Dear David,
I’m glad you’re interested in the most popular sport in our school. It’s basketball, which is loved by almost every student here.
We have two basketball courts, and students play it every break and after school. It’s easy to learn and play with partners, helping us relax after hard study. Besides, it teaches us teamwork and strengthens our bodies, which makes it so popular.
I hope you can try it if you have a chance.
Yours,
Li Hua

【参考范文】
Paragraph 1: Early the next morning, John left home with the money. He rushed to a shop and bought the special paints and brushes needed for the competition. Excitement and determination filled his heart as he hurried back to his favorite spot in the forest. With each stroke of his brush, he poured his love for nature onto the canvas, hoping to create a masterpiece that would capture the beauty of the forest. Time slipped by at the tip of his brush. He eventually finished his painting in the afternoon. With a sense of pride and accomplishment, John carefully packed up his supplies and went into town to submit his entry.
Paragraph 2: A week later, John received a phone call at home. The caller informed John that he had won the first prize worth $500 in the drawing competition. Tears of joy streamed down John’s face as he shared the news with his mother. At first, she was shocked, but then she smiled at him. “I should have believed in him more,” she thought. From then on, she encouraged John to pursue his passion for art. With his mother’s full support, John devoted himself entirely to his chosen field and became a very successful artist.

(原创题)Four Fantastic Museums for Kids to Explore
A Journey into Medical History, Leeds
The Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds has recently undergone a major renovation, offering visitors a vivid dive into medical history. Its highlight is a life-sized Victorian street scene, complete with authentic smells and historical details. The museum also showcases the devastating impacts of once-deadly infectious diseases like cholera and smallpox—diseases that were widespread long before the invention of vaccines. Beyond exhibitions, there are engaging talks, interactive displays and fun games, as well as introductions to the remarkable health heroes who dedicated their lives to fighting diseases over the centuries.
Admission: Adults £12; Children (5-15) £10; Under 5s free.
A Tribute to Railway and Fire History, Walthamstow, London
Tucked away in Walthamstow, the Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is a small gem combining indoor and outdoor exhibits, perfect for young history and machine lovers. A massive steam engine stands proudly at the entrance, immediately catching the eye. Inside, two 1967 Victoria Line train carriages are on show, with their driver’s cabs open for kids who dream of being train drivers to explore. The museum also features Fireman Frank’s display, which includes a classic fire engine that starred in popular TV shows such as London’s Burning.
Admission: Free for all.
A World of Illusions and Vision, Edinburgh
Edinburgh’s Camera Obscura and World of Illusions offers a magical experience, taking kids on a journey through the history of vision and light. It presents a unique glimpse of what Edinburgh looked like in the past, with stunning views and historical insights. Spanning five floors, the museum houses more than 100 fully interactive exhibits—and there are no “do not touch” signs anywhere, making it incredibly kid-friendly. The perspective room is a particular hit: young visitors can dance with their own shadows, match their faces with a monkey’s in a fun optical trick, pretend to serve their head on a plate and even lie on a life-sized shark model, all through amazing visual illusions.
Admission: Adults £16; Children (5-15) £12; Under 5s free.
A Step Back into Ancient Rural Life, Chichester, West Sussex
For kids curious about what life was like long ago, the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Chichester is the perfect place. This open-air museum lets visitors see, touch and even smell what ancient rural life was like, with a multisensory and living presentation of history. It has over 50 historic rural buildings, dating from early medieval England all the way to the Victorian era, all preserved and restored to their original condition. Kids can also visit friendly farm animals, run around and burn off energy in the wooded area and playground, or play traditional old-fashioned games in a historic big house if the weather is bad.

Silver Spring, Maryland is a center for immigrants (移民) and refugees. Manuel Vera, now known as the “Bike Dude”, found some unique and creative ways to support his community.
At first, Manuel Vera just wanted to do something productive during the COVID-19 lockdown (封锁). So he offered to fix people’s bikes for free in his neighborhood.
“Then I started thinking about all the bikes people have at home that never get used,” says Vera, 74, who is retired from the local power company. Soon he asked neighbors to donate bikes collecting dust after kids had outgrown them or adults had upgraded to new models. Then, in his tidy little backyard shed, he’d get to work. Since space is so tight, Vera prefers to work alone though not for lack of volunteers.
Vera repairs the bikes and gives them away at parks with a “Free Bikes” sign. Then he pairs people up with the perfect new ride and watches them pedal away happily. His first giveaway saw six bikes go in under 30 minutes.
But Vera wanted to reach those who needed help the most. Making life better, one bike at a time. In addition to helping the adults and kids he meets at his Free Bikes events, eager customers also come from local resettlement agencies. The agencies provide Vera with the height, gender and age of a rider, and he delivers a fitting bicycle to their door. He’s happy to make the trip.
Vera recalls that an Afghan man needed a way to get to his new job as a night security guard. Vera provided him with not only a bike and helmet but also lights and a reflective vest. Lbrahim Alashe’s new bike cuts his travel time in half.
“When I sought bicycles, it was very expensive, so when he does this for people, it makes them so happy,” says Alashe. “It was one of my dreams to get a bicycle. So it’s very good.”
So far, his simple offer to repair bikes has grown into an engine of kindness, providing wheels to over 700 people and fueling the entire community.
24.What did Manuel Vera first offer to do for his neighbors?
A.Donate bicycles to refugees. B.Fix their bikes without charge.
C.Collect unused bikes from them. D.Teach bike repair skills online.
25.Why did Vera choose to help people through resettlement agencies?
A.To get more volunteers for his small shed. B.To earn a reputation as a community leader.
C.Because giving bikes in parks was not successful. D.To help people with the greatest needs more directly.
26.Which words best describe Manual Vera?
A.Strict and serious. B.Kind and thoughtful.
C.Shy and quiet. D.Ambitious and proud.
27.What does the story mainly tell us?
A.How bicycle recycling benefits the environment.
B.How a retired man spent his time during the lockdown.
C.How a small act of kindness can power a community.
D.How immigrants face challenges in Silver Spring, Maryland.
C
Glaciers store amounts of important climate data within their frozen rivers of snow and ice. But many of the world’s 220,000 glaciers are under threat from global warming, melting(融化) at an alarming rate.
In 2024, a UN research team went to harvest ice cores (核) from the glacier in the Alps. They wanted to add to test cores drilled just two years earlier, which showed clear chemical evidence of past climate. But when they got there, the glacier had melted so much that information trapped in the ice was lost. And this is a process happening in glaciers worldwide. Evidence showed melt rates were more than 30%higher between 2020 and 2024 than 15 years earlier.
Records show that almost all of the world’s glaciers are thinning out. Among the fastest melting glaciers are those in the Alps, but half the world’s glacial loss is from the US and Canada, and that ice core data could be lost forever. And the oldest continuous ice records are up to 130,000 years in Greenland and 800,000 years inAntarctica, where ice cores more than two miles in length have been taken out.
What those cores reveal are changing levels of greenhouse gases like CO2 over the last 400,000 years and clues to global warming. But it is not just atmospheric make- up or events like volcanic eruptions that are recorded in ice cores. Scientists have found viruses nearly 15,000 years old in samples (样本) from a Tibetan glacier.Genetic codes for 33 viruses, 28 of them unknown to science, were discovered, and researchers hope to find out more about how viruses have advanced and how they might respond to climate change.
Measures are being taken to preserve this type of data and increase our understanding of Earth’s climate and environment. Perhaps ice- covered areas of theAlps and the Andes will disappear by the end of this century. But probably the most threatening signals of glacial loss come from places like Greenland and Antarctica, where ice melt raises global sea levels.
28.Why did a UN research team go to the Alps in 2024?
A.To put back cores drilled years earlier. B.To trap scientific information in the ice.
C.To remove evidence of past climate. D.To collect ice cores from the glacier.
29.What does the underlined phrase “thinning out” mean?
A.Of poor quality. B.Growing much closer.
C.Less in amount. D.Having more layers.
30.What does paragraph 4 focus on?
A.Scientific data in ice cores. B.Main cause of global warming.
C.Changing levels of greenhouses. D.Plenty of samples of viruses.
31.Which places probably show the most alarming signs of glacier loss?
A.The Alps and the US. B.The Andes and Canada.
C.Greenland and Antarctica. D.Tibetan and the Alps.
D
For years, we’ve been teaching a class on music and the mind. At the start of each semester, we asked the students to complete a survey on their favorite songs and artists. Students’ favorite songs and artists get longer and more varied each year and their playlists barely overlap (重叠).
Indeed, listening to music is a deeply private and personal experience nowadays and even more so with the introduction of the iPhone and smartphones. When teenagers listen to music via streaming, artificial intelligence and social media platforms team up to suggest personalized playlists for them.
Some young people feel that AI generated playlists make them exposed to something uninteresting. Their playlists are populated with songs and artists they’ve never heard of before, yet they all sound similar. In the past, they might not have noticed such a situation. Their musical consumption was dominated (占主导) by the“Top-40” artists. However, AI generated playlists have changed this, since a wider range of music is available.
Furthermore, if they think their AI influenced playlists are unappealing, they still have the ability to search for new music just because AI doesn’t prevent them researching and discovering music on their own. Anything that exists, they can find. The store is always open.
As young people transition (过渡) from childhood to adulthood with various styles of music, two seemingly opposing processes become essential — forming a unique identity while becoming part of a community. Music listening and preferences play an important role in it and AI generated playlists may have the potential to challenge this transition.
Fears of new technologies are common. For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion. Will 50 million Americans ever again watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? And will AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others?
32.What do we know about students’ favorite playlists from the survey?
A.They are becoming more and more similar. B.They have little in common with each other.
C.They are mainly made up of Top-40 songs. D.They are designed by their music teachers.
33.Why do some young people dislike AI generated playlists?
A.The playlists are not updated in time. B.The music in the playlists is hard to find.
C.The music in the playlists sounds alike. D.The playlists lack personalized elements.
34.Which may the author agree with regarding young people’s transition to adulthood?
A.Listening to music has little effect on social bonding.
B.Young people should avoid using AI generated playlists.
C.Music preferences stop the development of personal identity.
D.Forming a unique identity and joining a community are both vital.
35.Why does the author mention the TV series Friends in the text?
A.To stress the power of traditional media. B.To introduce a popular TV show to readers.
C.To show the potential social influence of AI. D.To compare the current expression with past ones.

第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分 30分)
第一节:(共15小题;每小题 1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
As a teen, I hated aerobics. At the football court, I’d be the goalkeeper, only because it needed the least 41 . On sports days, if I couldn’t skip it, I’d pick long jump because it needs less energy.
Unlike my friends who played football or rugby for fun, I saw exercise as punishment. As an adult, I tried running and didn’t hate it, but I always thought I was 42 at it. It made me feel like I was back at school, coming last in relays and 43 myself.
Then, at 38, I ran with my 5-year-old daughter. We talked about it at home, and she got 44 . She said running sounded fun — and that reminded me: exercise should be 45 , not awful. I realized I chose to run now, not because I had to.
Friends told us about junior parkrun: 2km runs for kids aged 4-14, where adults can join. It’s all about fun, not being the 46 .
One cold Sunday morning, we went. Running with my daughter, I was shocked — she didn’t 47 or stop early. She really loved it. We didn’t compete or worry about 48 time; we just enjoyed running 49 . I didn’t even check our 50 on my app.
Later, when I ran alone and felt tired, my usual thought came: “Stop! You’re 51 !” But then I remembered how I encouraged my daughter that morning. So I told myself, “You’re doing great. Keep 52 .” It 53 ! I talked to myself like I talked to her — kindly, like I was talking to my younger self. I didn’t want her to see running as 54 , so I shouldn’t either.
Now, junior parkrun is our regular thing. I don’t care if I’m “good” or “bad” at running, and I don’t 55 myself to others. I just follow my daughter, enjoy the moment, and feel grateful my body lets me run with her. I don’t think about calories or kilometers anymore—only how good I feel.

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
John and his mother lived in a house far from the city. John loved to wander through the forest nearby. In the center of the forest was a shiny clear lake with schools of fish dancing in it. On his wanderings, John would often see animals such as deer and rabbits as he listened to the birds singing in the trees. Fascinated by the beauty and liveliness of nature, he decided to become a great artist and present all of these breathtaking scenes to the world.
John studied at the local high school. Life had not been easy for John and his mother since his father had died. His mother knew how important a good education was in life, but she was against his dream of becoming an artist. “How will you earn money as an artist?” she would ask. “It’s not a stable job.” But as John got older, his passion for art became stronger.
Due to their circumstances, buying new paint was a luxury that John could simply not afford. He used a worn drawing file and the limited colors he had to practice his craft. However, this lack of materials did not deter (使打消念头) him from his dream. He spent a significant amount of time in the forest, secretly perfecting his craft. With continuous hard work and a distinctive gift for art, he drew more and more beautifully with each passing day.
One day, John learned that there was going to be a drawing competition in town, and that the deadline for submitting entries (参赛作品) was only two days away. This was the perfect opportunity to fulfill his dream and show off his skills, but as he read the rules, he realized that he needed special paints and brushes for the competition. He didn’t have the courage to ask his mother for money as he knew she did not approve.
That evening, his mother returned from work and handed him some money, saying, “This is for your lunch at school next month.” The money was more than enough for the materials he desired! John’s face lit up.

W: Wow I wonder if the park keepers will let it stay there.
M: Who knows? But it’s clever how the tree and the squirrel work together without even knowing it.
W: Yeah! A perfect example of “teamwork making the dream work”.
M: Exactly. The tree feeds the squirrel, and the squirrel carries the baby trees away from their parents, so they’re not competing for light and water.
W: It’s rather inspiring. No matter how small, we all have important parts to play.

W: Fair enough! Hey, before we start preparing our speech, do you mind if I just watch the last bit of the football game on my phone?
M: Uh… I guess so. But I do need to be home by 8:00 p.m. at the latest. My parents are going to a movie tonight, so I said I’d look after my little sister.

【答案】28.D 29.C 30.A 31.C
根据第二段“In 2024, a UN research team went to harvest ice cores (核) from the glacier in the Alps.( 2024年,一支联合国研究团队前往阿尔卑斯山的冰川处采集冰芯样本)”可知,联合国研究团队在2024年前往阿尔卑斯山是为了从冰川中采集冰芯。故选D。
29.词句猜测题。根据划线词后文“Among the fastest melting glaciers are those in the Alps, but half the world’s glacial loss is from the US and Canada, and that ice core data could be lost forever.(在正在迅速消融的冰川中,阿尔卑斯山的冰川排在前列,但全球一半的冰川消融量来自美国和加拿大,而那些冰芯数据可能会永远消失)”可知,此处指冰川融化后数量减少、规模变薄的状态。故划线词意思是“数量逐渐减少”。故选C。
30.主旨大意题。根据第四段“What those cores reveal are changing levels of greenhouse gases like CO2 over the last 400,000 years and clues to global warming. But it is not just atmospheric make- up or events like volcanic eruptions that are recorded in ice cores. Scientists have found viruses nearly 15,000 years old in samples (样本) from a Tibetan glacier. Genetic codes for 33 viruses, 28 of them unknown to science, were discovered, and researchers hope to find out more about how viruses have advanced and how they might respond to climate change.(这些岩芯所揭示的是过去40万年中二氧化碳等温室气体的浓度变化情况,以及有关全球变暖的线索。但冰芯中记录的并不仅仅是大气成分或火山喷发等事件。科学家们在来自一个西藏冰川的样本中发现了近15000年前的病毒。研究人员发现了33种病毒的基因编码,其中28种是科学界未知的。他们希望进一步了解病毒的发展历程以及它们如何应对气候变化)”可知,第4段的重点是冰芯中的科学数据。故选A。
31.细节理解题。根据最后一段“But probably the most threatening signals of glacial loss come from places like Greenland and Antarctica, where ice melt raises global sea levels.(但或许最能表明冰川消融情况严重的信号,来自像格陵兰岛和南极洲这样的地区,那里冰层的融化会导致全球海平面上升)”可知,格陵兰岛和南极洲可能显示出冰川消融的最严重迹象。故选C。
【答案】32.B 33.C 34.D 35.C
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲的是AI生成的播放列表使青少年音乐聆听更私人化,同时可能对其身份形成及社交联结带来挑战。
32.细节理解题。根据第一段“Students’ favorite songs and artists get longer and more varied each year and their playlists barely overlap (重叠).(学生们最喜欢的歌曲和歌手每年都在增多且种类更加多样,而他们的播放列表之间几乎没有任何重叠)”可知,学生们最喜欢的播放列表彼此之间几乎没有共同之处。故选B。
33.细节理解题。根据第三段“Their playlists are populated with songs and artists they’ve never heard of before, yet they all sound similar.(他们的播放列表里收录的歌曲和歌手都是他们之前从未听过的,但这些歌曲听起来却都颇为相似)”可知,一些年轻人不喜欢由人工智能生成的播放列表是因为这些播放列表里的音乐听起来都差不多。故选C。
34.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“As young people transition (过渡) from childhood to adulthood with various styles of music, two seemingly opposing processes become essential — forming a unique identity while becoming part of a community. Music listening and preferences play an important role in it and AI generated playlists may have the potential to challenge this transition.(随着年轻人从童年步入成年,他们接触并喜爱着各种不同的音乐风格。在这过程中,出现了两个看似相互对立的必然环节——确立独特的个人身份以及融入某个群体。音乐聆听和喜好在此过程中起着重要作用,而由人工智能生成的播放列表或许有可能对这一过渡过程构成挑战)”可知,对于年轻人向成年阶段的过渡,作者认为形成独特的自我认同以及融入某个群体这两点都至关重要。故选D。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion. Will 50 million Americans ever again watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? And will AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others?(例如,传统电视网固定节目档的衰落,抹去了许多可供人们交流的共同话题。还会有五千万美国人如同 2004 年追看《老友记》大结局那样,一同守着看一部电视剧的收官之作吗?而人工智能又是否会让人们更易彰显自我个性,却更难与他人建立情感联结?)”可知,作者提到《老友记》是为了展示AI潜在的社会影响,故选C。

【答案】36.G 37.E 38.B 39.F 40.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章阐述了自我关怀的定义及其在身体、社交、心理和情感四个维度的具体内涵与实践方法,并强调自我关怀的方式应因人而异。
36.上文“Self-care includes intentional actions to support your well-being. It includes activities designed to care for your physical, mental, and emotional health. (自我关怀包括为支持个人幸福而采取的有意行动。它包括旨在照顾你身体、心理和情感健康的活动)”首先给出了自我关怀的定义,并简要介绍了其涵盖的范围。G选项“Understanding self-care can help you create a balanced way to care for yourself. (理解自我关怀能帮助你建立一种平衡的自我关怀方式)”承接上文,自然地指出了理解以上概念的最终目的,即帮助个人建立适合自己的、平衡的自我关怀体系。这与文章接下来要分维度详细展开的结构相呼应。故选G项。
37.上文“Remember that there’s a strong connection between our body and our mind. (记住,我们的身体和心灵之间有着紧密的联系)”提出了“身心紧密相连”的核心观点。E选项“When we care for our bodies, we’ll think and feel better, too. (当我们照顾好身体时,我们的思维和感觉也会更好)”是上文观点的具体延伸和结果阐述,它说明了“照顾身体”这一行为如何直接作用于“思维和感觉”(即心理层面),从而体现了身心连接的具体运作方式。故选E项。
38.上文“Socialization is key to self-care. (社交是自我关怀的关键)”是“社交自我关怀”这一段落的核心论点。B选项“But, often, it’s hard to make time for friends. (但是,我们常常很难腾出时间给朋友)”通过转折词“But”引出了实践这一关键原则时遇到的普遍现实困难。这与下文“We sometimes ignore our relationships when life gets busy. (当生活忙碌时,我们有时会忽略我们的关系)” 描述的忽略关系的现象直接对应,并共同引出了“The best way to keep close relationships is to put time and energy into building our relationships with others. (维持亲密关系的最佳方式是将时间和精力投入到我们与他人的关系中)”这一解决方法的必要性。上下文逻辑连贯。故选B项。
39.上文“Mental self-care includes activities that keep your mind sharp, like puzzles or learning about a subject that attracts you. (心理自我关怀包括保持思维敏锐的活动,比如解谜或学习你感兴趣的学科)”通过举例“解谜”和“学习”来说明何为“保持思维敏锐”的活动。F选项“Reading books or watching inspiring movies might also refresh your mind. (阅读书籍或观看励志电影也可能使你的思维焕然一新)”通过“also”一词与上文并列,提供了另一类“刷新思维”、有益心理健康的常见活动例子(阅读、观影),丰富了心理自我关怀的实践方式,并使内容更加完整。故选F项。
40.下文“What works for you might not be as effective or helpful for someone else. The best way to support yourself is to find things that help reduce your stress, bring you joy, and support your physical and social well-being. (对你有用的方法可能对别人不那么有效或有益。支持自己的最佳方式是找到有助于减轻压力、带来快乐并支持你身体和社交健康的事情)”具体阐述了自我关怀方法的个体差异性,并给出了个性化实践的建议。A选项“Remember, self-care isn’t one-size-fits-all. (记住,自我关怀并非“一刀切”的)”是下文内容的高度概括和总结,作为段首句直接点明了段落的核心观点,与下文构成“总-分”关系,语意连贯。故选A项。

第二节 (满分 25 分)

【答案】
