Language points
They think I have a real gift for painting.
(1) gift n.天赋,才能 (可数名词)
have a gift/talent for … 对……有天赋
for后面跟名词、代词或动名词
e.g. My son has a gift/talent for singing.
(2) gift n.礼物 (可数名词)
e.g. It’s a valuable gift from my best friend.
Looking at the mark, I decided to blow it.
looking at the mark是现在分词短语,在句中用作状语。现在分词短语作状语,可以表示时间、原因、条件、让步、方式、伴随等,现在分词短语的逻辑主语和句子的主语相同,主语与该动作是主动关系。
e.g. The children had snowball fights, screaming and laughing.

encourage sb. to do sth.意为“鼓励某人做某事”
encourage sb. not to do sth.意为“鼓励某人不要做某事”。
She encouraged me to keep trying and make more wonderful pictures. 她鼓励我继续尝试并创作出更多精彩的画。
e.g. She does speak English very well.
她英语确实说的非常好。
句中的did表示强调。助动词do可以用于肯定句的动词前以加强语气,其后动词用原形。
I did make some wonderful pictures later.
后来我确实创作出一些精彩的画。

Of all the things that make me happy, I like singingbest. Many of my friends praise me when they hear Me singing. However, I once did not like singing because I felt nervous when singing or speaking in front of many people. I became interested in singing when I was ten years old.
post writing:
One day, my friends and I were celebrating my teeth birthday. My friendswanted me to sing a song for them. I had never sung in front of many people and was not brave enough tosing. But all my friends encouraged me. I finally sang a song and all my friends cheered me for my singing. They said that I had a real gift for singing.
