And no matter who you are, you can find safe, fun ways to get a little more active. The evidence is clear. Adults who get regular physical activity gain lots of health benefits. Being active can help: ·Boost your mood and improve your sleep. ·Lower your risk of heart disease and some cancers. ·Help keep diabetes and high blood pressure under control. Use the following planner to set goals, choose activities you want to do, and get tips to help you stay motivated. When you’re done, print your plan to track activity throughout the week. Is it moderate or vigorous? Use the “talk test” to find out. When you’re being active, just try talking: ·If you’re breathing hard but can still have a conversation easily, it’s moderate-intensity activity. ·If you can only say a few words before you have to take a breath, it’s vigorous-intensity activity. After you choose an activity, you can add how many minutes and days per week you want to do that activity. 1. What function of the planner is mentioned? A. To cure disease. B. To track exercise. C. To improve sleep. D. To arrange courses. 2. Which activity can help build up muscles? A. B. C. D. 3. How to judge a moderate or vigorous activity? A. By breathing hard. B. By speaking fast. C. By counting exercise minutes. D. By checking conversation ease. B 2. A 3. 根据第六段“When you’re done, print your plan to track activity throughout the week.(完成后,请将你的计划打印出来,以便在接下来的一周里随时跟踪活动情况)”可知,该规划工具可以记录一周的运动情况。 根据第七段“Is it moderate or vigorous? Use the “talk test” to find out.(它是中等强度的还是剧烈的呢?用“交谈测试”来确定一下就知道了)”以及后文“·If you’re breathing hard but can still have a conversation easily, it’s moderate-intensity activity. ·If you can only say a few words before you have to take a breath, it’s vigorous-intensity activity. After you choose an activity, you can add how many minutes and days per week you want to do that activity.(·如果你呼吸急促但仍能轻松地进行对话,这属于中等强度的活动。 ·如果你说几句话就得喘口气,那这就是高强度活动。 在你选择一项活动后,你可以增加每周想要进行该活动的分钟数和天数)”对中等强度和高强度运动的描述,可知判断运动强度的标准是能否轻松进行对话。故选D选项。 B I cannot remember a time when I did not want to go to Africa to study animals. Therefore, after leaving school, I saved up the fare and went to Nairobi, Kenya. There I was fortunate in meeting and working for Dr. Louis Leakey who advised me to undertake a field study of chimpanzees. Chimpanzees have been known to scientists for nearly 300 years. They look very similar to humans, so they’re widely used as experimental animals in medicine and other fields. But before Dr. Henry W. Nissen did his first study in French Guinea, no one had tried to study these chimpanzees where they naturally live. I found his 1931 report invaluable as I prepared my own program. The primary aim of my field study was to discover as much as possible about the way of life of the chimpanzee before it is too late. Second there is the hope that results of this research may help man in his search toward understanding himself. Laboratory tests have revealed a surprising amount of “insight” in the chimpanzee — the basic ability to think logically. Knowledge of social traditions and culture of such an animal, studied under natural conditions, could throw new light on the growth and spread of early human cultures. In England, before I started my field study, I met one or two people who had seen chimpanzees in the wild. “You’ll never get close to chimps — not unless you’re very well hidden,” they told me. At first it seemed they were right, but gradually I was able to move nearer the chimpanzees. I watched and set down details of their lives never recorded before. I began to learn the basic behavior patterns of the chimpanzees without disturbing them, and after six months I was able to pick out and name some individuals. People often ask me how I choose such names for individual chimpanzees. My answer is that some names — such as Mrs. Maggs, Spray, and Mr. McGregor — simply come to mind. Strange as it may sound, some chimpanzees remind me of friends in some gesture or manner and are named accordingly. 4. Who inspired the author to do the research? A. Dr. Leakey. B. Dr. McGregor. C. Dr. Maggs. D. Dr. Nissen. 5. Why was Dr. Nissen’s study on chimpanzees precious to the author? A. It focused on their nature. B. It revealed their social traditions. C. It was conducted in their natural habitat. D. It was widely applied in medical experiments. 6. What may be the potential significance behind the author’s research? A. To stop hunters from killing chimpanzees. B. To develop effective tests for chimpanzees. C. To help humans understand themselves better. D. To prove similarity between chimpanzees and humans. 7. How did the author manage to study wild chimpanzees? A. By naming them. B. By hiding very well. C. With the help of locals. D. Through patient observation. A 5. C 6. C 7. 根据第一段“There I was fortunate in meeting and working for Dr. Louis Leakey who advised me to undertake a field study of chimpanzees.(在那里,我有幸结识了路易斯·利基博士,并得以为他工作。他鼓励我开展有关黑猩猩的实地研究)”可知,路易斯·利基博士建议作者开展野生黑猩猩的实地研究,他是启发作者开展这项研究的人。故选A。 根据第二段“But before Dr. Henry W. Nissen did his first study in French Guinea, no one had tried to study these chimpanzees where they naturally live. I found his 1931 report invaluable as I prepared my own program.(但在亨利·W·尼森博士在法属几内亚进行首次研究之前,还没有人尝试在这些黑猩猩的自然栖息地对其进行研究。在筹备我自己的研究计划时,我发现他 1931 年的报告非常宝贵)”可知,尼森博士是首个在黑猩猩自然栖息地开展研究的人,其研究报告对作者的研究计划极具参考价值。故选C。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Second, there is the hope that results of this research may help man in his search toward understanding himself.(其次,人们期望此次研究的成果能够帮助人类更好地探索自我认知)”可知,作者开展这项研究的期望之一,就是希望研究成果能帮助人类更好地理解自身。 根据最后一段“At first it seemed they were right, but gradually I was able to move nearer the chimpanzees. I watched and set down details of their lives never recorded before. I began to learn the basic behavior patterns of the chimpanzees without disturbing them, and after six months I was able to pick out and name some individuals.(起初,似乎他们的看法是正确的,但渐渐地我能够靠近那些黑猩猩了。我观察着,并记录下了它们生活中的细节,这些细节此前从未有人记录过。我开始在不打扰它们的情况下了解黑猩猩的基本行为模式,六个月后,我能够辨认出并叫出其中一些个体的名字了)”可知,作者凭借数月的耐心观察,在不干扰黑猩猩的前提下观察并学习其行为模式,成功接近了野生黑猩猩。故选D。 C While planes get you there faster, there’s just something extra special about traveling by train. Perhaps it’s the comfortable seats, the slow-moving view, or the soft rocking of the carriage, but this old-school style of transportation has all the others beaten. If you want to make the experience even more amazing, it’s time to head to the Keystone State for a ride on the vintage (复古的) Strasburg Train. Located in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, it holds the honor of being the oldest continuously operating railroad in the nation. The first rides departed in 1832, taking travelers through the breathtaking scenery in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. For more than a century, the train’s website explains, it continued to run along until it was purchased by local investors (投资者) in 1958 and turned into a goods-carrying service. Today, it continues that service, but welcomes passengers for historic rides, too. Those who want to step back in time can board the steam train for a 45-minute round-trip ride through Amish Country — 4.5 miles each way — in perfectly restored and maintained original equipment. Passengers can choose between assorted themed rides, including a lunch or dinner train service, a wine and cheese-tasting ride, a whisky-tasting train, and even a themed Bonnie and Clyde experience. Guests also have a choice of several passenger cars, including the President’s Car, the First Class Parlor Car, the First Class Lounge and the Dining Car. Tickets are available for daily rides, along with specialty-themed tours for special occasions, including Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and holiday rides. But, perhaps most importantly, the train line notes, “Your ticket also helps preserve this history for future generations as it is reinvested back into the railroad.” And there’s no better way to spend your travel dollars than that. 8. How does the author lead to the topic in the first paragraph? A. By telling a story. B. By presenting data. C. By making a comparison. D. By describing a phenomenon. 9. What aspect of the Strasburg Train is mainly talked about in the second paragraph? A. Scenic views. B. Themed services. C. Specific location. D. Historic background. 10. What does the underlined word “assorted” in the third paragraph mean? A. Various. B. Expensive. C. Special. D. Rough. 11. What do you contribute to the Strasburg Train by buying a ticket? A. Diversity of themes. B. Fund for protection. C. Increase in popularity. D. Improvement in efficiency. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“While planes get you there faster, there’s just something extra special about traveling by train.(虽然乘飞机能更快到达目的地,但乘坐火车旅行却有着别具一格的特别之处)”可知,作者通过对比飞机旅行和火车旅行的特点引出主题,故选C。 根据第二段“Located in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, it holds the honor of being the oldest continuously operating railroad in the nation. The first rides departed in 1832, taking travelers through the breathtaking scenery in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. For more than a century, the train’s website explains, it continued to run along until it was purchased by local investors (投资者) in 1958 and turned into a goods-carrying service. Today, it continues that service, but welcomes passengers for historic rides, too.(该铁路位于宾夕法尼亚州的斯特拉斯堡市,美国最古老的、持续运营至今的铁路。1832年,首批列车启程,载着旅客穿越宾夕法尼亚德克萨斯地区的壮丽景色。据其网站介绍,该列车在长达一个多世纪的时间里一直运行,直到1958年被当地投资者收购,并转为货物运输服务。如今,它仍继续提供这一服务,同时也欢迎乘客进行具有历史意义的旅行)”可知,第二段围绕其历史背景展开,故选D。 【10题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词后文“a lunch or dinner train service, a wine and cheese-tasting ride, a whisky-tasting train, and even a themed Bonnie and Clyde experience(包括午餐或晚餐专列服务、葡萄酒与奶酪品鉴之旅、威士忌品鉴专列,甚至还有以邦妮和克莱德为主题的体验活动)”可知,此处指多种主题的列车服务,因此“assorted”意为“各种各样的”,故选A。 根据最后一段“Your ticket also helps preserve this history for future generations as it is reinvested back into the railroad.(你的车票还能为后世子孙保留这段历史,因为其收益会被重新投入到铁路建设中)”可知,售票所得到的资金会重新投入铁路建设,用于保护这一历史遗产,即为铁路保护提供资金,故选B。 D We have a rapidly aging population, a decreasing birthrate and a care-giving workforce that is burning out. From 2023 to 2024, the number of adults 65 and older grew by 3.1% while the number of children under 18 dropped. In nearly half of U.S. counties, seniors outnumber children. Half of Americans 65 and older have nothing at all saved for future living assistance. We must start thinking about who will take care of grandma and grandpa. For most families, Outsourcing eldercare is extremely expensive. Nearly a third of Americans 65 and older live alone. I believe that robots will assume the care of many of them. A robot would ideally be a one-time expense, requiring minimal maintenance (维修) and receiving updates through cloud-computing technology. A limited number of friends and relatives would struggle to provide unpaid care to aging adults. By contrast, a robot could function around the clock. A tireless robot — made possible through gains in battery life and the ability to self-charge — could reduce such problems. But robot caregivers leave all of us with ethical (伦理的) questions. Robot-led eldercare could further isolate (隔绝) seniors who might be better served by community activities in an assisted-living or nursing home. Although social isolation remains a real problem, robots need not mean loneliness. Reliable robotic companions could accompany seniors outside the home for walks or to community events. They could improve, rather than lessen social contact. And while actual human contact is preferable, it has real disadvantages. Human caregivers can lose their tempers, but robots are unlikely to have that problem. In one recent study, observers found artificial-intelligence-generated responses to be more understanding, supportive and kind than those of humans. A robot with AI-assisted voice technology could potentially understand emotion and meaning, clarify instructions, and respond to commands in real time. 12. What is the author’s attitude towards the aging problem? A. Concerned. B. Confident. C. Optimistic. D. Curious. 13. What advantage do robot caregivers have over human caregivers according to paragraph 3? A. More social. B. More reliable. C. More flexible. D. More economical. 14. Which word can best describe AI-assisted robot-led eldercare? A. Preferable. B. Promising. C. Ideal. D. Ethical. 15. Which could be a suitable title for the passage? A. Robots Are Changing Healthcare B. Too Many Seniors, Too Few helpers C. Robotic Caregivers: A Solution to Eldercare Problems D. Global Aging Crisis: Challenges and Traditional Solutions 【答案】12. A 13. She disliked her next-door neighbour, Mrs. Smith. The reason was simple. Outside Mrs. Smith’s flat, along the narrow passageway, there were always cardboard boxes, old newspapers, and even some worn-out clothes piled up. To Irene, these messy piles were an unpleasant sight, and she couldn’t help but label Mrs. Smith as a “disorganized troublemaker”. Every time she had to walk past Mrs. Smith’s door, she hurried by with her head down, holding her breath as if avoiding something unpleasant. One afternoon, as Irene was coming home from school, she spotted Mrs. Smith sorting through the piles in the passageway. Determined to slip past unnoticed, Irene quickened her pace, but a gentle voice stopped her. “Excuse me, little girl,” Mrs. Smith called out. Her tone was warm yet hesitant, “Do you have any old newspapers or unwanted clothes at home? I’d be grateful to take them.” Irene didn’t want to talk to the “messy neighbour”, so she pretended not to hear. She forced a tight, awkward smile as she rushed past. Her eyes were fixed on the floor to avoid eye contact. Behind her, she heard a soft sigh, and when she glanced back quickly, she saw Mrs. Smith standing there with a sad, disappointed look. Irene’s mother, who had been watching from their doorway, called her over with a serious expression, “Irene, I saw what happened. Why do you always avoid Mrs. Smith?” “She’s so messy!” Irene complained, crossing her arms. “Her place is always filled with junk!” “That ‘junk’ is how Mrs. Smith makes a living. Collecting and selling used paper and clothes is her only source of income. What’s more, she’s doing a good deed for the planet by recycling these things,” Irene’s mother said. Irene’s cheeks burned with guilt as her mother’s words sank in. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Mrs. Smith opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Irene’s cheeks burned with guilt as her mother’s words sank in. She thought about how she’d ignored Mrs. Smith’s gentle request, and how sad the old lady had looked. Without a word, she ran back to her room, searched through the closet, and gathered all the old newspapers and unused clothes she could find. She neatly stacked the newspapers, tied them with a string, and folded the clothes neatly into a bag. Taking a deep breath, she walked to Mrs. Smith’s door and knocked softly. When Mrs. Smith opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. Irene held out the stack of newspapers and the bag of clothes, with quiet but sincere voice, “Mrs. Smith, I’m sorry for ignoring you earlier. These are for you.” Mrs. Smith’s face lit up with a warm, grateful smile. She took the items carefully, patting Irene’s hand gently. “Thank you so much, dear. This means a lot to me.” Irene smiled. What was once dismissed as “junk” now turned into neighborhood understanding and kindness, melting prejudice away gently. 词汇激活 行为类 ①走向:walk to/head for ②收集:gather/collect ③忽视:ignore/overlook 情绪类 ①悲伤:sad/sorrowful ②真诚:sincere/genuine 【点睛】[高分句型1] She thought about how she’d ignored Mrs. Smith’s gentle request, and how sad the old lady had looked.(运用了how引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] Taking a deep breath, she walked to Mrs. Smith’s door and knocked softly.(运用了现在分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ ★开封前注意保密 2025—2026学年度第一学期期末教学质量监测 高中二年级英语 考试时间120分钟,满分120分 注意事项: 1. A Physical activity is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health. B I cannot remember a time when I did not want to go to Africa to study animals. Second, there is the hope that results of this research may help man in his search toward understanding himself. C It was conducted in their natural habitat. C While planes get you there faster, there’s just something extra special about traveling by train. But perhaps most importantly, the train line notes, “Your ticket also helps preserve this history for future generations as it is reinvested back into the railroad.” And there’s no better way to spend your travel dollars than that. 8. How does the author lead to the topic in the first paragraph? A. By telling a story. B. By presenting data. C. By making a comparison. D. By describing a phenomenon. 9. What aspect of the Strasburg Train is mainly talked about in the second paragraph? A. Scenic views. B. Themed services. C. Specific location. D. Historic background. 10. What does the underlined word “assorted” in the third paragraph mean? A. Various. B. Expensive. C. Special. D. Rough. 11. What do you contribute to the Strasburg Train by buying a ticket? A. Diversity of themes. B. Fund for protection. C. Increase in popularity. D. Improvement in efficiency. D We have a rapidly aging population, a decreasing birthrate and a care-giving workforce that is burning out. Although social isolation remains a real problem robots need not mean loneliness. Global Aging Crisis: Challenges and Traditional Solutions Encouraging a love for science from an early age sets the foundation for curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
