Dear Mr. Chen,
We are writing to ask permission to have a voluntary activity.
Our classmate Zhang Ming is a good boy, but his family is poor. And now his father is suffering from a serious illness. He has to stay in the hospital and needs a lot of money for treatment. Life for the family is really hard. We all want to do something to help him.
In order to raise money for them, we plan to have a Book Fair activity this week. All the classmates are going to take some old books to school and sell them for some money. Then we’ll give the money to Zhang Ming. We hope the money can help his father get better soon. We would like to have this activity in front of the school library and the school gate from this Tuesday to Friday. We also hope our teachers and other students in our school can come and join us. Every small act of kindness will mean a lot to Zhang Ming’s family.
Could you please give us permission to have this activity?
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

A
Recently, I asked a friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special,” she replied.
“How was it possible,” I asked myself, “to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note?” I, who cannot see, find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight (视力)? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I would like to see the people who have made my life worth (值得的) living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore (探索) the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight, permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I, who am blind, can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again... But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala had a very popular program. Its name is Wu BOT. In this show, humanoid robots and young martial artists perform traditional Chinese kung fu together. It soon became one of the most popular shows at this year’s gala.
These robots are developed and made by Unitree Technology, a top robot company in China. The Unitree G1 robots can do very difficult actions, such as drunken boxing, nunchaku (双节棍) and parkour(跑酷). They perform on stage with students from Tagou Martial Arts School, which is one of the most famous kung fu schools in China. With high-precision control and stable design, the robots move smoothly and work well with human performers.
In only one year, great progress has already been made. At the 2025 gala, these robots could only dance simple group dances. They were not able to perform difficult kung fu moves at that time. But this year, they finished difficult kung fu movements without any trouble. This big change shows how fast robot control and group work technology are developing.
Wu BOT is not only an interesting stage show. It brings together traditional Chinese culture and modern technology in a creative way. It helps young people look at kung fu from a new point of view. It also lets people know about the latest development of China’s humanoid robots. In the future, these technologies may be widely used in many areas, such as education, public services and daily life.

“Love You, Old Self” — this simple sentence has become a warm thing and a popular phrase among young people in China. When they post photos of home-cooked food or morning coffee with these words, they turn small daily things into a shared way of being kind to themselves. People say it is one of the kindest trends, and it touches many people deeply.
It is more than just a saying. It makes the unclear idea of taking care of oneself become real. It gives comfort when people feel stressed and celebrates small happy moments. The key is to call oneself “Old Self” — a friendly name that lets people step back and talk to themselves kindly, just as they would to a close friend.
This trend is popular for a reason. Today’s young people face a lot of pressure, such as non-stop exams and strong competition for university places and jobs. For example, a high school student in Beijing writes “Love You, Old Self” in her notebook to calm down after a hard exam. In such situations, being gently kind to oneself has become an important way to deal with pressure.
Importantly, this is not an excuse to avoid difficulties. Instead, it helps people build more courage to get through hard times. To say “Love You, Old Self” means to recognize one’s own efforts, to allow oneself to rest when needed, and thus find a healthy balance. It is a cheap but useful way to keep emotions stable. It also changes where strength comes from — from others’ praise to believing in oneself.
In the end, by being kind to themselves, young people are better able to deal with outside pressure. This gentle and steady power helps them find inner peace and shows a true fact: to really care for others, you must first be kind to yourself.
21. According to the passage, how does “Love You, Old Self” help young people?
A. It helps them win more competitions.
B. It helps them make good friends.
C. It helps them deal with pressure and find balance.
D. It helps them get into a good university.
22.What can we know about self-care from the passage?
A. Self-care is an expensive way to relax and reduce stress
B. Self-care means avoiding all the difficulties in daily life
C. Self-care helps young people find inner peace and face pressure better
D. Self-care only needs to be done when people get good exam results
23. Which of the following is NOT a reason why the trend is popular?
A. Young people face a lot of pressure.
B. It is a way to avoid difficulties.
C. It helps young people find inner peace.
D. It gives young people a way to care for themselves.
24.Which of the following sentences is right?
A. The phrase “Love You, Old Self” can help them make more new friends.
B. The phrase shows they are old enough to take care of themselves
C. The trend of “Love You, Old Self” makes the idea of self-care become real
D. The phrase makes young people become lazy and not want to face hard times
25. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How to take good care of oneself.
B. The importance of being kind to oneself.
C. The pressure that Chinese young people face.
D. The popularity and benefits of the phrase “Love You, Old Self”.

We all know how important it is to choose your words wisely. 26 The way you communicate through body language can help you succeed in everything from relationships to your career. Here are some suggestions.
Practice open body language to express confidence and energy. Sit calmly, and be in control of all your gestures. Keep your legs slightly apart so you take up more space. Don’t cross your arms. Instead, let them dangle (悬垂) at your sides. 27
Use hand gestures when speaking to draw others in. Great speakers like to use hand gestures during conversations or speeches. Hand gestures give listeners greater confidence in the speaker. 28 As you talk, use your hands to point things out, or draw people’s attention to a certain area.
Move throughout the room to catch attention. 29 If you have the space, walk confidently from one area to the next. Before speaking again, plant your feet and make eye contact to show that you’re confident and relaxed.
30 The eyes are the windows to the soul. To show respect for someone, make eye contact and nod along as they talk. To show that you’ re attracted to someone, catch their eye and give them a small smile.
A. This shows you are open to other people.
B. Use eye contact to show respect or attraction.
C. They also help better understand the speaker’s words.
D. Don’t just move your hands — move your body, too.

故选 A。
故选 A。
故选 A。
故选 A。
pay attention to 关注;look forward to 期待;take care of 照顾;make connection to 与…… 后文提到 “Small changes like sitting up straight... can make a big difference”,可知此处是建议人们要 “关注” 肢体语言的细节。故选 A。

A
Recently, I asked a friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed.
