Ma Jun, born in 1995 in Ningxia, is the youngest winner of the Junma Awards for Ethnic Literature in the prose (散文)category for his first work, “Qing Bai Shijie”. Despite being wheelchair-bound and facing countless challenges, including a predicted life expectancy of 20, Ma has overcome the difficulties and is now living well at 29.
“Qing Bai Shijie” is a five-part collection reflecting on Ma’s life, from childhood to ambitions. The title symbolizes purity and innocence and fights the prejudice (偏见)Ma faced, such as being labeled as receiving “God’s punishment”. In 2016, Ma chose not to attend college to allow his younger brother to continue his education, a decision that led to despair but was later changed by reading Shi Tiesheng’s “Wo Yu Ditan”, which inspired him to pursue writing.
Ma’s journey in writing began as a means to find meaning and joy in life. After three years of devotion, he completed his book but faced the challenge of publishing without resources. However, the “Stars of Literature by Chinese Ethnic Writers” project selected his work for publication in 2023, a significant milestone.
The Junma Awards, one of China’s major literary prizes, recognized Ma’s talent, and his win was a joyful surprise. Ma’s condition, Spinal Muscular Atrophy(SMA), was diagnosed at27, and with treatment now affordable in China, he manages his disease through regular medical procedures.
Ma keeps a daily routine of exercise, reading, and writing, currently working on a novel. He defines himself not by his struggles but as a faithful writer, using literature to connect with the world and inspire hope. His social media profile reads, “Be a faithful writer”, a motto that summarizes his commitment to his career and his life.
4. What do we know about Ma Jun from the first two paragraphs?

D. He accepted his role model Shi Tiesheng’s advice.
6. What’s Ma Jun’s current situation?

As AI continues its extraordinary rise as a creative force, we’re entering an era of “aesthetic (美学) inflation,” where seemingly perfectly-composed images, poetic articles, and cinematic storytelling have become available to anyone, instantly and at no cost. Say, a symphony in the exact style of Beethoven or an essay in the voice of Hemingway can be generated in seconds. Does the perfect AI art, however, carry the same value?
The value of artworks, as it is, goes beyond what is shown in the museum or the concert hall. We admire Vincent van Gogh not just for Starry Night but for the confusion, vision, and perseverance that shaped it. We don’t just listen to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony; We are impressed at the fact that it was composed while he was deaf. These stories give their creation depth, reminding us that art is not just about aesthetics or skill.
Perfection has never belonged to humanity. Across cultures, imperfection isn’t just accepted–it’s embraced. The deep connection between imperfection and creativity in artworks is everywhere. The latter has always made space for mistakes, rough edges, and raw emotion, like the quake in a brushstroke, the crack in a voice -these aren’t things to be fixed, they’re what give art its soul and make human-created art more valuable.
Lost in great artworks, like a heartbreaking song, a thrilling movie, or an impressive painting, we travel the artists’ emotional journey, unbox one character’s bittersweet memories, or smile at the unexpected twists the creator carefully lays out. In this light, AI-generated art is not just unnatural. So, Jerry Saltz, an art critic, has a good question, “Calculated and deterministic, AI art is like a beautifully wrapped box shining with techniques. But do you really expect anything when you open it?”
Throughout history, the most celebrated works of paintings, literature, and music are always about expression, exploration, and engagement with the world. As AI art is detached from all these grounds, maybe the value of human-created art migrates to the very thing that displays who we are. As Glen Keane, a great Disney producer put it, “AI, or a machine, can’t understand the weight of a character’s sigh,” Maybe, he is right.
8. What is the characteristic of the era of “aesthetic inflation”?
A. AI is becoming increasingly creative.
B. The world is flooded with instant artworks.
C. Classical artworks have made a comeback.
D. AI-generated artworks have become spotless.
9. Why are Vincent van Gogh and Beethoven mentioned in paragraph 2?
A. To show respect for their creativity.
B. To highlight what’s behind human artworks.
C. To explain why artworks should be preserved.
D. To emphasize the great influence of their masterpieces.
10 What does Jerry Saltz’s question mainly reveal about AI art?
A. It’s lifeless. B. It’s unpredictable.
C. It’s cutting-edge. D. It’s accessible.
11. According to the author, what does the value of human-created art lie in?
A. The unique aesthetic skills. B. The adaptation to AI assistance.
C. The reflection of human nature. D. The exploration of human potential.
D
Imagine a forest where only one type of tree grows. If a disease kills that tree, the entire forest dies. This is the danger of losing biodiversity — the variety of life on Earth. Biodiversity is not just about saving cute animals; it’s the foundation of healthy ecosystems that humans depend on for survival.
First, diverse ecosystems are more resilient. For example, rainforests with thousands of plant species can recover from storms or fires better than monoculture forests (where only one species grows). Bees, butterflies, and birds pollinate 75% of the world’s food crops, ensuring we have fruits, vegetables, and nuts. If these pollinators disappear, our food supply will collapse. Similarly, predators like wolves control deer populations, preventing overgrazing and protecting plant life.
Second, biodiversity provides medical breakthroughs. Many life-saving drugs come from nature: aspirin from willow trees, cancer treatments from sea sponges, and antibiotics from soil bacteria. If species go extinct, we lose potential cures. Scientists estimate that less than 1% of Earth’s species have been studied for medicinal value — who knows what treatments we’re losing as species vanish?
Sadly, biodiversity is declining faster than ever. Human activities like deforestation, overfishing, and pollution have caused a “sixth mass extinction,” with up to 1 million species at risk. This isn’t just a loss for nature; it’s a threat to human well-being.
Protecting biodiversity isn’t optional. We can support protected areas like national parks, reduce our carbon footprint, and choose sustainable products (e.g., certified organic food). Every species, no matter how small, plays a role in nature’s balance. As biologist E.O. Wilson said, “The one process now going on that will take millions of years to correct is the loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly our descendants are least likely to forgive us.”
12. Why does the author mention a forest with only one type of tree?
A. To explain how forests recover from storms.
B. To argue that monoculture forests are useless.
C. To indicate how essential biodiversity is to the earth.
D. To describe the beauty of diverse ecosystems.
13. What is the role of pollinators like bees?
A. They help plants produce food crops humans need.
B. They control the population of dangerous predators.
C. They provide ingredients for life-saving drugs.
D. They prevent diseases from spreading in forests.
14. The underlined word “resilient” in Paragraph 2 probably means ______.
A. easy to destroy B. slow to grow
C. dependent on human protection D. able to recover from difficulties
15. What is the author’s main point?
A. Humans should focus on saving cute or useful species.
B. Extinction is a natural process that humans can’t stop.
C. Medical progress is more important than protecting species.
D. Biodiversity is crucial for ecosystems and human survival.

The annual school sports day was in full swing, with the bright sun shining down on the bustling track field. The air was filled with lively music and the excited cheers of students. Among the participants was Leo, a determined but not particularly athletic boy who had signed up for the challenging 1500-meter run. Though he wasn’t the fastest runner in his class, he had trained hard for this moment and made a promise to his friends that he would give it his all.
As he stood at the starting line, Leo could feel his heart pounding like a drum. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves while focusing on the track ahead. The other runners looked confident and ready, which made him even more anxious. When the starting gun finally fired, all the competitors surged forward like arrows released from their bows.
For the first lap, Leo managed to maintain a steady pace in the middle of the group. He could hear his classmates shouting encouragement from the stands, which gave him strength and motivation. However, as he entered the second lap, he began to feel the strain in his muscles and the burning in his lungs. The distance seemed to stretch endlessly before him.
Then, just as he was rounding a curve, the runner beside him stumbled and accidentally bumped into him. Leo lost his balance completely and fell hard onto the rough track surface. A sharp pain immediately shot through his knee and hands. He watched helplessly as the other runners quickly passed him by, their figures growing smaller in the distance. For a moment, he just sat there, feeling the physical pain mixed with deep disappointment. The finish line now seemed like an impossible goal, and a tempting voice in his head suggested he should just quit and spare himself further embarrassment.

10. What does Jerry Saltz’s question mainly reveal about AI art?
A. It’s lifeless. B. It’s unpredictable.
C. It’s cutting-edge. D. It’s accessible.
11. According to the author, what does the value of human-created art lie in?
A. The unique aesthetic skills. B. The adaptation to AI assistance.
C. The reflection of human nature. D. The exploration of human potential.
B 9. B 10. A 11. C

根据第一段中“As AI continues its extraordinary rise as a creative force, we’re entering an era of “aesthetic (美学) inflation,” where seemingly perfectly-composed images, poetic articles, and cinematic storytelling have become available to anyone, instantly and at no cost.
根据第二段中“We admire Vincent van Gogh not just for Starry Night but for the confusion, vision, and perseverance that shaped it. We don’t just listen to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony; We are impressed at the fact that it was composed while he was deaf. These stories give their creation depth, reminding us that art is not just about aesthetics or skill.
根据第四段中“So, Jerry Saltz, an art critic, has a good question, “Calculated and deterministic, AI art is like a beautifully wrapped box shining with techniques. But do you really expect anything when you open it?” (所以,艺术评论家Jerry Saltz提出了一个很好的问题,“人工智能艺术就像一个包装精美的盒子,闪烁着技术的光芒。但你打开它的时候,真的期待得到什么吗?”)”即人工智能艺术是经过计算和确定的,就像一个包装精美、闪耀着技巧的盒子。但当你打开它时,你真的期待什么吗?这暗示了人工智能艺术缺乏生命力和深度。因此,Jerry Saltz的问题主要揭示了人工智能艺术的无生命性。故选A。
根据最后一段中“As AI art is detached from all these grounds, maybe the value of human-created art migrates to the very thing that displays who we are. (由于人工智能艺术脱离了所有这些基础,也许人类创造的艺术的价值转移到了展示我们是谁的东西上。)”可知,作者认为人类创作的艺术的价值在于它反映了人性。故选C。
Second biodiversity provides medical breakthroughs.
C 13. A 14. D 15. D

故填what。

注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
However, when looking up, Leo saw his classmates standing and cheering for him.

Slowly but steadily, Leo began to move forward again.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 1
However, when looking up, Leo saw his classmates standing and cheering for him. Their voices growing even louder, he remembered the promise he had made to himself to never give up. Gritting his teeth, he used his trembling hands to push himself up from the rough track. His knee was still bleeding, but at that moment, he barely felt the physical pain. A new determination filled his heart, pushing him to continue. He knew that even if he had to walk, he would make it to the finish line. Every small step forward now felt like a victory in itself.
Paragraph 2
Slowly but steadily, Leo began to move forward again. The crowd erupted in encouraging applause, recognizing his incredible courage. With each limping step, he grew stronger and more determined. He was now far behind all the other runners, but that no longer mattered to him. He was no longer running for a medal or for first place; he was running to prove himself that he could overcome any obstacles. When he finally crossed the finish line, the playground erupted in the loudest cheers of the day, the sun hugging him with the most glorious light.

②放弃:give up/abandon
