(南通期末改编)One of my clearest childhood memories is sitting at our kitchen table with my father. He put canvases, paints, and brushes in front of me. Then, he showed me how to mix colours and use different materials. Those were the best days—when we let our imaginations run wild and paint whatever came to mind.
My father's love for art started in a tiny village. Even though he didn't have much money, he never let that stop him. He saved money to buy paints and coloured pencils. Sometimes, he even drew on the walls of his home! At the age of 15, he took a big risk and moved to America alone. After years of hard work, he finally became a US citizen.
As I got older, he continued to give me lessons, teaching me different brush strokes and how to take care of my art supplies. He taught me to find beauty in everything and everyone around me. I grew to love drawing people, as I could highlight the physical features that make everyone unique and beautiful.
But things varied when I started looking at my father's amazing paintings and art on Instagram. Suddenly, I felt like my simple drawings weren't good enough. His landscapes looked so real, while my drawings seemed plain. I looked through my sketchbooks and found something wrong with every single picture. I used to love art more than anything, but I started thinking I just wasn't talented. Instead of practising more, I decided to quit drawing.
My father quickly noticed that I wasn't drawing or painting as much any more. One day, he said. “Mary, I think you should try out for the art school. When I was your age, I dreamed of having a chance to study art, but it never happened.” His words touched me deeply.
So, for the next few months, I got busy. I picked out my best drawings, fixed up the ones that needed work, and filled my portfolio(画夹)with all my art. It wasn't really easy. But when I was in the face of difficulties, I kept thinking about my father's story. Looking back at my pictures later, I could see how much I had improved since then.
To my surprise, I got into the art school! Walking into that place was like entering a whole new world. Everyone there loved art as much as I did. The teachers didn't just teach us to draw better. They taught us to be proud of our unique styles. I used to be shy about showing my art, but now I'm not afraid to share it. Thanks to my father, I've found my love for art again and learned to be confident in my skills.

(辽宁模拟预测)In the past, archery(箭术)was used for hunting. But in modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and a leisure activity. 1._
Learning this skill has been an experience that has impressed me. A number of times my arrows(箭头)missed the target. 2._ The coach, who watches the archers while they practise, noticed that I was in a bad mood and tried to help me. He pointed out that my body should be at or nearly perpendicular(垂直的)to the target and the shooting line. As for aiming, he said, it required handeye coordination(协调), similar to throwing a ball. I listened to him carefully and started to correct my body motion. 3._ When I finally got an arrow to hit the bull's eye, I overcame my selfdoubt and my frustration(挫折)was over. The coach smiled and gave me a thumbsup sign.
I suddenly realised that learning archery is not just about learning the correct motion of shooting. It is of greater importance for an archer to learn to concentrate, to be patient and to persist(坚持). Whenever the arrow missed the target, I told myself, “4._”
Keep walking on the right path and finally we'll reach our goal. This is what I learned from my archery experience.
A.I kept shooting and succeeded.
B.Pick up another arrow and try again.
C.Archery is one of my favourite sports.
D.I continued to shoot and tried different ways to aim.
