Life is always changing. Some changes can be good things, like joining a club or making a new friend. However, some changes could make you feel worried or uncertain(不确定的). All of these things can bring up some pretty big feelings and that’s OK.
Change can be hard to deal with because it often brings feelings of uncertainty. Emily Hanlon is a child psychologist (心理学家). She explains, “Our brains love daily plans and usual habits. They make us feel safe. When something changes, it can feel like going on a surprise trip without a map. This can make us feel nervous or worried because we don’t know what to expect.” Change can also be hard if you don’t feel quite ready for it or that you are not in control of whatever is happening.
Can change be a good thing? Yes, life will be pretty boring if everything stays the same all the time. Trying new things and making changes help you find out what you like and don’t like. For example, if you didn’t try that new kind of ice cream, how would you know you love it? They also help you to grow and learn skills. Hanlon says, “Although change can make you feel scared, it often leads to new trips, new friends, and confidence.”

Free time is a great chance for teenagers to have fun. But what about free time when parents are around? Some teenagers want to play freely without parents watching over them, while parents and experts might think differently.

Last summer, my son, Eric, left for university in another country. Our once lively house became quiet and lonely. I missed and worried about him so much that I started sending him messages on the phone, mainly to say hello or to give him a word of warning.

Free time is a great chance for teenagers to have fun. But what about free time when parents are around? Some teenagers want to play freely without parents watching over them, while parents and experts might think differently.
