P4
1. What words does Peter use to describe Yaming's work?
2. What does Yaming like about his hobby?
3. What are the similarities between Yaming's and Peter's hobbies?
4. What do you think "The first step is always the hardest" means?
5. How do you usually feel when you manage to do something difficult? Give an example.
Peter uses "beautiful" and "nice" to describe Yaming's work.
Yaming likes doing calligraphy to relax and even likes how the ink smells.
Both of them are taught by their family members. Their hobbies are both difficult at first, and they need to practice a lot. Also, they both find their hobbies meaningful or enjoyable.
It means that when you start doing something new or challenging, the beginning is usually the most difficult. Once you get past the beginning, it becomes easier as you get experience and skills.
I usually feel proud and excited. For example, when I finally solved a very difficult math problem after spending a long time on it, I felt a sense of achievement.
Rules:
Students work in pairs. One is the Questioner and the other is the Answerer.
The Questioner asks 3 questions (not from 3b but can be like 3b's style): 1 easy question (about simple facts), 1 deeper question (about reasons or processes), and 1 extended question (connecting text details with simple personal ideas). All questions must focus on the conversation's details (e.g., who, what, how, why).
The Answerer gives answers based on the conversation and your own experiences or thoughts.
After 4 minutes, exchange roles.
Some pairs will share their questions and answers with the class. The class will check if the answers are correct.
