Disneyland’s opening day, July 17, 1955, was a nightmare. Rides broke down. Restaurants ran out of food and drink. Long lines formed at bathrooms. All in front of a national audience of 90 million, Disney’s opening day would be known in Disney history as Black Sunday. But Disneyland’s story actually twenty years earlier with what Walt Disney called “Daddy’s Day”.
On Saturdays in the 1930s and 1940s, Disney would take his two daughters to ride the Griffith Park merry-go-round. Disney saw the amusement parks they often visited as dirty and unimaginative places run by unfriendly employees. He thought he could do better.
In 1939, he asked two employees to work on a plan for an amusement park. The pair spent six weeks visiting parks around the country and came up with a proposal (提议).
In 1948, Disney laid out his plans for a Mickey Mouse Park, which included a town square, a city hall, a fire station and a movie theater.
By 1952 the idea had grown into a 16-acre park proposal that he presented to Burbank, California official. However, the City Council didn’t accept the proposal.
Disney counted the refusal as a fortunate setback. By now, his dreams for a theme park had gone far beyond the space available in Burbank. He examined locations throughout Southern California. 160-acre land, 22 miles south of Los Angeles, was soon chosen.
Groundbreaking took place in July 1954, and Disney walked the site daily to offer direction and encouragement.
Disneyland wasn’t ready on opening day, but Disney decided to open the gates anyway to the media and invited guests. After the madness of opening day, newspaper headlines wrote: “Walt’s Nightmare”. The media foresaw a quick and early end.
However, the public didn’t listen. Visitors arrived in droves, and within weeks Disneyland was a success. Within two months, the park had welcomed its millionth visitor. Sixty years later, Disneyland’s popularity continues to grow, and shows no signs of slowing down with total overall attendance topping 700 million.
4. What made Disney come up with the idea of building a park?
A. His six-week visit to all the national parks.
B. The good business opportunities in this industry.

D. The unfriendly attitudes of employees in Griffith Park.

A. grew very quickly B. had a hopeless future
C. would be a great success one day D. should be responsible for the public

People who have trouble walking often have a hard time enjoying the beach. But hundreds of beaches in Greece now offer a new way for people in wheelchairs to get into the water by themselves. It’s called Seatrac.
Seatrac is basically a chair on a moving ramp (轻便梯) that can smoothly carry a disabled person into the sea. Once in the sea, the person can either remain in the chair, enjoying the water or go for a swim. The Seatrac system can also help anyone else who has a hard time walking, including older people and pregnant women.
Seatrac was invented and developed in Greece. The idea for it came when one of the inventors, Ignatios Fotiou, was talking with a friend who used a wheelchair. The friend said he enjoyed the sea, but didn’t like having to be carried into the ocean as if he were a sack (袋) of potatoes.
Mr. Fotiou realized that there must be a way to make it easier for wheelchair users to get into the water. Mr. Fotiou worked with his partner and a professor at a Greek university to design the system. In time, they formed a company called TOBEA to build and sell it.
The company worked hard to make the system simple to put in place and easy to run. A wooden walkway allows wheelchair users to reach the Seatrac. The system is solar-powered. It doesn’t require outside power and can continue to run even if the electricity goes out. The Seatrac system can easily be packed up and stored when the swimming season ends.
This summer, the Seatrac system is being used at over 220 beaches in Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Latvia. TOBEA hopes to offer Seatrac in other countries soon.
The Seatrac service in Greece is being offered for free. The Greek government has helped pay for it, with local cities buying and managing the equipment. Greece’s government hopes that Seatrac will help attract more tourists to the country.
8. Who is Seatrac designed for?
A. Older people who move freely.
B. Youths who like to swim in the sea.
C. Women who enjoy beach baths with their children.
D. People who have trouble moving around on the beach.
9. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The system. B. Potato. C. Ramp. D. Normal wheelchair.
10. What can we learn about the Seatrac system?
A. It’s not easy to operate.
B. Users don’t have to worry about charging it.
C. People need to have a big cost to use it in Greece.
D. It has been available at more than one thousand beaches.
11. Why does the Greek government help pay for the Seatrac service?
A. To improve the government’s image.
B. To promote the development of tourism.
C. To set up an organization for the disabled.
D. To support small and medium-sized local companies.
【答案】8. D 9. A 10. B 11. B

Now, new research suggests frequent exercise might help you live well in another meaningful way—that is, in terms of income. Researchers investigated whether individuals who stayed active would earn more money as a result of their active lifestyle. It revealed that staying active not only resulted in higher present earnings, but also predicted increased future income throughout one’s life.
The researchers set out to explore three key correlations (相互关系):How mobility-the ability to move, affected income, how mobility influenced income overtime, and whether exercise could help people maintain their mobility as they aged. The team analyzed data from Health and Retirement Study(HRS), the largest study tracking changes overtime in Americans aged 50 and above. This study takes into account various life aspects, including work, social status, health, psychology and family matters, as individuals age.
To evaluate the impact of current mobility on income, the researchers examined data from over 19, 000 respondents (调查对象) to determine how well they could perform simple tasks, such as climbing stairs, or moving around a room. Each person received a score, with 5 indicating full mobility and 0 indicating difficulties with these tasks. The researchers found that for each decrease in the mobility category, individuals lost out on an average of $3, 000 in annual income compared to their peers. Those who were active were also significantly more likely to remain working for longer than the other group. It appeared that engaging in exercise enabled individuals to maintain mobility and engage in professional life for a longer period of time than those who were less active.
Looking at earnings overtime revealed even more substantial benefits for those who remained active throughout their lives. Active individuals showed an overall income level that was $6, 500 higher, along with higher rates of employment. For the third part of the study, it’s not surprising that those who engaged in exercise continued to maintain their mobility after the age of 55 and had higher employment rates. Even exercising just one day a week showed improvements in mobility outcomes.
While this study doesn’t definitively prove that leading a healthy lifestyle directly leads to higher earnings, it strongly suggests that staying healthy and mobile brings benefits beyond just lower levels of disease.
12. What didn’t researchers take into consideration when designing their experiment?
A. Family matters B. Work and social status
C. Health and psychology D. Educational background
13. According to paragraph 3, what’s the impact of current mobility on income?
A. Increased mobility slightly reduces annual income
B. Greater mobility is closely related to higher income
C. Decreased mobility greatly increases the overall income
D. Maintaining mobility has nothing to do with the income
14. What’s the author’s attitude towards leading a healthy lifestyle?
A. Favorable B. Indifferent C. Opposed D. Doubtful
15. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. Exercise Lowers Levels of All Diseases
B. Exercise Promotes Work Efficiency
C. Exercise Helps to Make More Money
D. Exercise Ensures A Longer Lifespan
【答案】12. D 13. B 14. A 15. C

【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“While this study doesn’t definitively prove that leading a healthy lifestyle directly leads to higher earnings, it strongly suggests that staying healthy and mobile brings benefits beyond just lower levels of disease.(虽然这项研究并没有明确证明健康的生活方式直接导致更高的收入,但它强烈表明,保持健康和运动带来的好处不仅仅是降低疾病水平)”推知,作者对健康的生活方非常赞同。故选A。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段的“Now, new research suggests frequent exercise might help you live well in another meaningful way—that is, in terms of income.(现在,新的研究表明,经常锻炼可能会以另一种有意义的方式帮助你生活得更好——即在收入方面)”并结合下文用实验对此进行证明可知,文章主要介绍经常锻炼不仅仅有助于降低疾病水平,还能增加收入。因此C项“锻炼有助于赚更多的钱”可以作为本文的最佳标题。故选C。

【答案】
Rational Use of AI for Homework
As AI apps like DeepSeek become popular, more students turn to them for homework help. This phenomenon has sparked widespread discussion.
Some students believe that AI software has advantages. It rapidly provides accurate data and varied viewpoints, simplifying complex ideas. Yet, others think drawbacks exist. Over-reliance may hinder independent thinking. Constant use for assignments can weaken problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
In my viewpoint, students should use AI rationally as a supplement. When stuck, seek hints from AI but solve problems alone. Teachers should guide proper use and design creative homework to reduce AI dependence, which enables students to benefit from AI-learning integration.

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
A Mother’s Heartfelt Note of Love
Everything seemed to have changed for me when I entered high school. I never saw a single person I knew from middle school. At home I was just as lonely. “My brothers and sister all fit in.” I thought, coming in the door after another bad day at school. “Why can’t I?”
Mom was there waiting for me. “Karole, your bedroom’s a disaster. Why can’t you keep it clean?” The last thing I needed was criticism from my mother. What had happened to the mother who used to snuggle (依偎) with me on the sofa, loving me with complete acceptance? Who thought everything I did was wonderful? I didn’t bother trying to explain my unhappiness. It was easier to hide in my bedroom, without saying a word, like I did every afternoon.
Clearing off some space, I sat down at my desk. Yet another thing I wasn’t good at anymore. My grades had slipped along with my confidence. I turned to a new page in my notebook and started working out the first problem. Almost immediately, I saw I’d made a mistake. “Wrong again!” I thought. “You can’t do anything right!” I tore the paper out of my notebook, balled it up in my fist and threw it at the wastepaper basket. The ball landed on the floor. I heard my mother’s voice in my head, “Why can’t you keep your room clean?”
By the time I finished my homework, the floor was littered with crumpled (弄皱的) paper. It gave me a kind of satisfaction to see the mess I’d made. Like it was proof of all my shortcomings. Every time I looked at those crumpled balls, I reminded myself what a failure I was. But my unhappiness stayed hidden away, just like those mistakes. With my face a mask of indifference, no one knew what I was really feeling. Who would want to listen?
One day, I came home to an empty house. It was a relief not to be met with Mom’s latest complaint. “Nothing I do is right in her eyes.” I thought. “Or anyone else’s, including mine.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
When I opened my bedroom door, I froze at the sight of a neat and orderly room.

I sat down at my desk, staring at those words.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
When I opened my bedroom door I froze at the sight of a neat and orderly room. Mom had obviously decided to clean it herself. I was surprised to see the clean floor below my bed. All the crumpled paper had disappeared. Except one. A single sheet lay in plain view. I picked up the sheet and recognized Mom’s perfect handwriting, saying “I have found that I have also been very critical of you lately. For that, I am truly sorry. I only expect that you are to be your same sweet self.”
I sat down at my desk, staring at those words. A weight seemed to lift from me. I realized that Mom still loved me the same way. When she got home, I found the confidence to let down my guard and talk to her about how I felt. She and my father teamed up to offer some ideas that might help, like joining after-school clubs. I seemed like everything changed in high school, but one heartfelt note set the stage for the rest of my teenage years.

The idea for it came when one of the inventors Ignatios Fotiou, was talking with a friend who used a wheelchair.
D

注意:
