大) success stories, hearing from women who talk honestly about the challenges they have faced, either when starting a business or forming a new career path, is much more effective. A study revealed that 70 per cent of girls say they think differently about their futures after hearing from women role models.

【导语】本文为一篇说明文。文章主要说明了个性化AI代理可能将人类生活变成虚假现实的问题。
28.推理判断题。根据第一段“Imagine a not-too-distant future, where we each inhabit our own AI-driven digital filter bubble (数字滤泡) , crafted for us alone and designed to serve commercial interests. This future is like 1998’s movie The Truman Show, where the main character unknowingly lived his life within a reality TV show designed by a studio.(想象一下不太遥远的未来,我们每个人都生活在自己的人工智能驱动的数字过滤泡沫中,这个泡沫是专门为我们打造的,旨在服务企业利益。这个未来类似于1998年的电影《楚门的世界》,在电影中,主角在不知情的情况下,在一档由制作工作室设计的真人秀节目中度过了他的一生。)”可知,作者在第一段提到《楚门的世界》是为了说明一种可能出现的情况,即我们每个人都生活在自己的人工智能驱动的数字过滤泡沫中。故选B。
29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Instead, personalized AI agents threaten to cage each of us in an individualized unreality, profiting from our digital activities and walling us off from genuine connections. (相反,个性化的AI代理威胁着将我们每个人困在一个个性化和虚幻的不真实世界中,从我们的数字活动中获利,并将我们与真正的联系隔离开来。)”可知,个性化的AI代理可能会将个人隔离在虚假现实中。故选A。
30.推理判断题。根据文章倒数第二段中“Bad as the current situation might be, stranger times lie ahead that make us long for today’s echo chambers (信息茧房). Soon, our bubbles will become smaller and smaller, until our digital worlds involve only ourselves. As a society, with no shared understanding of the world, we will be completely incapable of making fruitful collective decisions.(尽管现状可能很糟糕,但更陌生的时代还在前方,让我们怀念今天的信息茧房。很快,我们的泡沫将越来越小,直到我们的数字世界只包含我们自己。作为一个社会,我们将完全无法做出富有成效的集体决策,因为我们将对世界没有共同的理解。)”可知,信息茧房会削弱集体决策能力,让我们没有对世界的共同理解。故选C。
31.主旨大意题。根据文章第一段“Imagine a not-too-distant future, where we each inhabit our own AI-driven digital filter bubble (数字滤泡) , crafted for us alone and designed to serve commercial interests.(想象一下不太遥远的未来,我们每个人都生活在自己的人工智能驱动的数字过滤泡沫中,这个泡沫是专门为我们打造的,旨在服务企业利益。)”以及最后一段“Valuing what humans create is not merely a matter of realness; it also ensures we focus on arguments that an author cared enough to make, on conversations that speakers cared enough to have.(重视人类创作的内容不仅关乎真实性,也确保我们关注作者用心提出的观点和发言者用心参与的对话。)”
D
A. B. C. D.
【答案】32.B 33.C 34.A 35.D
【分析】本文为说明文,本文客观阐述了不同的人对于怎么利用荒原持有的不同的观点。
32.推理判断题。根据第二段these "ecosystem services" far outweigh the gains from exploitation.。得知John Sauven认为“生态系统服务”远比开发的利益重要得多,由此可推断他的观点是开发荒野有害。故选B 。
33.主旨大意题。根据本段第二句和第三句He acknowledges that wildernesses do provide useful services, such as water conservation. But that is not, he argues, a reason to avoid all human presence, or indeed commercial and industrial exploitation.可知,荒野的有益服务不能作为不开发的理由,故选C。
34.作者态度题。根据第四段I look forward to seeing these views taken further, and to their being challenged by the other participants.就可以看出,作者并没有偏向任何一个观点。只是比较客观的进行阐述。选A。

注意:(1)续写词数应为150词左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I walked across the street, past the offending table, and knocked on the student’s door.

As I walked home, I felt lighter, as if a weight had been lifted.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
I walked across the street, past the offending table, and knocked on the student’s door. When he opened the door, surprise flickered across his face. I forced a smile and held out the plate of cookies. “I’m really sorry about yesterday,” I said, my voice trembling slightly. “I overreacted, and I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that. These cookies are a peace offering.” He stared at me for a moment, then his expression softened. “I guess I could have been nicer too,” he replied. He took a cookie and took a bite. “These are great,” he said, a small smile tugging at his lips.
As I walked home, I felt lighter, as if a weight had been lifted. I was proud of myself for facing my anger and making amends. I realized that holding onto anger only hurts myself in the end. This experience was a reminder that I still have work to do on managing my emotions, but I’m making progress. I looked back at the house across the street and smiled. The Ping-Pong table no longer seemed like a threat. Instead, it was a symbol of a fresh start and the power of forgiveness.

第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
G.Knowing you have a direct line to rescue services allows you to explore more confidently.

When I was 15, I thought I had it all figured out. I was a straight-A student, the captain of the soccer team, and had a close-knit group of friends. But during a match, I suffered a 41 injury — a torn ACL. The doctor said I wouldn’t be able to play for at least a year. For someone whose identity was tied to being an 42 , this felt like the end of the world.

Looking back, I realize my injury was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It forced me to 54 my fears, to grow in ways I never thought possible, and to discover strengths I didn’t know I had. I learned that life isn’t about avoiding 55 — it’s about how you climb back up.
