A.In a restaurant. B.In a police station. C.In a car. W:Slow down a bit,John. Keep it under 65. We don't want to be pulled over by the police. M:Okay. I just wanted to get to the service station sooner—I'm kind of hungry. 根据材料中“Keep it under 65.”和“I just wanted to get to the service station sooner”的描述可知,谈话应该发生在车内。 抵触,冲突,矛盾 (教材原句)Well, sometimes conflicts will come up,but never for very long. (1)in conflict with 和……有矛盾/不一致 come into conflict with 和…… 发生冲突 归 纳 1 单句语法填空/完成句子 ①For another, fashion is a part of our life which doesn't conflict ______ our studies. ②Our plan to organize an outdoor concert came _____ conflict with the local noise pollution laws. (应用文写作之建议信) The new policy on after-school activities seems to be __________________ ______________ for free time. with into in conflict with the students' need encouragement n.鼓励,鼓舞;起激励作用的事物 (教材原句)The most important thing is that we are always there for each other whenever one needs some help or just a bit of encouragement. encourage vt. 鼓励;怂恿;激励;支持 encourage sb to do sth 鼓励某人做某事 2 归 纳 单句语法填空/完成句子 ①Were it not for your companionship and ______________(encourage),I would not weather the hardships. ②Deeply ___________(encourage) by her warmth and sincerity,he poured out all his trouble he came across. (读后续写之动作描写) With a smile, she gently patted my shoulder and _____________________ ___________. encouragement encouraged encouraged me to open the package 归 纳 disturb vt.干扰,打扰,使中断 (教材原句)Basically, they were making too much noise in their flat in the evenings and it was really disturbing us. (1)be disturbed by/at... 对……感到忧虑/不安 be disturbed to do sth 对做某事感到不安 be disturbed that... (2)disturbing adj. 干扰;骚乱;动乱 3 单句语法填空/完成句子 ①We were greatly disturbed ______ global warming. ②She is disturbed _______ (hear) you have been injured in the accident. ③He was charged with causing a __________(disturb) after the game. ④For most of us,it is a piece of _________ (disturb) news. (读后续写之心理描写) __________________________ many students failed to understand the key points of the difficult lesson. What made me annoyed was that the disturbing noise outside completely disturbed my mind. by/at to hear disturbance disturbing The teacher was disturbed that 归 纳 apologise vi.道歉,谢罪 (教材原句)...and they apologised and said they would make less noise from then on. …… (1)apologise to sb for (doing) sth 因(做)某事向某人道歉 (2)apology n. 道歉,谢罪 make an apology to sb for sth 因某事向某人道歉 accept/refuse one's apology 接受/拒绝某人的道歉 owe sb an apology 应向某人道歉 4 单句语法填空/完成句子/一句多译 ①After realizing how my actions affected him,I knew I owed him ___ apology for my thoughtlessness. ②He apologised _____ his parents for breaking the window while playing football in the yard. Please _________________for the inconvenience this matter has given you. (应用文写作之道歉信) →I have to ________________________________________________ to make Chinese knots this Saturday. Half of the British find it difficult to make friends, and we usually stop making friends around the age of 37. So in order to help fight loneliness,Metro Newspaper has shared the experience from Sarah Hamilton, which is easy to learn. When Sarah Hamilton,a scientist, moved to Carlisle last year, she knew no one.Sarah found starting over made it hard to find her friends. But she decided to try parkrun, which gave her a community of her own and a great group of friends. The mum-of-one understands how hard it is to make friends as an adult and she certainly didn't find it easy at first. She was too nervous to speak to people at the start,so she was just watching what everybody was doing. During the run,she thought they were really speedy and she didn't want to speak to them. But after the race they were hanging around, especially when the weather was lovely, and she sat with a coffee and ended up chatting with others. That's kind of when all that interaction (互动) happened, and now she has a whole friend group. Many of Sarah's closest friends she's met at parkrun don't live in Carlisle—they pass through, but they've liaised, because they meet up often and have lots of common. She also has a big community of friends locally through the fitness events. They often go out for dinner or join in activities like swimming and boxing together. Sarah's tip for those who want to give parkrun a go is to go and watch their local parkrun first to see what it's like. They can even be a volunteer first. She explains,“Volunteering first makes people know they can actually do this and it's alright to just walk in the beginning. Parkrun has a designated (指定的) walker whose job is to be last,so you will never be last and they would walk with you if you want them to.” 1.What can we learn about Sarah from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3? A.She enjoyed living by herself. B.She wanted to be a good runner. C.She was good at making a group of friends. D.She struggled to get used to the new environment. 根据第二段中“Sarah found starting over made it hard to find her friends.” 2.What does the underlined word “liaised” mean in Paragraph 4? A.Faced challenges. B.Made contact. C.Shared feelings. D.Taken breaks. 根据画线词所在句“Many of Sarah's closest friends she's met at parkrun don't live in Carlisle—they pass through, but they've liaised, because they meet up often and have lots of common.” 3.Which statement will Sarah most probably agree with? A.Volunteering makes people knowledgeable. B.Parkrun will help you know yourself better. C.Volunteering as a designated walker is necessary. D.New parkrunners can start with being volunteers. 根据最后一段中“Sarah's tip for those who want to give parkrun a go is to go and watch their local parkrun first to see what it's like. They can even be a volunteer first.” 4.What's the purpose of the passage? A.To advise adults to join in fitness events. B.To show the importance of social interaction. C.To introduce how to make friends through sports. D.To share all the activities Sarah joined in Carlisle. 根据第一段中“So in order to help fight loneliness,Metro Newspaper has shared the experience from Sarah Hamilton, which is easy to learn.” B (2025·河南南阳质检) A dozen girls lined up at a warehouse (仓库) near East Los Angeles,16 miles southwest of the Eaton Fire burning site. Near the back of the line, 11-year-old Jasmine Navarro sat on a plastic chair beside her mom and aunt. She,like many others here, lost all of her belongings in the fire. Inside the warehouse,a 14-year-old named Avery Colvert and a team of volunteers have created a shopping mall (购物广场) for girls who've lost everything, and all in it were free. There were rows of shoes and racks of neatly organized clothing. Everything here was brand-new and trendy (时髦的). Avery, whose middle school was burned down in the Eaton Fire, but whose home did not,got the idea to create this space after her family evacuated just a few days earlier. As soon as fires began destroying LA County houses, residents raced to stock food drives and charity shops with canned food and used clothing. But Avery has put a spotlight on the needs of teenage girls specifically, and created an experience like retail therapy “I thought about myself, and how my appearance is important to my identity and my confidence,” she said. “And these teenage girls lost that piece of identity when they lost all their things.” Avery started the online page Altadena Girls and put out a call for items that the teenage girls want. “I want to be able to give them a sense of normality in their lives when nothing else is normal,” she said. “I want them to walk out feeling confident again.” Within 24 hours,Avery's online page took off. Boxes of clothes from trendy brands poured in. The efforts were powered by dozens of volunteers, mainly Hollywood producers and fashion industry professionals. Avery's mom,Liz McLean, watched from nearby, said,“To see her take action is unbelievable. This is going to be a memory for them that just doesn't go away.” 5.What do we know about the items in the warehouse? A.They were second-hand and outdated. B.They were well arranged and up-to-date. C.They were limited to basic necessities like food. D.They were donated by local schools and producers. 根据第二段中的“There were rows of shoes and racks of neatly organized clothing. Everything here was brand-new and trendy (时髦的).” 6.What inspired Avery to create the free shopping mall? A.The loss of her home in the Eaton Fire. B.Her long dream to set up a fashion business. C.The encouragement from Hollywood producers. D.Her own experience and concern for teenage girls. 根据第三段中的“‘I thought about myself, and how my appearance is important to my identity and my confidence,’she said. ‘And these teenage girls lost that piece of identity when they lost all their things.’” 7.Why did Avery start Altadena Girls? A.To praise the efforts her volunteer team had made. B.To call for donations of items that teenage girls need. C.To educate teenage girls to be increasingly confident. D.To create a platform for fashion industry professionals. 根据第四段中的“Avery started the online page Altadena Girls and put out a call for items that the teenage girls want.” 8.Which of the following can best describe Avery? A.Creative and generous. B.Talented and warm-hearted. C.Caring and humorous. D.Influential and strong-willed. 根据第二段中的“Inside the warehouse,a 14-year-old named Avery Colvert and a team of volunteers have created a shopping mall (购物广场) for girls who've lost everything, and all in it were free.”以及第四段中的“Avery started the online page Altadena Girls and put out a call for items that the teenage girls want.” 故选A项。 Ⅱ.完形填空(每小题1分,共15分) My neighbor Amy had kids the same age as mine,so I invited them over one day for a play date. She had never been to my house before,so I tried to clean the house like my life 1 on it. I really wanted to make a good first 2 when she came through the door because I was hoping we'd be friends. When she 3 with her kids for the play date, she looked around. “Wow!” she said. “Your house is so 4 !” And then she added,“I'm never inviting you to my house.” I thought she was 5 . But over the next four years when we were neighbors, she never, ever did. Our 6 never went anywhere, either. My too-clean house had 7 her from going further, just as we were starting to get to know each other. I learned that same 8 again in a different way when a friend invited me to see her new house. It was very tidy and 9 decorated. I was impressed, considering she had three young children, and wondered how she pulled it off. At the end of the day she whispered,“I can't believe I'm showing you this, but 10 out this room.” She opened a door and 11 me in. This was where everything—I mean everything—from her house had been put away before my visit. The piles of laundry (待洗的衣物) 12 covered the furniture. We had a good 13 about it,and I loved her for that. In my mind, that was the day when we went from being friendly 14 to being true friends. Don't misunderstand me—if someone is visiting,I 15 do some cleaning. But now I'm not trying to impress visitors with my cleaning skills. I'm trying to make them feel at home. 1.A.decided B.called C.depended D.agreed 2.A.expression B.impression C.intention D.invention √ 根据空前的“my life”和空后的“on it”可知,这里是说就好像“我”的生命指望干净的房子一样。故选C。 √ 根据空后的“when she came through the door because I was hoping we'd be friends”可知,作者希望两人能够成为朋友,所以想在邻居第一次进门时给她留一个好印象。make a good first impression意为“留下良好的第一印象”。故选B。 3.A.left B.arrived C.carried D.played 4.A.wide B.clean C.empty D.crowded √ 根据“she looked around”可知,她在作者家四处看,所以应该是她带着孩子们到达作者家时。 5.A.kidding B.lying C.sweeping D.complaining √ 根据上文“I'm never inviting you to my house.”可知,邻居说自己不会邀请作者去她家,并根据下文“But over the next four years when we were neighbors, she never, ever did.” A。 6.A.friendship B.neighborhood C.community D.goal 7.A.protected B.stopped C.forbade D.forced √ 根据上文“But over the next four years when we were neighbors, she never, ever did.” 故选A。 B。 8.A.class B.lecture C.lesson D.word 9.A.poorly B.narrowly C.perfectly D.hardly √ 根据空前的“learned that same”并结合上文作者从邀请邻居的经历中明白了自己干净的房子阻碍了二人产生友谊可知,作者这次学到了同样的一个教训。 C。 10.A.watch B.keep C.check D.knock 11.A.dragged B.brought C.found D.waved √ 根据下文中的“She opened a door”及语境可知,朋友让作者参观一下另一个房间。 12.A.ahead B.alone C.aside D.aboard √ 根据上文“This was where everything—I mean everything—from her house had been put away before my visit.” B。 13.A.confusion B.shock C.surprise D.laugh 14.A.acquaintances B.attendance C.presence D.absence √ 根据上文“This was where everything—I mean everything—from her house had been put away before my visit. The piles of laundry(待洗的衣物) covered the furniture.” √ 根据空前的“went from”和空后的“to being true friends”可知,此处表示两个人从熟人变成了朋友。故选A。 15.A.simply B.merely C.surely D.rarely √ 根据下文“But now I'm not trying to impress visitors with my cleaning skills.”
