B It had been more than ten years since the three sisters had been together like this, their eyes filled with tears. The eldest sister, 110-year-old Rubye, stayed warm under a soft blanket. Her two younger sisters — 104-year-old Ruth and 101-year-old Rose — held one of her hands each. They chatted about their favorite old stories, laughing happily. This warm family get-together was made possible by Wish of a Lifetime, a charity group. It paid for Rose to fly from Florida and Ruth from Oklahoma, so they could visit Rubye at her nursing home in Rhode Island. The group was started by Jeremy Bloom, a former Olympic skier and football player. When he traveled around the world as an athlete, he found that people in other countries respected and cared for old people much more than people did in America. Bloom first got the idea when he was 15. He went to Asia for a ski race and saw an old woman walking slowly to get on a bus. Many passengers offered to help her, which touched him deeply. The idea stayed in his mind for ten years before he turned it into the Wish of a Lifetime group. Though Bloom had many great moments in sports — competing in two Olympics, making a long football pass in college, and being chosen by a top football team, he often worried about finding a new goal after his sports career (职业) ended. In 2008, Bloom set up the charity group. He copied the idea of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps sick kids make their wishes come true, and used it to help old people, whether they were sick or not. Today, Wish of a Lifetime has 26 full-time workers and about 25,000 volunteers across the country. It gets money from people’s donations and company support. So far, it has helped make 3,000 wishes come true. Bloom now works as the CEO of X Games, but he once spent all his time on this charity, hoping to change as many old people’s lives as possible. 4. What is the purpose of the first paragraph? A. To show the three sisters’ wish. B. To explain how the three sisters kept in touch. C. To describe the three elderly sisters’ activities. D. To lead to the topic of a senior-focused charity. 5. What inspired Bloom to set up Wish of a Lifetime? A. His professional experiences as an athlete. B. His observation of respect for seniors abroad. C. His memory of him helping an Asian old lady. D. His worry about finding a new goal after his career. 6. Which can best describe Jeremy Bloom? A. Brave and polite. B. Curious and patient. C. Adventurous and kind. D. Caring and responsible. 7. What can we learn about Wish of a Lifetime? A. It has gained wide popularity. B. It gets support from government. C. It takes all Bloom’s time to run the charity now. D. It helps sick kids to make their wishes come true. C An adult African elephant has about 223 liters of water and 300 pounds of roots, grass and fruit daily. That’s like having 634 cans of soda and 1,200 hamburgers every day. This keeps elephants moving thousands of miles across Africa each year. Elephants usually migrate (迁徙) at the beginning of the dry season, between June and November. Females live in groups with their children, and quickly run out of the food supply. They hit the road in search of food. Male elephants live alone, so they don’t use resources as quickly as the females. Instead, they migrate during the mating season. When the females move, so do the males. During migration, elephants face a shortage of water and extremely high temperatures. But people are their number one problem. Poachers (偷猎者) kill about 35,000 elephants each year for ivory. Many African farmers build fences to protect crops and cattle, which might block regular migration paths. Roads affect elephant migration, too. During one study of 28 elephants in Central Africa, only one female crossed a protected road. Scientists, wildlife organisations and governments find solutions for Africa’s elephants. “To know the secret of where elephants move and how they move, we place collars (颈圈) with a satellite unit inside,” Dr. Michael Chase says. GPS collars help map which routes elephants use most so that countries can build protected elephant roads. Locals come in as well. James Isiche, the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s Africa Director, says, “We have got the community on our side by a project; they’ve agreed to partner with us to protect elephants.” The local community runs wildlife parks to attract tourists. “This project helps us take care of both the wildlife and our cows,” says Sikira, a tribal elder in Maasai, Kenya. Protecting elephant migration routes allows them to survive. 8. What does the underlined phrase “hit the road” probably mean in Paragraph 2? A. Stay in place. B. Repair the road. C. Set out to travel. D. Damage the road. 9. What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A. Difficulties in migrating. B. Reasons for killing elephants. C. Unexpected Results of poaching. D. Efforts to protect migration paths. 10. What can GPS collars help countries do for elephants? A. Attract more tourists to wildlife parks. B. Ask local communities to protect elephants. C. Establish protected elephant roads for migration. D. Make local people take care of their cattle better. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. Say No to Ivory B. Ready for Migration C. Technology in Migration D. A Journey Across Africa D When Hurricanes Milton and Helene struck Tampa, thousands of Floridians faced uncertainty. For cultural institutions (机构) and collectors, the risks have grown greater: It’s not just homes and businesses but also invaluable pieces of art and cultural identity at risk. After Hurricane Helene, many Floridians took unheard-of steps, safeguarding their beloved items such as family photos and personal art collections. The Tampa Museum of Art managed to reopen, though the pressure and weaknesses were clear to see. Museum workers stayed at the building during the storm, and the director spent three days there to protect the art even when he was told to leave the area. These efforts bring up a larger question: What happens when even our best preparations aren’t enough? Unlike buildings that can be rebuilt, history and heritage cannot be reproduced. The importance of protecting cultural heritage also goes beyond its historical value. Art and cultural collections inspire creativity in artists, designers, thinkers and travelers, and offer spaces for learning and community connection. This problem is not unique to Florida. In the world, climate (气候) change endangers sites like Venice’s historic buildings, China’s Mogao Caves, and Nigeria’s Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove. A survey shows 35% of museum directors in the US report that climate-related events have directly influenced their institutions, with extreme weather and flooding among the main causes. Protecting these cultural institutions requires costly upgrades (升级) and they need public and private support. Projects like the European Regional Development Fund and Horizon Europe are already supporting cultural protection in the face of climate challenges, enabling museums to spend money on flood walls, climate control, and digital ways to save art. In Florida, the Broward County Cultural Division focuses on protecting cultural treasures and supporting the area’s artist community. These artworks are our collective memory. The actions we take today to protect cultural heritage will tell tomorrow’s generation who we were, what we valued, and how we rose to meet the challenges of our time. Let’s ensure this story doesn’t end with a storm. 12. What can we learn about the Tampa Museum of Art after Hurricane Helene? A. It failed to reopen. B. It was badly damaged. C. It was kept safe by its workers. D. It lost many valuable art collections. 13. What can we infer from the paragraph 3? A. The loss of cultural heritage is a loss that can never be made up for. B. Cultural heritage’s greatest value lies in its inspiration for creativity. C. Buildings are of no importance compared with local cultural heritage. D. Better preparations can completely solve heritage protection problems. 14. Why does the writer mention the three culture sites in paragraph 4? A. To list the most famous cultural sites around the world. B. To show climate change harms cultural sites worldwide. C. To explain extreme weather is the main cause of cultural loss. D. To prove Florida’s cultural protection work is far from enough. 15. What’s author’s attitude towards the efforts to protect cultural heritage? A. Unsure. B. Concerned. C. Doubtful. D. Positive. How to Use Social Media and Email Safely In today’s digital age, social media and email have become daily communication tools for everyone. ____16____. The kitchen was a place for activity, with the children, the 4-year-old Emma and the 12-year-old Jake, helping out to the best of their abilities. Emma was mixing the sauce (酱汁), her small arms working slowly and carefully, while Jake was tasked with cutting the cheese, a job he took with great pride. Mr. Olivia usually was at the table, rolling out the dough (面团) with the help of his wife. The family was busy with their yearly tradition of making lasagna together, a time that brought them closer and allowed them to share stories and laughter. As the night went on, the conversation turned to the week’s events. Emma talked about her wins at school, and Jake talked about his recent soccer game. Their parents listened patiently, offering words of encouragement and advice. Just when everyone felt in harmony, Emma looked over at Jake with a curious eye. She wanted to try Jake’s job of cutting the cheese, but he didn’t agree. He thought Emma was too little for such a big task. They started arguing back and forth, their voices getting louder. During the disagreement, they accidentally knocked over the sauce, and it poured all over the kitchen floor. Emma cried, feeling worried about the mess and the argument. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With their mom’s advice, Jake began to teach Emma how to cut the cheese. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 河南省实验中学2025——2026学年上期期末试卷 年级:高一 科目:英语 (时间:120分钟,满分150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. 4. D 5. B 6. D 7. Many passengers offered to help her, which touched him deeply.(布鲁姆在15岁时就有了这个想法。 根据布鲁姆创立慈善组织帮助老人实现愿望,以及最后一段“Bloom now works as the CEO of X Games, but he once spent all his time on this charity, hoping to change as many old people’s lives as possible.(布鲁姆现在是X Games的首席执行官,但他曾经把所有的时间都花在这个慈善事业上,希望能改变尽可能多的老年人的生活)”可知,他是一个有爱心且有责任心的人。 根据最后一段中“Today, Wish of a Lifetime has 26 full-time workers and about 25,000 volunteers across the country. A Journey Across Africa 【答案】8. C 9. A 10. C 11. A. Unsure. B. Concerned. C. Doubtful. D. Positive. 12. C 13. A 14. B 15. The following guidelines can ensure the benefits of digital communication while safeguarding yourself in the online world. Make your profiles (个人资料) private. You can choose a privacy option that lets only you or your friends see your profile. ____17____. You need to open your account settings, go to the security or privacy menu, and check or change your privacy level there. Think about whether you’ll regret posting something later. ____18____. He described such a happy scene as “(All living things) each live by their respective nature.” Only in this way could human beings share real happiness with their fellow beings. 36. generations 37. which 38. equal 39. a 40. that 41. strongly 42. to keep 43. be driven 44. as##for 45. singing 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 空处引导非限制性定语从句,修饰先行词the idea of “Heaven and Earth giving birth to all life”,且关系词在从句中作主语,所以空处需用关系代词which。故填which。 故填a。 故填that。 It is+adj.+to do sth. 故填to keep。 主语ferocious (凶猛的) animals like wolves and tigers和动词drive之间是被动关系,且空前有情态动词should,需用情态动词should的被动语态:should be done,表示“应该被做”,drive的过去分词为driven。故填be driven。 故填as或for。 hear sb./sth. doing sth. A Memorable Day: The First Campus Mini-marathon ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: A Memorable Day: The First Campus Mini-marathon On January 5th, our school held its first campus mini-marathon, attracting over 200 students and teachers. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Emma cried, feeling worried about the mess and the argument. Jake stood still, his face flushed and his head bowed. He also got upset about the argument. Their father looked at them in silence while their mom came over and calmed them down. “It’s OK, honey,” she said. “Argument will bring much trouble, so let’s change it in another way.” Instead of scolding, she suggested they work together to clean up the mess. And then, she asked Jake to show Emma how to use the knife properly, turning the situation into a learning opportunity. With their mom’s advice, Jake began to teach Emma how to cut the cheese. At first, Jake showed his movements to Emma, and Emma watched carefully. Later, Jake told her how to hold the knife and where to cut the cheese without hurting herself. Gradually, Emma’s tears stopped, and she began to smile as she made her first successful cheese cut. The kitchen then was full of laughter and encouragement again. After their delicious dinner and the clean up, they all went to sleep. A sense of love, understanding, and the simple joy of being a family filled the quiet kitchen, along with memories of the day. 词汇激活 行为类 ①走过来:came over/come up/walk over ②使用:use/utilize ③建议:suggest/advise 情绪类 ①沮丧:upset/frustrated 【点睛】[高分句型1] Instead of scolding, she suggested they work together to clean up the mess.
