一、教学目标
(一)语言能力目标
1. Students can correctly understand and use words and phrases related to exercise and maintaining health, such as: skateboarding, exercise app, play baseball, etc.
2. Students can understand and read short essays about different modes of exercise and their benefits, and obtain key information.
3. Students can use the target language to orally express their favorite sports and their reasons.

1. Cultivate students' ability to obtain, process and summarize information through reading and listening exercises.
2. Guide students to improve their communication and cooperation ability through group discussion and cooperative learning.

二、教学重难点
(一) Teaching focus
1. Master the key words and sentence patterns in the text, and understand the way and reasons why the three students keep healthy.

四、教学过程
(一)Lead in(5 分钟)
1. Play a dynamic sports video, such as basketball game, skateboard performance, etc., to arouse students' interest.
2. Ask the students:What can you see in the video? Do you like doing sports? Why? Guide the students to answer in simple English, such as:I can see basketball players. Yes, I do. Because it makes me strong.
(二)Discussion and sharing(8分钟)
1. Display question: How are sport and exercise good for us? Ask the students to discuss in groups and write down the ideas.
2. Invite several groups of students to share the results of their discussion, and the teacher records some key points on the blackboard.
(三)Reading and filling in the blanks(10 分钟)
1. Students read three passages in 1b to understand the way Xia Tian, Jenny and Steve stay healthy.
2. Let the students complete the blank filling exercises independently, and then check the answers between their deskmates.
3. Check the answers and explain the key words and sentence patterns, such as:encourage sb. to do sth., keep fit and so on.
(四)Read again(7 分钟)
1. Students read the passage again and complete the 1c form, including the frequency of each movement and the reasons for liking it.
2. One student should fill in the form on the blackboard, and the other students should check it by themselves.
3. Teachers should ask questions about the contents of the form, such as:How often does Xia Tian skateboard? Why does Jenny like using the exercise app? Guide the students to answer with the sentences in the passage.
(五)Choose and share(8 分钟)
1. Students to think about 1d questions:Which activity in 1b would you like to try? Give your reasons.
2. Students will first share their choices and reasons in the group, and then select a representative from each group to share in the whole class.
3. The teacher comments on and encourages the students' speeches.
(六)Summary and homework (2 分钟)
1. The teacher summarizes the key contents of this lesson, including the style, frequency of exercise and health benefits.
2. Homework :Write a short passage about your favorite sport and how it keeps you fit.
