“The arrival of ChatGPT will push educators to focus more on teaching subjects that technology is not good at,” a senior education expert said.Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, said he welcomes this development and thinks it gives people the chance to concentrate less on tasks that technology can also do well.
The future is not about technology versus humans. The future is about integrating technology with humans.ChatGPT pushes us to think harder of what makes us human.
“The world no longer rewards you just for what you know.Search engines know everything. The world rewards you for what you can do with what you know, and ChatGPT pushes us to work harder on this.If students are only as smart as a smartphone, it means educators are not doing enough.People should focus on developing human skills that actually are important, such as imagination and creativity,” Schleicher said in an interview with China Daily on the sidelines of the World Digital Education Conference.
The arrival of artificial intelligence(AI) really pushes people to think hard about what education is and the purpose it serves, as well as what knowledge, skills, attitudes and values humans have that complement(补充) AI.
ChatGPT is not connected to the Internet, so it can't replace search engines.Search engines simply extract(提取) knowledge, while ChatGPT goes a step further and analyses a search before providing a single answer. As a device, ChatGPT is going to make learning much more interesting and powerful, but as a purpose and objective, humans need to work very hard to win that race with technology.

In this present age, we are heavily dependent on science and technology.Involving courses such as physics, chemistry and biology, a science-based education system can not only equip the young with knowledge of the rules of the world but also develop their scientific curiosity and problem-solving skills. With the benefits and objective attitude formed when learning, the young have more opportunities to be employed in cutting-edge research projects and big companies. So as for arts or science, they prefer the latter.
However, we still rely much on the arts to understand the world.Literature courses can help students to learn about different cultures by exposing them to various aspects of life and excite their imagination required by out-of-box ideas.Studying politics increases their awareness of the global world.History can enrich them intellectually and socially, providing a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it.Also, arts can develop emotional skills and moral values.
A science-based education concentrating only on the latest scientific developments and breakthroughs may overlook the study of moral values as well as significant historical affairs. For instance, countless possibilities can be realised through cloning, but science does not reveal the moral dilemmas (困境) of its indulgent development. It is essential for students to assess the far-reaching influence of science on the world and realise that it must ultimately be pursued reasonably.
In conclusion, a science-based education certainly has its limitations.Nevertheless, a science-based education combined with enough exposure to values and the humanities(人文学科) would provide students with a deeper insight into the world.

How to Appreciate Classics
Many people do not read the classics.Their reasons begin with the language being too difficult and end with the storyline too distant from the present context. 1 .It is a gradual affair. We begin as acquaintances and eventually become close friends with private jokes between us.So how does one approach a classic?
Don't be afraid to be confused.
We get it: It's hard to power through confusion. It doesn't feel great when a book makes you feel confused.Every reader has to start somewhere. 2 .Instead, be proud of yourself for trying, and get excited about all the new things you'll learn.
Research, research, research.
3 .Researching the author and the time and place of writing can help you situate yourself during tricky passages. The author's experience, viewpoint, and the historical context might help you make the connections you might not have otherwise.
4 .
This step is self-explanatory.While it's not hard to just pick up a book, we know how difficult it can be to convince yourself to do so.Remind yourself that it's a new learning chance.Take a deep breath, then leap onto the deck of Melville's Pequod or step cautiously through the gates of Dracula's Castle.
Remember: There is no right answer.
There is no perfect way to read a classic text. There is no fixed interpretation and no exact answer.Your goal as a reader is to discover what aspects are meaningful to you.Just enjoy the process. 5 !
A.Before you turn to page one, do some digging
B.Just pick up a book and get down to reading
C.A love for classics is obviously not at first sight
D.A good start can help you get out of the confusion
E.Never beat yourself up for not knowing something
F.However, you can get close to a classic immediately you pick it up
G.Even if your interpretation of the work isn't perfect, it's still valuable
