B As a child, Danielle Belleny’s love for nature led her to wildlife biology. Growing up, Danielle Belleny was always outdoors, picking up insects and investigating the animal world on her own. She hadn’t yet heard of wildlife biology, but that’s what she was learning about. She wanted to be a vet, a person who can treat sick or injured animals, at first. She said, “I always knew I wanted to work with animals, and as a kid, that was the only job I knew where I could do that.” But when Belleny was in college, her dad advised her to learn wildlife biology instead of veterinary (兽医学). Later, Belleny started working on research projects. One project involved placing trackers on a bird called the northern bobwhite. For another, she spent time feeding goats, as a way to protect a grass habitat for endangered box turtles without hurting them. Belleny’s current job at Plateau Land and Wildlife Management lets her split her time between the indoors and outdoors. It also lets her work with people. “In the mornings, I’m usually out the door before sunrise,” she says. She observes birds, keeping track of different species. And she searches for signs of what other animals in the area are doing. Around lunchtime, she’ll return home and write up a report. In the afternoon, she leaves for another site visit. She advises people on how to protect the wildlife that lives on their farm. Her work takes her all around Texas. Outside of work, young Belleny has been bird-watching for seven years. Her first book This Is a Book for People Who Love Birds was published in May, 2022. Now she’s working on a children’s book about birding, which is scheduled to come out in spring 2024. Belleny has some advice for young people thinking about careers. “Try everything you’re interested in through books and libraries. If you’re into wildlife biology, go to a library and find some field guides. After learning much information, you can do research work more easily”. 24. What did Belleny want to do at the very beginning? A. Protecting wildlife. B. Watching birds daily. C. Working as a vet. D. Looking after goats. 25. What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about concerning Belleny? A. Her research reports. B. Her field work. C. Her link with animals. D. Her services to farmers. 26. What service can Belleny provide for landowners in her current job? A. Writing reports. B. Indoor consultations. C. Wildlife photography. D. Wildlife protection advice. 27. What advice does Belleny offer to young people considering careers? A. Explore diverse interests through books. B. Attend wildlife biology workshops. C. Pursue a degree in biology. D. Explore nature outdoors. C Our brains are born to look for threats, to make a plan to address those threats and keep us safe. Those perceived threats may be based on the “what ifs” that we imagine could happen in the future. Actually, our “what ifs” can bring up a lot of negative emotion, which means we can easily get stuck on thoughts and keep going over them. People who have had prior challenges or experienced frustration may have come to expect threats and look for them more than people who have not had adversities. Deep thinkers, people who are prone (易于的) to anxiety or low mood, and those who are sensitive or feel emotions deeply are also more likely to ruminate and overthink. Also, when we are stressed, our emotions tend to be stronger and last longer, and our thoughts can be less accurate, which means we can get stuck on thoughts more than we would usually. Your thoughts are not necessarily true or accurate, but when we overthink and have them on repeat, they can start to feel true because they become familiar. A useful way to manage rumination or overthinking is “change, accept, and let go”. Specifically, challenge and change aspects of your thoughts where you can. Coming up with a more realistic thought can help stop the circle of the unhelpful thought. Furthermore, we’d better figure out how we feel about something and address those feelings. Rather than refuse them, accepting your emotions and finding ways to manage those will be helpful. You can even make a plan for dealing with future possibilities your thoughts are raising. However, it is difficult to plan for all eventualities What you can do is to make a plan for one or two of the more likely possibilities and accept there may be things that happen you haven’t thought of. After all, life inevitably involves a lack of complete control over outcomes and possibilities. So, the last part is letting go of the need to know exactly how things will turn out, and believing in your ability to cope with different situations. 28. What’s the main function of the first paragraph? A. To make a definition. B. To introduce a topic. C. To give an example. D. To describe a phenomenon. 29. Which best explains the underlined word “adversities” in paragraph 2? A. Advantages. B. Opportunities. C. Barriers. D. Qualities. 30. What kind of people get stuck on thoughts easily? A. People barely experiencing challenges. B. People with a realistic thought. C. People likely to succeed. D. People under pressure. 31. What is the fourth paragraph mainly about? A. How to deal with future possibilities. B. How to address your feelings. C. How to accept emotions. D. How to plan for future. I didn’t lead any clubs or have any standout talents. I preferred it that way. While others rushed through the hallways, laughing and chatting, I moved quietly, unnoticed. But I had one quiet mission: I couldn’t stand seeing our school littered with rubbish. It started with little things — plastic bottles, candy wrappers. At first, I’d pick them up without thinking. Then I started keeping gloves in my backpack. On mornings when I arrived early, or during lunch if I had time, I’d walk around campus, picking up rubbish piece by piece, completely unnoticed. What bothered me more than going unnoticed was the indifference. Plastic bags littered the ground like autumn leaves. I’d read enough to know where they all ended up — rivers, oceans, landfills. So I kept at it, one piece at a time. Then everything changed with one photograph. One cloudy Thursday after school, I found a mess near the parking lot. With a sigh (叹气), I pulled out the spare rubbish bag I always carried. As I bent down to collect a tissue, I heard the soft click of a camera. I looked up, astonished. A girl stood about ten feet away, half-hidden behind the low-hanging branches of a tree. A camera hung from her neck. Her eyes widened as she realized I’d spotted her. “Sorry!” she said quickly. “I didn’t mean to interrupt. But the way the light hit you — it looked like you were glowing (发光).” I froze — nobody had ever called me glowing before. She smiled shyly and said, “I’m Lila, from the photography club.” I nodded awkwardly, told her my name, and went back to picking up rubbish, unsure if we were done talking. But she didn’t leave. She stood nearby, watching as I kept gathering rubbish. “Do you often do this?” she asked gently. I nodded. “It just feels wrong to leave it like this.” That was all I said. After a while, she walked away. The next day, my photo appeared unexpectedly in the school newspaper. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From that day on, students suddenly noticed me. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025—2026学年上学期期末考试 高二年级英语试题卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 How much is the shirt? What’s wrong? W: Well, I went to the supermarket to buy some tomato sauce. I was reading the label when the bottle just slipped out of my hand and fell down. M: Oh, that’s bad. W: Yeah. I looked around and noticed that the other two customers were smiling and whispering to each other impolitely. I found a salesman and let him know what I had just done. I offered to help clean it up, but he said he would do that. M: He was so kind. Did you get another bottle? W: Yes. But then I was so embarrassed that I didn’t look where I was going. W: And there’s more! While I was waiting to pay, I realized I left my wallet at home. I had to apologize and go home to get my wallet. 17. What is the main idea of the talk? A. How to get along with family. B. How to spend the time. C. How to protect the time. 18. What does the speaker advise people to do on the weekend? A. Take a walk without a phone. B. Go to a concert. C. See a friend. 19. What is the second strategy? A. Change free time into a vacation. B. Create a clear edge for the time off. C. Prevent work from taking up the personal life. 20. Why should people delay the customer’s request? A. To avoid working on weekends. B. To finish their work better. C. To enjoy their family time. C 18. A 19. B 20. M: Our days are filled with a million small interruptions. And this is true even of our days off. Maybe you’ve taken a call at the beach or emailed a colleague while on a picnic with your family. And in my research, employees who were paid for their performance spent increasingly less time with friends and family, and more and more time with colleagues and customers. There are smart strategies we can take to better protect our time. One specific strategy we can take is to treat our weekend like a vacation. Maybe you can buy a bottle of wine and watch TV shows. Maybe you’ll visit a local café and listen to some live music. Or maybe you can go for a long walk in the middle of the day without your phone. The plan doesn’t have to be expensive. Another strategy you can take is to create a clear edge for your time off. Instead of saying, “I’m out of the office.” say, “I’ll be offline. Call me only if it’s urgent.” Lastly, you can fight for more time to prevent work from taking up your personal life. If your customer asks for work to be done on Monday morning, ask for a delay until Tuesday afternoon, so you won’t find yourself working on weekends. These small but powerful changes can not only reshape rest, but also get it back. A Many people dream of travelling the world to try new foods. 24. C 25. B 26. D 27. In the afternoon, she leaves for another site visit.(她观察鸟类,记录不同种类的鸟类。 根据第三段中“She advises people on how to protect the wildlife that lives on their farm.(她就如何保护生活在他们农场上的野生动物向人们提供建议。)” 根据最后一段中“Try everything you’re interested in through books and libraries.(通过书籍和图书馆尝试你感兴趣的一切事物。)” A。 C Our brains are born to look for threats, to make a plan to address those threats and keep us safe. B 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第一段“Our brains are born to look for threats, to make a plan to address those threats and keep us safe. Those perceived threats may be based on the “what ifs” that we imagine could happen in the future. Actually, our “what ifs” can bring up a lot of negative emotion, which means we can easily get stuck on thoughts and keep going over them.(我们的大脑生来就会寻找潜在的威胁,制定应对这些威胁的计划,以保障我们的安全。 根据划线词之前“People who have had prior challenges or experienced frustration may have come to expect threats and look for them more than people who have not had adversities.(那些曾经遇到过挑战或经历过挫折的人,可能比那些没有经历过adversities的人更容易预期威胁并寻找威胁)”可知,划线词“adversities”与前面的“challenges”和“frustration”是并列关系,都表示负面的、困难的经历,因此意为“逆境、困难”,与barriers(障碍,困难)意思相近。 根据第二段“Also, when we are stressed, our emotions tend to be stronger and last longer, and our thoughts can be less accurate, which means we can get stuck on thoughts more than we would usually.(此外,当我们感到压力时,我们的情绪往往会更强烈,持续时间也更长,而且我们的想法可能不那么准确,这意味着我们比平时更容易陷入某种想法中无法自拔)”可知,有压力的人容易被想法所困,故选D。 根据第四段“Furthermore, we’d better figure out how we feel about something and address those feelings. Rather than refuse them, accepting your emotions and finding ways to manage those will be helpful.(此外,我们最好弄清楚自己对某件事的感受,并处理这些情绪。 C。 D Phood is a green-minded urban farm and not-for-profit business based in Eindhoven, Netherlands. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文: The next day, my photo appeared unexpectedly in the school newspaper. There I was — bent down, reaching for a piece of rubbish. Beneath the photo was a simple line “Quiet heroes.” A wave of shock and embarrassment washed over me — followed by a strange sense of pride. I hadn’t asked for attention, yet the photo had caught something real. That morning, whispers trailed after me in the hallways. “Isn’t that the girl who picks up rubbish?” For the first time, students weren’t looking through me — they were actually seeing me, with curiosity and maybe even respect. From that day on, students suddenly noticed me. They began nodding at me in the hallways. Teachers smiled warmly when they saw me. Some classmates approached me about starting a recycling club or helping with clean-ups. The student council reached out first, asking me to lead an environmental initiative. Then the photography club invited me to share my story. Nervous as I was, I agreed. It wasn’t popularity that came overnight, but a quiet resonance. I came to realize that even the smallest actions, done with sincerity, can create ripples. This time, I was seen. And more importantly, I was making a difference. 词汇激活 行为类: ①捕捉:catch/capture ②注意到:notice/take notice of ③建立/发起:start/set up/launch 情绪类: ①震惊:shock/astonishment ②紧张的:nervous/tense/anxous/uneasy 【点睛】【高分句型1】The student council reached out first, asking me to lead an environmental initiative.(运用了现在分词短语“asking me to lead an environmental initiative”作状语) 【高分句型 excuse me, can you tell me how much the shirt is?
