根据文章第二段“We offer the newest bicycles in a wide variety, including basic bikes with foot brake (刹车), bikes with hand brake and gears (排挡), bikes with child seats, and children’s bikes. 根据文章最后一段“The tour departs from Dam Square every hour on the hour, starting at 1:00 pm every day. (旅游团每小时从大坝广场出发,每天下午1点开始)”可知,导游城市之旅从大坝广场开始。故选D。 【点睛】 B At 17 years old, most are still learning basic driving skills in America. Once the car is parked, the day is packed with school activities and hanging out with friends. But at 17, Maggie Taraska had a distinctive goal in mind: Fly alone across the United States. Both of Maggie’s parents were retired from the air force, so the urge to fly is in Maggie’s blood. She went to flight school, put in the hours with an instructor and started on her training hours. But on her first takeoff, something didn’t sound right. The plane had lost one of the landing gear wheels. “As soon as I took off, I just heard something was wrong instinctively,” said Maggie. Her instructor talked to her from the ground while she circled a few times to gather herself. “I was frightened, thinking about all the bad things that could have happened; I was thinking about how my parents were on the ground as I knew they were watching.” Stress and panic can cause any of us to make careless decisions. It takes mental practice to calm down. “Take a few breaths, focus on the moment and follow the plan. I panicked a bit, but followed my training.” Maggie was a little shaky as she talked to the tower, but she had a perfect belly landing that skidded on the infield grass. Her father couldn’t be prouder. “By the time I saw Maggie on her approach, it was a better approach than I could have flown,” he said. Cheers erupted in the tower, and Maggie took a deep breath and climbed out of the plane. Credit does go to the crew for talking to her. Yes, we all need someone to talk us through challenging times, but in the end, it was all Magic at the controls. We could all be forgiven for calling it quits after an experience like that. After all, it was a bit distressing. So walking away would be understandable. But five days later, Maggie was going through her pre-flight safety inspections, checking the wings, especially checking the landing gear. “It feels amazing,” she said, “It gives an incredible sense of liberation.” At some point in our lives, we will all be in a situation for the first time. It’s scary. But if you face your fears, the whole world opens up to you. 24. What mainly influenced Maggie’s urge to fly alone? A. Her parents’ background in air force. B. Her experience of school activities. C. Her instructor’s encouragements. D. Her basic driving skills. 25. What did Maggie do when hearing something wrong during takeoff? A. She landed the plane immediately. B. She thought of her parents’ expectation. C. She circled a few times to calm herself down. D. She continued flying as if nothing had happened. 26. Which words would best describe Maggie’s personality? A. Proud and intelligent. B. Positive and cautious. C. Patient and responsible. D. Fearless and determined. 27. What can we learn from the passage? A. Failure is the mother of success. B. A good beginning is half done. C. Fortune favors the brave. D. Practice makes perfect. A 25. C 26. D 27. 根据第二段中“Both of Maggie’s parents were retired from the air force, so the urge to fly is in Maggie’s blood.(Maggie的父母都从空军退役了,所以飞行的渴望是她与生俱来的)”可知,Maggie的父母都从空军退役,所以飞行的冲动在玛姬的血液里,即玛姬的父母在空军服役的背景影响了她独自飞行的冲动。故选A。 根据第三段中“Her instructor talked to her from the ground while she circled a few times to gather herself.(她的教练在地面与她通话,与此同时,她盘旋了几圈让自己镇定下来)”可知,当Maggie起飞时听到不对劲的声音,她在空中盘旋了几圈让自己镇定下来。 根据第三段中“I was frightened, thinking about all the bad things that could have happened;(想到可能发生的所有坏事,我很害怕)”,第四段中“Take a few breaths, focus on the moment and follow the plan. I panicked a bit, but followed my training.(做几次深呼吸,专注于当下,按照计划行事。我有点恐慌,但还是按照训练的要求做)”以及最后一段中“At some point in our lives, we will all be in a situation for the first time. It’s scary. But if you face your fears, the whole world opens up to you.(在我们生命中的某个时刻,我们都会第一次遇到这种情况。太可怕了。但如果你直面恐惧,整个世界都会向你敞开大门)”可知,Maggie在遇到起落架故障时,虽然害怕,但还是按照训练要求冷静应对,并且在五天后继续飞行,这表明她是一个勇敢且坚定的人。故选D。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“At some point in our lives, we will all be in a situation for the first time. It’s scary. But if you face your fears, the whole world opens up to you.(在我们生命中的某个时刻,我们都会第一次遇到这种情况。太可怕了。但如果你直面恐惧,整个世界都会向你敞开大门)”可知,在我们的生活中,总会有第一次面对某种情况的时候,这很可怕,但是如果你面对你的恐惧,整个世界都会向你敞开,由此可推知,文章想要告诉我们的是“勇者天助”。故选C。 C Sharks are among the best swimmers on the planet, but a new research suggests that even they sometimes “hold their breath” while diving deep underwater. The reason is that sharks are cold-blooded and their body temperature matches the waters they swim in. To do deep dives, they must maintain body heat, and the best way to do that is to close their gills (鳃). Royer, a leading researcher at the University of Hawaii, set out to study the diving habits of hammerheads sharks. They’re known for swimming in warmer coastal waters, but earlier studies showed they can also dive to over 800 meters below the surface. At those cold depths, the water temperature falls to as low as 5℃. For these sharks, the fall in temperature is a matter of life and death. Because a shark can’t produce its own body heat, it begins to freeze the deeper it goes. Its muscles, eyes and brain become sluggish (迟钝). If it gets too cold, it can’t swim. And if it stops swimming, water doesn’t go across its gills. It can’t breathe and will eventually drown (溺亡). How is it that hammerheads are able to go down into these deep depths and survive? To find out, Royer and his colleagues caught the fish and attached an electronic sensor to each shark. The sensor would release itself from the shark’s body after several weeks. The data they found amazed them: The sharks dived, spent just a few minutes at depths and then they shot towards the surface. They closed their gills and kept water out of their gills so that their body wouldn’t cool down. “Unlike animals with lungs, the sharks don’t return to the surface to breathe. Instead, they simply go to a depth where it’s warm enough for them to feel comfortable and reopen their gills. Hammerheads are probably not the only species doing so. Our work is another example of how new electronic sensors help to explain the extraordinary ability of these animals across 400 million years of changing ocean environments,” Royer said. 28. What does the new research focus on concerning the sharks? A. Their hunting habits. B. Their basic types. C. Their special behaviors. D. Their body structures. 29. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 1 refer to? A. Keeping body heat. B. Holding their breath. C. Swimming on the surface. D. Diving deep in the sea. 30. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about hammerheads sharks? A. How their gills work in the sea. B. How the temperature drop affects them. C. Why they can survive the terrible environment. D. Why they can protect themselves from the cold. 31. What can we know from Royer’s words? A. Hammerheads depend on their lungs to breathe. B. The diving strategy may not be unique to hammerheads. C. It’s hard for hammerheads to adapt to the cold conditions. D. It’s common for hammerheads to stay long at great depths. C 29. A 30. B 31. 根据第一段“Sharks are among the best swimmers on the planet, but a new research suggests that even they sometimes ‘hold their breath’ while diving deep underwater. (鲨鱼是地球上最好的游泳者之一,但一项新的研究表明,即使是鲨鱼,在深海潜水时有时也会‘屏住呼吸’。)”,以及第四段“How is it that hammerheads are able to go down into these deep depths and survive? To find out, Royer and his colleagues caught the fish and attached an electronic sensor to each shark. (双髻鲨是如何下潜到这么深的地方并存活下来的呢?为了找到答案,罗耶和他的同事们抓住了这些鱼,并在每条鲨鱼身上安装了一个电子传感器。)”可知,研究的结果是:鲨鱼在深海潜水时有时也会‘屏住呼吸’,所以研究的重点是研究这些鲨鱼在深海区存活下来的有什么特殊的行为。故选C项。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第一段“The reason is that sharks are cold-blooded and their body temperature matches the waters they swim in. To do deep dives, they must maintain body heat, and the best way to do that is to close their gills (腮). (原因是鲨鱼是冷血动物,它们的体温与它们所游的水域相匹配。为了进行深海潜水,它们必须保持体温,最好的方法就是合上鳃)”,以及第四段“They closed their gills and kept water out of their gills so that their body wouldn’t cool down. (它们合上鱼鳃,不让水进入鱼鳃,这样身体就不会降温。)”可知,that指代上文maintain body heat,要保持体温,就要合上鳃屏住呼吸,与A项“Keeping body heat”意思相同,故选A项。 根据第三段“For these sharks, the fall in temperature is a matter of life and death. 根据最后一段“Unlike animals with lungs, the sharks don’t return to the surface to breathe. Instead, they simply go to a depth where it’s warm enough for them to feel comfortable and reopen their gills. Hammerheads are probably not the only species doing so. D Persephone is a tour guide in Greece, but not the type people are used to. As the world’s first robot tour guide, Persephone has been welcoming visitors since mid-July to the Alistrati Cave (山洞)in northern Greece. The robot covers the first 500 feet of the part of the cave. The robot can give its part of the tour in 33 languages and interact (互动)at a basic level with visitors in three languages. It can also answer 33 questions, but only in Greek. Nikos Kartalis, the scientific director for the Alistrati site, had the idea of creating the robot when he saw one on TV guiding visitors at an art gallery. The robot was built by the National Technology and Research Foundation and cost $ 139, 000. “We already have a 70% increase in visitors compared to last year since we started using the robot,” said Kartalis. “People are interested, especially the children, and people who had visited in the past are coming back to see the robot guide.” Persephone, with a white body, black head and two eyes, moves on wheels, guiding visitors to the first three of eight stops along the walkway. She can do two more stops, but her low speed slows down the tour. Persephone’s creators are considering ways to speed her up. Evdokia Karafera is one of the tour guides who partners with the robot. “It is helpful, because it speaks many languages. There’s just a little delay (耽搁)in the touring,” she said. “Most find it amazing, especially the children, and find it interesting that it speaks many languages.” Karafera said, however, that human tour guides couldn’t be completely replaced. “Robots, at some point in the future, will take over many jobs. But I believe they cannot replace humans everywhere,” she said. “The robot is funny, but can’t replace the human contact with the guide and the conversation we can have on the way back.” 32. What can be learned about Persephone? A. It once guided visitors at the art gallery. B. It was built by Nikos Kartalis. C. It can speak thirty-three languages. D. It is about three feet in height. 33. Why do people who had visited the Alistrati Cave come back? A. To visit an art gallery. B. To see Persephone. C. To learn the Greek language. D. To help Evdokia Karafera. 34. What does Evdokia Karafera think of Persephone? A. Interesting but imperfect. B. Smart but useless. C. Expensive but ineffective. D. Beautiful but slow. 35. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A. Greek: a Difficult Language B. Alistrati: a Cave Worth Visiting C. Robots: a Threat to Human Future D. Persephone: an Unusual Tour Guide 【答案】32. C 33. B 34. A 35. 根据第二段的“The robot can give its part of the tour in 33 languages and interact at a basic level with visitors in three languages.(该机器人可以用33种语言完成部分任务,并用三种语言与游客进行基本互动)”可知,Persephone能说33种语言。 根据第四段的“People are interested, especially the children, and people who had visited in the past are coming back to see the robot guide.(人们很感兴趣,尤其是孩子们,过去参观过的人都回来看机器人导游)”可知,以前参观过的人重游此地是为了看Persephone。 根据倒数第二段的“It is helpful, because it speaks many languages. There’s just a little delay in the touring,” she said. “Most find it amazing, especially the children, and find it interesting that it speaks many languages.”(“它很有用,因为它能说多种语言。只是游览会推迟一点,”她说。“大多数人觉得它很神奇,尤其是孩子们,而且它能说多种语言,这很有趣。”)”和最后一段的“The robot is funny, but can’t replace the human contact with the guide and the conversation we can have on the way back.(机器人很有趣,但它无法取代人类与导游的接触,以及我们在返回途中可以进行的对话)”可知,Persephone会说多种语言,这非常有趣,可以吸引游客,但会让游览推迟,且不能在返回途中和游客进行适当的对话。 故选A。 根据文章的主要内容,尤其第一段“Persephone is a tour guide in Greece, but not the type people are used to. As the world’s first robot tour guide, Persephone has been welcoming visitors since mid-July to the Alistrati Cave in northern Greece.(Persephone是希腊的一名导游,但不是人们习惯的那种类型。 Win and Lose with Grace During my years as an early childhood teacher, I learned very quickly which children were driven to be the best—the winner. Some children were not especially bothered by losing, whereas others turned every opportunity into a competition. ____36____. However, we can help our children learn to handle it. ●Acknowledge disappointment from losing Teach your child that it’s okay to feel disappointed after losing. ____37____. Some children may be ready to jump back in and play again. Others may need to ask for a hug, spend a little time alone, or read a book to calm down. It is never okay to say mean words about others. ●____38____ Share with your child that even if they feel upset or disappointed, they can congratulate those who did win. Find meaningful ways to be a good loser. Share a praise with other players to let them know something they did was really positive. Thinking about others’ feelings can often help children manage their own (e.g., “They worked really hard-just like me!”). ●Talk about luck and chance Some games take very little effort to win or lose, relying mostly on chance. Talk with children about luck and chance and let them know that sometimes you choose cards that help you win and sometimes you don’t. ____39____. ●Focus on effort ____40____. When children are preparing for a competition, praise them for how hard they worked. Focus on effort even after a competition ends whether your child won or lost. This encourages children to recognize that they can improve and grow, making it more likely that they will try again. A. Share praises with others B. Practice good sportsmanship C. Don’t make winning or losing too big of a deal D. There are different ways to express that feeling E. It can feel harder to lose at a game that relies on personal or team performance than lose a game based on chance F. This is not your fault and does not reflect who you are G. Managing feelings that come with losing can be challenging 【答案】36. G 37. D 38. B 39. F 40. 文章讲述了几个帮助孩子体面地接受输赢的方式, 【36题详解】 前文“Some children were not especially bothered by losing, whereas others turned every opportunity into a competition.(有些孩子并没有因为输而特别烦恼,而另一些孩子则把每一个机会都变成了一场比赛。)” 后文“However, we can help our children learn to handle it.(然而,我们可以帮助我们的孩子学会处理它。)” 【37题详解】 前文“Teach your child that it’s okay to feel disappointed after losing.(教你的孩子直到失败后感到失望是没关系的。)” 后文“Some children may be ready to jump back in and play again. Others may need to ask for a hug, spend a little time alone, or read a book to calm down.(有些孩子可能已经准备好跳回去再玩了。 根据本段中的“Share with your child that even if they feel upset or disappointed, they can congratulate those who did win. Find meaningful ways to be a good loser. 【39题详解】 前文“Talk with children about luck and chance and let them know that sometimes you choose cards that help you win and sometimes you don’t.(与孩子们谈论运气和机会,让他们知道有时你会选择有助于你获胜的牌,有时你不会。)” 【40题详解】 根据本段小标题“Focus on effort(专注于努力)”和后文“When children are preparing for a competition, praise them for how hard they worked. Focus on effort even after a competition ends whether your child won or lost.(当孩子们准备比赛时,要表扬他们的努力。 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) Several years ago I started riding a bike. A Failure is the mother of success. B. A good beginning is half done. C. Fortune favors the brave. D. Practice makes perfect. C Sharks are among the best swimmers on the planet, but a new research suggests that even they sometimes “hold their breath” while diving deep underwater.
