维度四 教材知识迁移(每小题1.5分,共15分)
阅读下面新情景,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
We all know that 1.lying (lie) is wrong, but who can 2.honestly (honest) say that theyʼve never told a lie? Perhaps we comfort ourselves by telling ourselves that most of the lies we tell are “white lies”: little lies that we tell 3.to protect (protect) others from the truth. There are some reasons for telling white lies. First, white lies can make others feel better. When we lie and say someoneʼs haircut 4.looks (look) good, we are in fact lying to protect ourselves from the 5.disappointment (disappoint) and anger of others. Another reason for telling a white lie is to give encouragement. Say for example that your friend asks you what you think of his singing. You of course say that itʼs wonderful, despite secretly thinking that your cat can sing 6.better (well). In fact, perhaps 7.what your friend needs are frank comments. Finally, we may also tell a white lie when we want to protect others from bad news. If you have had a bad day, you hide your tears and lie that your day was “fine” so 8.that your parents would not worry about you. However, wouldnʼt it be better to respect 9.their (they) concern for you and ask for their advice? One day we may find even white lies have results we cannot know 10.in advance.

Ⅰ.阅读理解(每小题2.5分,共20分)
A
Friends are gifts and treasures. When asked to point out one or two things that are most important to themselves, many put friends ahead of homes, jobs, clothes and cars.
A true friendship carries a long history of experience that determines who we are and keeps us connected. It is a treasure we should protect. Unfortunately, the better friends you are, the more probably youʼll have disagreements. And the result can be what you donʼt want—an end to the relationship.
The good news is that most troubled friendships can be mended. First, donʼt let your pride get in your way. Most of us can forgive each other when differences are brought out in the open. Second, apologize when youʼre wrong—even if youʼve been wronged. Over the course of a friendship, even the best people make mistakes. Sometimes, it may be best if the wronged person takes the lead and apologizes. When you apologize, give your friend a chance to admit that he has been wrong. Third, see things from your friendʼs point of view. And finally, accept that friendships change as our needs and lifestyles change. Making friends can sometimes seem easy. The hard part is keeping the connections strong during the natural ups and downs that have an effect on all relationships. My suggestion: Consider friendship an honor and a gift, and worth the effort to treasure and nurture.

I met a beautiful soul yesterday. I went to work with my computer to a local café so that I could have dinner there. It was raining a bit this time and also I was among people. Sometimes when you work from home all day this is in itself a treat. And the magic of the connection sometimes happens—a smile, someone offering you the newspaper, a short conversation with the staff, a peace dove flying past and lots of possibilities for love and kindness.
Well, magic did happen. I heard a man who was speaking with difficulty and very loud. I noticed he could not speak so clearly and he had some kind of impairment(损伤). As often happens, people looked at him or avoided doing so, and then—as if embarrassed or afraid—looked down. In these cases I try to do the opposite. I imagined a person in these circumstances would want to feel included.
So I decided to deliberately look at him and smile. It was an instant! He looked at me, smiled and immediately said hello. With a combination of spoken and body language he asked if he could approach me. I agreed. He introduced me to his friend who taught sign language online and explained that they were both deaf, after which he even told me about his wife and how he loved teaching. I apologised for not knowing sign language and hoped Iʼd learnt. We still managed to have a beautiful “conversation” which made us all very happy. “Iʼm sure weʼll meet again to experience the magic of being and being with others.”

However, since many colleges randomly assign your first roommate, you also run the risk of being matched with someone you find challenging. Either way, hereʼs some good advice.
Establish some rules

Practice direct communication
Practicing direct communication will help you in good times and bad. Dorm rooms are close quarters, so even if you get along with your roommate, there is bound to be a disagreement or two. __3__ You canʼt expect your roommate to be a mind reader, so if you get upset or frustrated, communicate it to your roommate right away. __4__ Youʼll find such way gets better reception and ultimately a better response than if you just attack or criticize.
Compromise sometimes
When it comes to doing chores around the room, listening to certain kinds of music, watching different TV shows and requesting privacy, compromise is the key. If you give a little, your roommate will give a little, too. Compromising does not refer to giving in to all of someoneʼs requests. __5__ So, utilize(使用) positive communication, and talk through the things you and your roommate differ on until you can reach a compromise.
A.Make your preferences known from the start.
B.Instead, it means coming to a mutual agreement.
C.Handle such conflicts with open communication.

G.Getting along with your roommate can enhance your college experience.
语篇解读 本文是一篇说明文。拥有大学室友既有好处也有挑战,作者就如何与室友相处给出了一些建议。
1.答案:G
解析:由上文中的“It comes with both benefits and challenges.”可知,拥有大学室友既有好处,又有挑战,下文“you also run the risk of being matched with someone you find challenging”表示随机分配室友,你也会面临挑战,因此,该空可能会说明拥有大学室友的好处,故G项符合语境。
2.答案:A
下文中的“if you get upset... right away”也是提示,故C项切题,且该选项中的“such conflicts”呼应上文中的“a disagreement or two”。
4.答案:E
解析:根据上文中的“communicate it to your roommate right away”和下文中的“Youʼll find such way... better response”可知,E项顺承上文提出的“沟通”,表明应该用尊重的语气正确沟通,良好的沟通方式能得到更好的回应,故选E项。
5.答案:B
