On December 15th, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced some exciting news. Two new car models, developed by Chinese companies and equipped with Level 3 (L3) autonomous (自动驾驶的) driving technology, have been approved for road use. This is a key step for China’s smart car industry. It pushes the country closer to the era of practical self-driving travel.
What is L3 autonomous driving? It is also called “conditional automation”. This means the car can complete most driving tasks in specific situations. On highways or fast city roads, the car can drive by itself. It can handle steering (转向), speeding up, slowing down, and even avoiding small obstacles (障碍物). The driver does not need to watch the road all the time. However, he or she must stay ready to take over. For example, if an animal suddenly crosses the road, the car will warn the driver. The driver then has 10 seconds to take back control. This approval is a significant milestone (里程碑) for the commercial (商业的) use of autonomous driving technology in China. Before this, most smart cars on the market had Level 2 (L2) driving assistance systems. These systems could only provide basic help. For instance, they can warn the driver if the car drifts out of its lane, or automatically brake (刹车) to avoid collisions (碰撞). But the driver still needed to control the car at all times. Now, L3 cars can take full control in specific areas. This means China has officially entered the stage of “conditional self-driving” commercial trials (试验). It also shows that China’s smart car technology is now among the world’s leading levels.
Experts say L3 technology can make driving safer, since most car accidents are caused by human mistakes. But we should remember that L3 is not “full self-driving”. The driver must always be ready to take control! As the technology improves, self-driving cars may one day make our trips more convenient and safe, changing the way people travel in the future.
31. Which of the following driving tasks can a Level 3 (L3) car NOT perform by itself?
A. Accelerating and slowing down on a highway.
B. Steering to stay in the correct lane.
C. Avoiding a small rock on a fast city road.
D. Completing all tasks in specific situations.
32. What does the underlined phrase “take over” in Paragraph 2 most likely mean in the context?
A. To buy the car. B. To repair the car. C. To stop the car completely. D. To start driving the car manually (手动地).
33. What is the writer’s attitude towards the self-driving cars in the future?
A. Doubtful. B. Worried. C. Supportive. D. Surprised.
34. How is L3 different from L2 according to the passage?
A. L2 systems can avoid obstacles automatically.
B. L3 cars require the driver to control the car all the time.
C. L3 can take full control in specific situations.
D. L2 is a type of full self-driving technology.
35. Which is the best title for this passage?
A. The History of Self-Driving Cars in China
B. New Stage with Approved L3 Autonomous Cars
C. Ways to Drive a Level 3 Autonomous Vehicle
D. Difference between Autonomous Driving and Human Driving

细节理解题。根据文章第2段“Now, L3 cars can take full control in specific areas.”以及第3段对L2的描述“But the driver still needed to control the car at all times.”

①Last weekend, my dad asked me to garden with him together in the backyard. I wasn’t too excited about it, as I’d rather be playing video games indoors. But Dad insisted, so we gathered outside with seeds and gardening tools.
②We started by planting seeds. Dad handed me a packet of sunflower seeds and a small shovel. “Plant them about an inch deep,” he instructed. I followed along, feeling the soil between my fingers, and soon we had a row of seeds waiting to sprout (发芽).
③Days passed, and nothing seemed to happen. I was about to lose hope, thinking the seeds were just a waste. But then, a gentle reminder came, “Be patient. Good things take time.” A week later, tiny green shoots came out of the soil. I was amazed and ran to show everyone.
④As the sunflowers grew taller, Dad taught me how to take good care of them. “Just like these plants, you also need care and love to grow,” he said. I began to understand how my parents support and care for me behind my growth.
⑤One stormy night, the tallest sunflower broke. I felt very upset. Sitting beside me, a comforting voice said, “Sometimes, even the strongest can fall. But remember, they can still bloom, just a bit lower to the ground.”
⑥That day, I was encouraged to be patient and resilient (有韧性的). The sunflowers taught me that growth isn’t always easy, sometimes we need to bend and just be strong when facing every challenge.

In China, tea is one of the seven most important things for daily life, along with firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, and vinegar (醋). Today, tea is not just a Chinese tradition—it has become a special part of culture shared by people all over the world.
On Nov. 29, Chinese traditional tea processing skills and their related social practices were added to the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) list. Since ancient times, Chinese people have been planting, picking, making and drinking tea.
More importantly, China’s tea culture has formed Chinese customs. It is the Chinese traditional custom that a host should welcome visiting guests with boiled tea. A poem by Song poet Du Lei reads, “I offer tea, not wine to a guest on a cold night. When water boils on the stove, fire burns with flame bright.”
Boiling tea is one of China’s oldest ways to make tea. It started in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). People would boil tea leaves for a long time, sometimes even mixing them with herbs or fruits. This slow process let them enjoy peaceful moments. Later, during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), a faster method became popular—steeping. This meant people just poured hot water over tea leaves—and waited a few minutes, making tea easier to prepare.
____41____ On the app Xiaohongshu, or Little Red Book, there are over 40,000 posts on the topic of “stove-boiled tea” (围炉煮茶). They lightly roast tea leaves before boiling them in a teapot on a stove. People sit around the stove in a natural setting and have snacks with their hot tea. Some also wear traditional hanfu as if it could take them back to those ancient times. Through “stove-boiled tea”, people can taste a slower life and find a sense of calm. According to a Xiaohongshu post, “It is very relaxing to drink hot tea, feel the fall breeze, and chat with best friends.”
41. What does the writer want to tell us through Du Lei’s poem?
A. It was very cold in winter.
B. Tea was easier to boil than wine.
C. Tea was less expensive than wine.
D. It was a custom to welcome friends with tea.
42. Why did the steeping method become popular during the Ming Dynasty?
A. It is one of China’s oldest ways to make tea.
B. It was quicker and easier to prepare.
C. It provided better health benefits.
D. It required special herbs and fruits.
43. In Paragraph 4, what does the underlined word “steeping” probably mean?
A. 煮沸。 B. 种植。 C. 搅拌。 D. 冲泡。
44. Which sentence is the most suitable for the blank ________ in the last paragraph?
A Let’s try the old method of boiling tea in spare time.
B. These days, people are using the old methods again.
C. Chinese invented many different ways of drinking tea.
D. Therefore, it is a good choice to drink tea with friends.
45. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing this passage?
A. To call on people to learn more about Chinese traditional tea.
B. To invite more and more people around the world to visit China.
C. To introduce a popular way of making tea, “stove-boiled tea”.
D. To show how popular and interesting the app Xiaohongshu is.

【43题详解】
词句猜测题。根据文章第4段“This meant people just poured hot water over tea leaves—and waited a few minutes”的描述可知,“steeping”指的是将热水倒在茶叶上等待几分钟的“冲泡”方法。故选D。
【44题详解】

How is your memory? If we can’t remember how to do something, we can’t survive. If you think about it, there is so much we have to remember—from where we left our car keys to how we walk.
Maybe it’s not surprising that sometimes we forget things.
Scientists believe there are two levels of memory. One is short-term memory, which stays in your brain for only 15-30 seconds, for example, when you hear a song but can’t remember the words afterwards. The other level is long-term memory, which can be stored for days, months or even years.
There are many uses for memory. Motor-skill memory (运动技能记忆) helps you remember how to ride a bike or other activities, which can be short or long term. Emotional memory makes you think of how you felt about something and can be strong and powerful. They are long term.
Memories can tell you the story of yourself. Information, such as which school you go to and who your friends are, is stored inside your brain, ready for when you need it. It’s much easier to remember all those facts, or formulas or whatever it is you’re learning if you have a good memory. Memories can also help you manage feelings. Heidi, 12, told The Week Junior, “If I miss seeing my granny and grandad, I remember staying with them in Devon. It makes me feel happy.”
Our memory is amazing, but why do we still forget things? There is one possibility that we don’t always store information in our memory effectively. When we do store information, we often make connections with other things, which helps us recall it later. If you don’t have these connections, then it can be easier to forget. There is another possibility that memories decay over time. As they have not been revisited, their biological “trace” becomes weak.
However, remembering everything may waste cognitive resources, so sometimes forgetting is a good thing if we don’t remember every detail of the world around us. That’s something valuable worth remembering!

31 Which of the following driving tasks can a Level 3 (L3) car NOT perform by itself?
C L3 can take full control in specific situations.
D. L2 is a type of full self-driving technology.
35. Which is the best title for this passage?
