We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn‘t look at me . Believing he didn’t want to quit from the bottom of the heart, I made up my mind to spare no effort to motivate him. I told him that he should live for himself, not others, and no matter what happened, all of us would back him up. Lowering his head, David got lost in deept houghts. “As long as you go all out, there‘s no need to care about the outcomes, right?”I patted on his shoulder, softening my voice. Eventually, David’s eyes sparkled, after which he rose to his feet, heading to the starting line firmly.
I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. He was undoubtedly the shortest, but much taller than other runners in my view. The run started. Although falling behind from the beginning, David didn‘t slower his steps. His face got red, but his eyes shone like stars. Loud encouragements surrounnded him, fueling him a lot. Ultimately, he crossed the ending line and hugged me tightly.“You succeeded! ” I said, with tears welling up in my eyes. I finally realized that great bravery and encouragements could break all the obstacles, both physically and mentally.
We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me. I patted his
shoulder gently , “David, no one can laugh at you except when you look down on yourself. ” Hearing my words, David turned to me with tears rolling down his cheeks. “If you are brave to challenge yourself, I will back you up!” I added with passion. He looked up, “I have been preparing for this event, I desire to finish the cross-country run.” His coach heard what David said and clapped his hands with joy-he knew David was more determined than anyone else now.
I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. The
run started. As expected, David fell behind from the very beginning. It seemed that the runway was extremely long for him. Nevertheless, David went all out as if he had forgotten all about his disease. At a point, he tripped and fell down, but he struggled to his feet and kept on running. All classmates and his coach were cheering for him enthusiastically. “Come on! You can make it ! We are proud of you!” they shouted. To everyone‘s joy, he reached the final line, ranking the 9th. He won, not the medal but everyone’s admiration. It was his brave heart and strong determination that made a great difference
