“Finn, you’re only eleven years old. You don’t need a mobile phone yet. Your sister Franny has one because she’s older and needs it for school.” said Mr. Fogg.
“We’re flying to Paris, Dad,” Finn replied. “How am I supposed to take pictures and talk to my friends?”
“Here’s my old digital camera. You can use it to take pictures.” said Mrs. Fogg.
“Thanks, Mom,” Finn said, but he couldn’t keep his eyes from rolling.
The Foggs spent their first day in Paris at the Louvre Museum. They saw a thousand works of art, including the Mona Lisa. What Finn enjoyed most was watching a lady sketching (画素描) the famous painting.
“That’s really cool!” Finn blurted out.
“Merci, young man,” she said. “Drawing helps me see what is really there.” Finn asked if they could take a photo together. The woman smiled warmly as he took their picture.
Finn found his sister. “You should see this artist,” he told her.
Franny was looking at her phone. “Not now,” she said. “I’m reading about Leonardo da Vinci.”
The next day, the Foggs ate at an outdoor café near the River Seine. The server brought dessert. “This crème brulee is delicious!” Finn exclaimed. He asked the server to take a picture of him posing with his new favorite dessert.
“Oooh, look at this recipe (食谱) for crème brulee,” his mom said, checking her phone. “I’ll make it when we get home.” By the time Mom set her phone down, the waiter had cleared their plates and it was time to leave.
On the last day of the trip, the Foggs went to the Eiffel Tower. Finn used his camera to shoot a video of them rising above the city in the glass elevator. “Look, Dad! We can see Notre Dame Cathedral from here.”
Mr. Fogg was looking at his phone, however. “Did you know there’s a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas? But it’s only half-size!”
Finn sighed.
On the flight home the next morning, Finn sat next to Franny. “That was the best vacation ever,” he said.
He was scrolling through his photos and videos. Franny was looking over his shoulder.
▲ she asked, pointing (指向) at a picture.
“Yes,” Finn replied. “The Arc de Triomphe.” He brought up a picture he had taken of their family. They were all standing in front of the famous monument—looking at their phones.
24.How did Finn feel when he thanked his Mom?
A.Excited. B.Curious. C.Unhappy. D.Afraid.
25.Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ ?
A.“Where is it?” B.“Why were we there?”
C.“Do you like it?” D.“Did we go there?”
26.How does the writer develop the plot (情节)?
A.By asking questions. B.By describing feelings.
C.By showing opposites. D.By giving instructions.
C
“Your personality has three different layers (层),” says Robyn Fivush, a psychologist at Emory University.
First, there are your most basic personality traits (特征), including how open you are to new experiences, and whether you like to be with other people or prefer to be alone, and how stressed out you get in challenging situations. Your basic traits are pretty obvious (明显的) even when you’re a baby. “Some babies are a little bit fussier or a little bit more active or a little bit more smiley. Those can develop into more stable personality traits,” Fivush says. “They stay pretty much the same as you grow up.”
The next layer of your personality is your experiences. If your family is loving and responsive when you’re a baby, that teaches you “the world is a safe and trusting place, I’m going to be OK, my needs are going to be met, and if anything bad happens, I have people to take care of me,” Fivush says. That feeling of trust and security lasts for your whole life, and it tends to make you more confident and capable of dealing with difficulties when you are an adult.
“The third layer is the stories you tell about yourself,” Fivush says. “We all tell stories about our lives, both to ourselves and to other people. Those stories give meaning to your experiences. They can be stories about your own life—like how much you loved your science teacher, what a great time you had when she helped you with your science fair project, and how that made you want to be a scientist. But your family’s stories are equally important.” Knowing about how your parents met, or what your grandmother’s childhood was like, helps you see where you come from. And talking with your family about both the happy and sad times you’ve experienced can help you understand those events more clearly and learn different ways to deal with challenges. Family stories don’t just teach you who you are—they help you figure out who you want to be.
27.According to the passage, which of the following is one of a person’s most basic personality traits?
A.Growing up in a wealthy family. B.Being open to new experiences.
C.Sharing family stories with teachers. D.Understanding events in an easy way.
28.What will a man most probably be like if he grows up in a loving family?
A.Confident. B.Generous. C.Honest. D.Helpful.
29.Why are family stories important?
A.Because they can make your dream come true.
B.Because they can make you feel happy and relaxed.
C.Because they can help you understand who you want to be.
D.Because they can help you deal with any difficulties you meet.
D
Do you think you’re a good listener? Most people would say yes. But studies show that most people seriously overestimate (高估) their ability to listen. The truth is we are generally not good at listening, and our listening comprehension (理解力) drops as we age.
Why aren’t we good at listening? One reason is about the speed at which we think. The adult brain can process up to around 400 words per minute. This means a person thinks more than three times faster than he speaks during a conversation. Therefore, we can easily think about something else while someone is talking to us. Thinking about how you will reply while someone is still talking is one of the most common barriers that stop you from careful listening.
Another reason that leads to our poor listening is our ever-decreasing attention span (持续时间). According to the study by Microsoft, in 2000, the average human attention span was 12 seconds; in 2013, it was only 8 seconds! Our mobile phones often distract us, which can have a negative influence on our listening. Test results have shown that being stopped by a cell phone lowers listening comprehension by 20 percent.
More and more people now realize that listening is a skill that can be developed through practice. Learning to watch a speaker’s body language and emotions carefully, for example, can improve our active listening. Even the simple act of note-taking or making eye contact can help us stay focused while listening.
There are many rewards of effective listening. Research suggests that people who are good listeners make better leaders. And a recent study shows that workers who don’t believe their bosses are listening to them are less likely to offer helpful suggestions and new ideas. As Dr. Ralph Nichols once said, “The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them.”
30.According to the passage, why does the brain’s processing speed prevent careful listening?
A.It causes people to speak too quickly.
B.It reduces the ability to remember details.
C.It prevents emotional connection with the speaker.
D.It allows the mind to pay attention to other thoughts.
31.What does the underlined word “distract” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Change one’s mind. B.Develop one’s interest.
C.Influence one’s health. D.Take one’s attention away.
32.Which of the following sentences is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Taking simple practices may improve listening ability.
B.It is necessary to receive expensive training programs.
C.Good speakers are more likely to become better leaders.
D.The ways of improving listening skills are useless for old people.
33.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To prove listening skills are unchangeable.
B.To describe the influence of phones on people.
C.To give reasons for poor listening and solutions.
D.To compare listening abilities across different ages.
第二部分
本部分共5题,共20分。根据题目要求,完成相应任务。
四、阅读表达(第34-36题每题2分,第37题4分,共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
We do it first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and perhaps every hour in between: scrolling (刷手机).
Scrolling is one of those things that 20 years ago none of us ever did, but now most of us do it hundreds of times a day. You may even be doing it now! But here’s the thing: we know it doesn’t make us happy!
People prefer talking to strangers over scrolling on their phones, a study has found—but that doesn’t always mean we make the right choice.
Researchers from the US wanted to compare the way people expected to feel about doing three activities, and how people actually felt after doing them. These three activities were using a smartphone, having a conversation with a stranger and sitting alone.
One group of participants (参与者) predicted how they would feel when doing each of these activities, giving them a score out of 100. Another group completed each activity and gave them a score out of 100 based on (基于) how positive they felt.
While the researchers thought people might underestimate (低估) the positive (积极的) feelings they would get from talking to a stranger, they didn’t. People predicted this would give them the most positive feelings, and it did!
Another group was given more choices about what to do on their phones: watch videos, text, or scroll social media. Or they could talk to a stranger, or sit alone.
This time, watching videos was predicted to be the most positive activity, followed by talking to a stranger. However, among those who actually did it, the researchers still found that talking to a stranger was most likely to improve people’s moods (情绪). And sitting alone was always last.
So will we all scroll less and talk more?
34.According to the passage, how does scrolling make us feel?
35.What are the three activities that researchers want to compare?
36.Which activity actually gave people the most positive feeling?
37.Will we scroll less and talk more? Why do you think so?

Hello everyone! To me, parents’ love is like warm sunshine, lighting up my growth. It is the most selfless power in the world.
I still remember when I fell seriously ill last winter. My parents stayed by my side all night without any sleep. They took care of me so carefully that I recovered quickly. This moving experience made me realize how much they sacrificed for me. Since then, I’ve learned to be grateful. Now, I often help them with housework and share my heart with them. I will study harder to repay their deep love.
Thank you!

A.her B.hers C.she D.herself
【答案】A
2.________ 4 December 2024, the “Spring Festival” was listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
A.In B.At C.On D.From
【答案】C
【解析】句意:在2024年12月4日,春节被列入联合国教科文组织的非物质文化遗产名录。
考查介词辨析。In在……内,用于年、月、季节等;At在,用于具体时刻;On在,用于具体日期或某一天;From从……,表示起始时间。根据“4 December 2024”是一个具体的日期,需用介词“On”。故选C。
3.Nowadays, some robots are human-like. They ________ walk, dance and chat with people.
A.may B.can C.must D.should
【答案】B
【解析】句意:如今,一些机器人是类人的。它们能够走路、跳舞和与人聊天。
考查情态动词辨析。may可能;can能够;must必须;should应该。根据句意,句子描述机器人具备走路、跳舞等能力,强调“能够”做这些动作,因此应使用表示能力的can。故选B。
4.—What do you think of Frank, Billy?
—Well, he is ________ of all my friends. He can make others laugh easily.
A.more humorous B.the most humorous C.more serious D.the most serious

【答案】30.D 31.D 32.A 33.C
根据“The adult brain can process up to around 400 words per minute. This means a person thinks more than three times faster than he speaks during a conversation. Therefore, we can easily think about something else while someone is talking to us.”可知,成年人的大脑每分钟最多可处理约400个单词。这意味着在对话过程中,一个人的思考速度比说话速度快三倍以上。因此,当别人和我们说话时,我们很容易分心去想别的事情。故选D。
31.词句猜测题。根据“Our mobile phones often distract us, which can have a negative influence on our listening.”可知,我们的手机经常让我们分心,这会对我们的倾听能力产生负面影响,因此此处distract表达为分散某人的注意力,即Take one’s attention away。故选D。
32.细节理解题。根据“Even the simple act of note-taking or making eye contact can help us stay focused while listening.”可知,简单的记笔记、眼神交流能帮助我们保持专注,即采取简单的练习可能提升倾听能力。故选A。

【答案】34.Unhappy./Not happy./It doesn’t make us happy. 35.Using a smartphone, having a conversation with a stranger and sitting alone. 36.Talking to a stranger./Having a conversation with a stranger. 37.Yes. Because the study shows talking to others actually makes us happier than scrolling./Probably not. Because people nowadays depend too much on the phone.
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,通过研究数据对比了刷手机、与陌生人交谈和独处三种活动对人们情绪的实际影响,指出尽管交谈更能带来积极情绪,但人们仍倾向于刷手机。
34.根据“But here’s the thing: we know it doesn’t make us happy!”可知,刷手机不会让我们感到开心。故填Unhappy./Not happy./It doesn’t make us happy.
35.根据“These three activities were using a smartphone, having a conversation with a stranger and sitting alone.”可知,研究者对比的三项活动为使用智能手机、与陌生人交谈和独处。故填Using a smartphone, having a conversation with a stranger and sitting alone.
36.根据“People predicted this would give them the most positive feelings, and it did!”和“the researchers still found that talking to a stranger was most likely to improve people’s moods”可知,实际带来最积极感受的活动是与陌生人交谈。故填Talking to a stranger./Having a conversation with a stranger.
37.开放性问题,答案合理即可,参考答案为Yes. Because the study shows talking to others actually makes us happier than scrolling./Probably not. Because people nowadays depend too much on the phone.

Finn sighed.

"Your personality has three different layers (),"says Robyn Fivush,a psychologist at Emory University.
First, there are your most basic personality traits ()including how open you are to new experiences,
and whether you like to be with other people or prefer to be alone, and how stressed out you get in challenging
situations.Your basic traits are pretty obvious (even when you're a baby."Some babies are a little bit
fussier or a little bit more active or a little bit more smiley. Those can develop into more stable personality traits,"
Fivush says."They stay pretty much the same as you grow up."
The next layer of your personality is your experiences. If your family is loving and responsive when you're
a baby, that teaches you"the world is a safe and trusting place,I'm going to be OK,my needs are going to be met,
and if anything bad happens,I have people to take care of me,"Fivush says. That feeling of trust and security lasts
for your whole life, and it tends to make you more confident and capable of dealing with difficulties when you are
an adult.
"The third layer is the stories you tell about yourself,"Fivush says."We all tell stories about our lives, both
to ourselves and to other people. Those stories give meaning to your experiences. They can be stories about your
own life-like how much you loved your science teacher, what a great time you had when she helped you with
your science fair project, and how that made you want to be a scientist. But your family's stories are equally
important."Knowing about how your parents met,or what your grandmother's childhood was like, helps you see
where you come from. And talking with your family about both the happy and sad times you've experienced can
help you understand those events more clearly and leam different ways to deal with challenges.Family stories
don't just teach you who you are-they help you figure out who you want to be.

Do you think you're a good listener? Most people would say yes.But studies show that most people
seriously overestimate (their ability to listen. The truth is we are generally not good at listening, and our
listening comprehension(理解力)drops as we age..
Why aren't we good at listening? One reason is about the speed at which we think. The adult brain can
process up to around 400 words per minute. This means a person thinks more than three times faster than he
speaks during a conversation. Therefore,we can easily think about something else while someone is talking to us.
Thinking about how you will reply while someone is still talking is one of the most common barriers that stop you
from careful listening.
Another reason that leads to our poor listening is our ever-decreasing attention span )According
to the study by Microsoft,in 2000,the average human attention span was 12 seconds;in 2013,it was only 8
seconds! Our mobile phones often distract us,which can have a negative influence on our listening.Test results
have shown that being stopped by a cell phone lowers listening comprehension by 20 percent.
More and more people now realize that listening is a skill that can be developed through practice.Learning
to watch a speaker's body language and emotions carefully, for example, can improve our active listening.Even
the simple act of note-taking or making eye contact can help us stay focused while listening.
There are many rewards of effective listening.Research suggests that people who are good listeners make
better leaders. And a recent study shows that workers who don't believe their bosses are listening to them are less
likely to offer helpful suggestions and new ideas. As Dr.Ralph Nichols once said,"The most basic of all human
needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them."
30.According to the passage, why does the brain's processing speed prevent careful listening?
A.It causes people to speak too quickly.
B.It reduces the ability to remember details
C.It prevents emotional connection with the speaker.
D.It allows the mind to pay attention to other thoughts.
