In our daily life, we always think that we are so strong that we hardly care about oral health (口腔健康). However, it's really important for us. These days, a dentist in Beijing shares with us some tips on how to have healthy teeth.
It's more than just about having a healthy mouth. Our mouth is the first place where food goes, and it stops bacteria getting into our stomach. Keeping our mouth clean and healthy helps our stomach work well. And our mouth makes a difference to our confidence too. Problems like teeth can make us not want to talk to others.
Tooth decay is one common oral problem faced by teenagers. If your teeth have dark spots or hurt when eating hot foods or are very hot or cold, that means you have it. Tooth decay can do harm to the life of the tooth. Then there's periodontitis (牙周炎). Your gums (牙龈) are always sore and it often happens when you don't take good care of your mouth and teeth. It could cause losing (松动) of the teeth.
In order to have healthy teeth, you need to have some good habits. It's best to brush your teeth for three to five minutes at a time. But it's best not to brush your teeth for more than five minutes because it can hurt your gums. Brush your teeth two to three times a day. The most important time is in the evening when you brush your teeth before bed. You'd better gargle with water after every meal, to wash away bacteria from the food.
For dental floss (牙线), if you have straight teeth with few gaps, then floss once a week. If not, use dental floss daily.

There is good news for young girls across China. Starting from 10th November 2025, girls who are 13 years old (born on or after 10th November, 2011) can receive HPV vaccines (疫苗) at no cost. Each girl will get two shots, with six months between them. Health experts say this is a big step toward preventing cervical cancer (宫颈癌) and protecting women's health.
Cervical cancer is one of the few cancers that people can keep from starting. Vaccines and screening (筛查) both help keep people from getting it. Yet China still faces a big challenge. In 2022, about 151,000 women in China developed cervical cancer. That's almost one in five cases worldwide.
"China is helping its young girls stay safe from cervical cancer," said Martin Taylor from the World Health Organization (WHO). "This move also helps bring the world closer to ending the disease." The WHO suggests that girls aged 9 to 14 receive the HPV vaccine, as it works best before they get the virus. Studies show that early vaccination can help them have fewer infections and stay healthy in the future.
The program for 13-year-olds is only the beginning. China plans to reach more teenagers soon. The WHO is supporting this program by training doctors and nurses, sharing information, and making the program run well.
By doing this, China is moving toward its "Healthy China 2030" plan. This program also fits with what the WHO wants to do—end cervical cancer. "This shows what can happen when science, leadership, and public health come together," Mr Taylor said. "The WHO is proud to support this plan and hopes every girl can grow up healthy and free from cervical cancer."

Many terrible things happen in the kitchen every year. However, we often forget how dangerous they can be because we go there every day. In fact, the kitchen is one of the most common places for home accidents. There are many reasons: Some kitchen designs are poor, or people do something wrong while cooking. No matter what the reason is, you can't be too careful in the kitchen. Then how can you try to keep yourselves away from dangers in the kitchen?
First of all, always keep your kitchen clean and tidy. Clean your stove and oven after use. Don't leave food on the stove or in the oven, or it may catch fire. If there is water on the floor, remember to clean it up right away, or it can easily make you fall.
Secondly, keep dangerous kitchen things in the right place. Knives, scissors and other sharp (锋利的) things can be dangerous for young children. Instead of putting them on the table, keep them where children cannot reach. But don't put them too high, or they may hurt you when they fall down.
Thirdly, don't leave the kitchen when you are cooking. You must stay in the kitchen to keep an eye on the food you cook. And don't look at your phone or do other things. If you have to be away from the kitchen, turn off the stove.
Finally, as many fires start in the kitchen, prepare a fire extinguisher at home. You can put it in a dry and cool place in your home instead of near the stove. And make sure you know how to put out a fire with it. Don't wait to read the instructions until you have a fire in the kitchen.

“I try to sleep, but my eyes always stay open until 2 a. m.,” said Li Pengfei, a 29-year-old man in Shenzhen. He has the sleeping problem for over two years.
A student in Beijing called Yang Lin is busy in the day, so she stays up late to enjoy hours of “me time” at night. She doesn’t have enough time to rest. These two examples are common among Chinese young people. More than 38% of them have sleeping problems, which is higher than the global (全球的) average of 27%, according to China Sleep Research Society (CSRS). And here is some useful advice from the CSRS experts.
★Get Enough Sleep
How many hours of sleep are enough for good health? For adults, 7 to 8 hours is fine. For teenagers, they are advised to sleep for at least 9 hours. Primary students should get at least 10 hours’ sleep.
★Eat Healthy Food
We can keep ourselves fit by eating healthy food, like fruit, vegetables and eggs. They are good choices to stop sickness. A healthy person usually has good sleep.
★Relax Before Sleeping
Don’t get over-excited or too nervous before going to bed because it is the same as drinking coffee. Instead, you can try something to keep yourself calm. For example, you can listen to light music, take a warm bath or practise yoga.
★Have a Comfortable Sleeping Environment
Make your bedroom clean, quiet and dark. Actually, a comfortable bed matters most. Don’t play phones or computers for a long time because the blue light from them is bad for sleep.
Just like Benjamin Franklin said, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Sleep is important as it helps our bodies rest well from the stress of living. The better you sleep, the healthier you will be.

What will you do if you see an old man lying on the side of the road? If you know first aid and have received first aid training, you can provide him with help before professional (专业的) help arrives.
First aid is the first and immediate (及时的) help given to someone who suddenly falls ill or gets hurt before doctors arrive. First aid plays a main part as it can save life when people do it correctly and in time. It includes (包括) making the person stay safe, and helping him or her feel better and stay calm. It also includes getting help, either by telling an adult or calling 120.
First aid is an important life skill that everyone should learn. Doctors say the first 10 minutes after something unexpected happened is quite important for saving a life. Someone may die without immediate first aid. Here are some steps you should follow.
◆Fall down.
If someone falls down and can't move, you should call 120 at once. Then he or she can be sent to the hospital in time. It's necessary to think it again before you want to move the patient because it may cause other problems.
◆Get hurt by a knife.
Clean the cut and put a bandage on it right away in order that the person will not lose too much blood. If a person loses 1/3 of the blood, he may die.
◆Animal bites (咬伤).
Wash the bite area with soap and water. Pack (包扎) it with a clean cloth, cover the area with a bandage and take the person to the hospital right away. Make sure you remember what kind of animal it is, so the doctor can find the right way to treat him or her at once.
◆Get burned.
First, find out how bad it is. If there is nothing serious, put the burned area under cold running water.
