详解:
1. not only...but also...不仅……而且…·
连接的成分必须前后一致(名词 / 代词 / 动词 / 形容词 / 短语 / 句子等);可省略 also,也可将 but also 替换为but...as well,语义不变;遵循就近原则:当连接两个主语时,谓语动词的单复数由but also后的主语决定。
eg:Not only does reading broaden our horizons, but also it enriches our spiritual world.(阅读不仅开阔我们的视野,还丰富我们的精神世界。)
This policy will not only promote economic development, but also improve people's living standards.(这项政策不仅会推动经济发展,还会提高人民的生活水平。)
Not only should we learn knowledge at school, but also we should cultivate our practical abilities.(我们不仅要在学校学习知识,还要培养实践能力。)
2. There comes a time when.......的时代到来了
There comes a time when... 是倒装句式,核心含义为… 的时代来临了 / 终有一刻,……;主句常用一般现在时 (comes)(表客观、普遍的情况,最常用);若描述过去的特定时刻,可改为 There came a time when...;
eg: There comes a time when you have to make a choice.
终有一刻,你必须做出选择。
There comes a time when silence is not enough.
沉默已无济于事的时代,终究会到来。
There came a time when I had to leave my hometown.
曾有那么一刻,我不得不离开我的家乡。
3. as 引导非限制性定语从句
只能指代整个主句的全部内容(不能指代单个名词 / 代词),从句对主句内容进行补充、说明或评论; 可置于主句前、主句中、主句后(这是 as 区别于 which 的核心特征之一,which 引导的非限制性定从只能放主句后),置中时用逗号与主句隔开;在从句中可作主语、宾语、表语,不可省略。
eg: As we all know, hard work leads to success.众所周知,努力造就成功。(as 作 know 的宾语,指代后文主句内容)
As shown in the picture, a boy is reading a book carefully.如图所示,一个男孩正在认真看书。(as 作 shown 的宾语)
