B Ritz has been teaching for nearly 10 years in a high school where the early graduation rate of the students was just 17%. He discovered a way to connect and intrigue these students, especially the ones who seemed the hardest to reach. Once, he received a package of flower bulbs (球茎) which he mistakenly thought were onions. He was afraid that they might become weapons (武器) in a classroom fight, so he hid them behind a radiator (暖气片) and forgot about them. Six weeks later, an angry girl ran after a boy who always made troubles. As usual, Ritz rushed towards them to break up what he thought was about to become a disaster. He saw the boy reach towards the radiator and thought he might have hidden a weapon there. To his surprise, the boy suddenly pulled out a bunch of yellow flowers and gave them to the girl as a peace offering. The girl decided to take the flowers home to her mother and peace came back. The forgotten bulbs were actually daffodils (黄水仙). The steam from the radiator had forced them into flowers. From such an experience, Ritz realized that if there was power in plants to stop a classroom fight, there must be power in plants to change students’ lives. He turned the moment of growing plants into a green course, a movement that would change his life and the lives of his students. He designed vegetable gardens into part of the school ground and on top of a building. Ritz’s students now have near-perfect attendance and graduation rates. His efforts have led him to be a great teacher who uses the power of a plant to give a voice to children. 4. What does the underlined word “intrigue” mean in paragraph 1? A. Interest. B. Protect. C. Punish. D. Challenge. 5. What stopped the fight between the boy and the girl? A. The radiator. B. A tasty dish. C. Some yellow flowers. D. The teacher’s words. 6. How are Ritz’s students affected by his green course? A. They have low attendance. B. They become the hardest to reach. C. They know how to make weapons. D. They fall in love with learning. 7. What is the best title for the text? A. What a Classroom Needs for a Fight B. Why a Plant Has an Effect on Students C. How a Teacher Changes His Students D. How a Teacher Becomes Popular C Our planet faces severe environmental threats, mainly due to human activities such as large farming and burning fossil fuels, which lead to climate change and natural disasters. One of the most destructive activities we are carrying out is cutting down forests – deforestation. This is done for many reasons, such as providing wood for fuel, making land available for housing or for creating space for more farm animals. This has been most noticeable in Brazil, which is home to the world’s largest rainforest. Deforestation there has hit its highest rate in a decade, according to official data. Over the course of a year, an area about five times the size of London has been destroyed. Although deforestation rates in the Amazon and other tropical(热带的) regions have declined, the scale remains vast. In 2018, Global Forest Watch reported that 30 football fields’ worth of forest were cut down every minute. Frances Seymour from the World Resources Institute warns that the overall trend is still upward, indicating we are far from winning the battle against deforestation. Primary forests like the Amazon are crucial for biodiversity, housing rare species and acting as carbon dioxide stores. The loss of 3.6 million hectares in 2018 is alarming. Brazil has taken policies to reduce deforestation, including fines for illegal land use and logging(采伐). International actions against soy and beef trade from deforested Amazon areas have also helped. However, other regions like Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo are witnessing increases in deforestation. It appears that only political will and human conscience(良知) can effectively solve this problem and protect our planet. 8. What is the main cause of environmental threats according to the passage? A. Natural disasters. B. Deforestation. C. Climate change. D. Human activities. 9. What is the significance of primary forests like the Amazon? A. They provide fuel wood. B. They are used for farm animals. C. They are home to unique species. D. They are involved in international trade. 10. What measures have been taken to decrease deforestation in Brazil? A. Ignoring land use requirements. B. Encouraging more farm animals. C. Introducing government policies. D. Increasing the rate of deforestation. 11. What is the purpose of writing this text? A. To introduce deforestation. B. To call for action against deforestation. C To suggest a way to protect the planet. D. To argue the cause of environmental threats. D Historical heritages are human beings’ wisdom. Cultural relics, however, as time goes by, suffer different degrees of erosion (侵蚀). People used to protect cultural relics by hand work combing photographing and rubbing techniques. Although this method can keep the basic information, many important details are still ignored. 3D scanning technology features in fast measurement speed and accurate catching capacity. It’s good at collecting enough and accurate 3D data from different angles, which is beneficial to the restoration of cultural relics when coming into accidental damage. Experts can also virtually restore the heritages through the computer, and finish assistant researches via accurate 3D models. For cultural relics’ protection, 3D printing contributes to displaying cultural relics. It provides people with more chances to get to know cultural relics and better understand human beings’ history. Yucheng Museum has dug out a new collection of cultural relics in April 2019. One of the most important issues for archaeologists is data storage. Invited by Quimbaya ArtxTech, ScanTech conducted 3D scanning immediately on these relics by the 3D scanner. This handheld 3D ray scanner carries a big weight in acquiring very accurate 3D data and brings great convenience for further restorations and researches. To avoid any damage, Yucheng Museum combined with 3D printing technology based on 3D data to reproduce 1:1 3D model of cultural relics for exhibition, which aims to make more people get close to history and pass on these precious cultural heritages. Time flies and many thousand-year cultural treasures have gradually disappeared from our sight due to technical problems. However, 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies put forward very effective 3D solutions for cultural relic display and protection. 12. What is the disadvantage of the method people used to protect cultural relics? A. It eroded cultural relics in a degree. B. It made the research of cultural relics inconvenient. C. It damaged the restoration of cultural relics. D. It took no notice of many important information. 13. How is 3D scanning technology applied to heritage conservation? A. Gather the data of cultural relics efficiently. B. Restore a damaged cultural relic on a computer. C. Evaluate the original looks of cultural relics. D. Restore cultural relics in the real world. 14. Why is Yucheng Museum mentioned in the text? A. To emphasize the value of cultural relics. B. To compare the two 3D technologies. C. To show the application of 3D digitalization. D. To draw more attention to cultural museums. 15. What does the text mainly talk about? A. Scientifle ways of restoring cultural relics. B. The rapid development of3D technologies. C. 3D technologies for protecting cultural relics. D. Many effective functions of 3D technologies 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最生选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 High school is an extremely important period in a teenager’s life, marked by academics (学业), social experiences, and personal growth. It all began when I gathered the courage to tell him my decision to quit the school basketball team. I found it hard to deal with lots of schoolwork, endless tasks, and the physically-demanding daily training sessions. The pressure was too heavy, and I felt like I was about to break down. However, my father couldn’t see things from my point of view. In his eyes, the basketball team was a golden opportunity for me to build my strength, character, and teamwork skills. He thought I was being a quitter, giving up easily just because of a little hardship. Our voices rose higher and higher as we tried to defend our own views. Words that were better left unsaid were thrown back and forth. In the heat of the moment, I even accused him of not caring about my feelings. In the end, I lost my temper, stormed out of the house, and shut the door behind me heavily, leaving my father standing there in a state of shock. That night, I turned in my bed, the argument replaying in my mind like a broken record. I stared at the ceiling, the moonlight streaming in through the curtains, casting a dim (昏暗的) light in the room. I kept thinking about the disappointed look on my father’s face. I knew he had high hopes for me, always dreaming that I could achieve great things. But at that moment, I just couldn’t take the pressure anymore. I felt so confused and sad, not knowing how to bridge the gap that had suddenly opened between us. I regretted my hasty (草率的) words and wondered if our relationship could ever be the same again. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The next morning, I decided to write a letter to my father. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I returned home that evening, I found my father waiting for me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2025年秋季期高一期末教学质量检测试题 英 语 (考试时长:120分钟) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分35分)做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 How much is the shirt? I’m writing with great enthusiasm to invite you to join us in this exciting activity. The event will take place on the coming Saturday morning at 8:00. We’ll start from the school gate and make our way to the nearby park. During the run, we can soak in the fresh winter air, while taking in the beautiful scenery along the route. After the run, some warm-up games will be arranged for us to relax and have fun, which is definitely both meaningful and entertaining. I’m really looking forward to your participation. Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】参考范文 The next morning. I decided to write a letter to my father. Difficult as it was for me, I first apologized for my rude behavior. Sitting at my desk, tears blurred my words as I explained how stressed I was under the heavy load of study and training. I described sleepless nights drowning in textbooks and aching muscles from relentless drills, admitting I feared failing both academically and as his son. Hoping to clear the misunderstandings, I put the letter on his desk before leaving for school. My hands shook — would this help him understand, or deepen the gap between us? When I returned home that evening, I found my father waiting for me. His eyes were gentle, lacking the anger from yesterday. He walked towards me, holding my letter. “I’m sorry for pushing you too hard” he began, then stopped. Slowly, he reached out and touched my shoulder. We hugged each other tightly, both of us knowing that the gap between us was bridged at that moment. Finally, we agreed I’d take a break from basketball — not quit forever. From that day forward, we learned to communicate openly and respect each other’s choices, which laid a much stronger foundation for our father-son bond. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
