One possible version:
An Unforgettable Coming-of-age Ceremony
Last week witnessed the successful Coming-of-age ceremony held by our school, which was intended to celebrate the important period which marks our journey in to adulthood.
The ceremony began with the headmaster’s uplifting speech on the responsibilities we would shoulder and some suggestions. Then, with parents’ company, we went through under the symbolic coming-of-age gate. It was a moving and sensational scene, where many students were not only tearful for their growing up but also thoughtful on their future.
The event turned out be a great success. Not only did it make we students realize the importance of embracing maturity and taking on the challenges that come with it but also a meaningful step towards a new chapter in our lives.

One Possible Version:
Paragraph 1:
On the day of my final exam, I again walked to the bus stop through heavy snow. For an hour, I stretched my neck, praying desperately that a bus would come. Then I gave up. The wind at my back pushed me toward home, and I prayed, “how can I get to school? What should I do?” As I pulled Grandma’s scarf more tightly around my neck, again I seemed to hear that whisper: Ask someone for a lift! It could be a mitzvah. That idea had never really made sense to me. And even if I wanted to ask someone for a good deed, which I did not, there wasn’t a soul on the street.
Paragraph 2:
As I pushed open the door of my apartment building, I found myself face to face with the woman from upstairs. She was going out with a set of keys in her hand. In that split second, desperation overcame pride. I blurted, “Could you possibly give me a lift?” I hurriedly explained, “I've been waiting for the bus for ages, and I don't want to miss my final exam.” Her expression softened with understanding, “Of course, I’ll give you a lift.” Heaving a sigh of relief, I couldn't help but marvel at how a simple act of asking for help had changed everything. It was at that moment that I finally understood what “Mitzvah” really meant.
根据第二段中“Then, about 90 minutes after you first fall asleep, you enter the fourth stage, which is REM sleep. This is a stage of lighter sleep where you do much of your dreaming.(然后,在你第一次入睡约90分钟后,你进入了第四阶段,即REM睡眠。这是一个睡眠较浅的阶段,你会做很多梦。)”可知,在REM睡眠阶段,人们会频繁做梦,且处于浅睡眠状态。故选C项。
【33题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“When you wake up in the morning on your own, it’s usually as you come to the end of whatever stage of sleep you were in. Think of it like getting off the train when it comes to a stop at the station. But when an alarm or someone else wakes you up, it’s like jumping off the train between stops, which can feel disturbing. That’s why it’s good to wake up naturally whenever possible.(当你早上自己醒来时,通常是在你睡眠的某个阶段结束时。想象一下,这就像火车在车站停下来时你下车一样。但是,当闹钟或其他人把你叫醒时,就像在两站之间跳下火车,这会让你感到不安。这就是为什么尽可能自然醒来是件好事。)”可知,作者在第四段中使用两个明喻是为了说明自然醒来和被突然叫醒之间的区别。故选D项。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“People can actually train their brains to wake up at a scheduled time each day that is a natural stopping point.(人们实际上可以训练他们的大脑在每天一个预定的时间,即一个自然的停止点醒来。)” 故选A项。
根据第一段“We’ve all experienced it: waking up naturally feels refreshing, while being suddenly woken by an alarm or someone else leaves us half-asleep. Why? To understand this, let’s explore the science of sleeping.(我们都有过这样的经历:自然醒来会让人感觉神清气爽,而突然被闹钟或别人叫醒则会让我们半睡半醒。为什么?为了理解这一点,让我们来探索睡眠的科学。)”可知,文章主要探讨了自然醒来和被突然叫醒感觉不同的原因,并解释了睡眠的科学原理。因此,A选项(为什么自然醒来感觉更好?)”最适合作为文章的标题。故选A项。
前文“A strong mindset allows people to stay focused, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals.(强大的心态使人们能够保持专注,克服障碍,实现目标。)”讲述了强大心态的好处,后文“Below are some strategies to help build mental strength.(以下是一些有助于增强精神力量的策略。)”
前文“Mentally strong individuals face them head-on rather than run away from challenges.(意志坚强的人会直面挑战,而不是逃避挑战。)”
前文“Instead, they recognize their feelings and take time to process them before making decisions.(相反,他们认识到自己的感受,并在做出决定之前花时间处理它们。)”
前文“Those with a mindset focused on self-improvement are more likely to push through difficulties. They view failures as learning opportunities rather than setbacks.(那些注重自我提升的人更有可能克服困难。他们认为失败是学习的机会,而不是挫折。)”讲述了那些注重自我提升的人将失败视为学习机会,空处应讲述这种态度带来的结果,A项“随着时间的推移,这种方法会带来更大的成就和个人成就感。”符合题意。故选A。
根据下文中的“While mindset is largely personal, the people around us also play a role in shaping our mental strength. Surrounding yourself with positive, motivated individuals can make a big difference.(虽然心态在很大程度上是个人的,但我们周围的人也在塑造我们的精神力量方面发挥着作用。
故填to reflect。
故填more impressive。
故填where。
prevent...from... 故填from。
由In recent years可知,句子时态用现在完成时,现代技术是被使用,因此空格处是现在完成时的被动语态,即have/has been done,主语technologies是复数,因此空格处是have been used。故填have been used。
故填a。

M: She is, but that’s pretty common over here. And she has got her babysitter’s certificate.
W: Wait. They have those?
M: Yeah, it’s for teens 11 to 15.

M: And so what happened?
W: After two years in the law school, I left without telling my father, and came to this city, New York.

M: Oh, yes, they are. And what do you paint on these stones?
W: I’m trying to paint a scene from the country which I haven’t been to. So I’ve done this stone, which has the Eiffel Tower on it…and this one of a Swiss mountain...and now I’m working on a picture of the Great Wall in China.
M: How detailed they are! It’s amazing you contain so much in such a tiny stone.

One of the most popular city walk routes in Shanghai is Fuxing Road in the downtown area of the city.
With sycamore trees giving shade from the sunlight, the street is home to many historic buildings of special
significance to China.Among them is the former residence of a legendary Chinese architect.
Zhuang Jun(1888-1990)was a groundbreaking Chinese architect known for his significant contributions
to the field of architecture in China.Born in Shanghai,Zhuang's architectural heritage continues to be
celebrated today, particularly through his former residence on Fuxing Road West in Xuhui district.Designed
by Zhuang himself and constructed in 1921,the three-story garden house shows his architectural talents with
unique features such as tooth-shaped red bricks and bright orange window glasses.Despite being a private
residence today, which is not open to the public, the house stands as a cultural relic preservation site, offering
a glimpse into the life and work of this legendary architect.
Zhuang's journey in architecture began with his studies in the United States at the University of Illinois,
where he became the first Chinese student of the academy with a scholarship from the government. After his
graduation in 1914,he returned to China. He played a key role in the development of architecture at Tsinghua
University.where he helped design the campus and managed the construction of various buildings, setting the
basis for modern construction science in China.Zhuang's influence extended beyond Tsinghua,as he inspired
many students to study architecture, becoming a driving force in shaping the future of the profession in
China.
Throughout his excellent career,Zhuang designed a number of landmark buildings across China,
including the Jincheng Bank building in Shanghai, which highlighted the artistic capabilities of Chinese
architects. His devotion to the field was further shown through his involvement in establishing the China
Architects'Association in 1927,where he served as the first president.Zhuang's architectural expert

Fast fashion has been sweeping the whole world for its accessibility and price. However, these
quick and easily accessible clothing brands aren't as safe as they appear. As fast fashion grows,so does
the environmental influence it leaves behind.Fast fashion brands search for the cheapest and fastest way
to keep up with the latest trends, and many clothing items require large amounts of cotton, nylon and
polyester ()These materials may appear safe to the eye,but they have a greater impact on the
environment than most people believe.
Cotton is the most profitable non-food crop in the world. The cotton industry makes up 7%of all
labor in developing countries.Cotton, however,is not very safe for the environment once it's
mass-produced for clothing.Cotton planting, the process of putting the leaves of the cotton plants under
the soil to grow new cotton, actually destroys the quality of the soil in which it is grown.Cotton
production usually includes the use of fertilizers and pesticides, which not only pollute the soil, but also
the water through polluted runoff.
Nylon,.unlike cotton,is a fully synthetic(合成的)material.It is the first fabric(布料)to be made
fully in a laboratory.ylon is not biodegradable(可自然降解的)and its production is an
energy-wasting process that creates unsafe gases and sends them into the atmosphere.
Polyester is made out of petroleum. This fabric is one of the world's most popular and cheapest
fabrics to make. Its whole production process sends unsafe gases into the air.Besides, once the polyester
clothing is made, washing it sends microfibers into the environment, specifically in waterways. So
polyester is considered one of the most perilous materials to the environment.
Despite various companies making clothing out of unsafe materials,it's up to you to put a stop to it.
Try shopping for more environmentally friendly materials. And when it's time to get rid of old clothes,
don't ihrow them away.Instead of having your clothes become landfill, sell them,or even donate them
to somebody else.
28.What can we learn from the first paragraph?
A.Fast fashion is popular because of its high quality
B.Fast fashion has a negative effect on the environment.
C.The materials of fast fashion brands are environmentally-friendly.
D.Despite the expensive price, the materials of fast fashion brands are safe
29.What can be inferred about cotton planting from the text?
A.A large quantity of water is wasted.
B.Harmful gases are sent into the air.
C.The soil environment is damaged.
D.Great profits are gained by farmers
30.What does the underlined word"perilous"in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Safe.
B.Important.
C.Useful.
D.Dangerous.
31.What does the author try to do in the last paragraph?
A.Call on people to take action.
B.Give a warning to the public.
C.Offer some shopping advice.
D.Raise some questions of fast fashion.
D
We've all experienced it:waking up naturally feels refreshing, while being suddenly woken by an
alarm or someone else leaves us half-asleep.Why?To understand this, let's explore the science of
sleeping.
The sleep cycle consists of four stages. One of these is REM,which stands for rapid eye
movements. The other three are non-REM stages. When you fall asleep, you first go into a state of
feeling sleepy called non-REM Stage 1.This is followed by deeper stages of sleep, called non-REM
stages 2 and 3.Each stage of non-REM is deeper than the orie before. Then, about 90 minutes after you
first fall asleep, you enter the fourth stage, which is REM sleep. This is a stage of lighter sleep where
you do much of your dreaming. After a few minutes, you return to non-REM sleep again.
In sleep labs, researchers monitor brain waves, eye movements, and muscle tension like in the chin,
using electrodes placed on the scalp, around the eyes, and on the chin.Brain activity varies from
low-amplitude(低频振幅),fast waves when awake to high-amplitude,slow waves during deep
non-REM sleep.Non-REM Stage 3 has the slowest, tallest waves, while REM sleep is similar to
wakefulness with low-amplitude,fast waves and rapid eye movements. Both stages are important for brain
health and memory storage.
When you wake up in the morning on your own,it's usually as you come to the end of whatever stage of
sleep you were in.Think of it like getting off the train when it comes to a stop at the station. But when an
alarm or someone else wakes you up,it's like jumping off the train between stops, which can teel disturbing
That's why it's good to wake up naturally whenever possible.
People can actually train their brains to wake up at a scheduled time each day that is a natural stopping
point.Brains have an internal 24-hour clock that instructs when you first start to feel sleepy and when you
wake up.This is related to our natural biological clock.
32.According to the passage, what happens during REM sleep?
A.The body enters the deepest stage of sleep.
B.Brain waves are high in amplitude and slow.
C.Frequent dreaming occurs during light sleep.
D.Muscle tension in the chin increases
significantly.
33.Why does the author use two similes in the fourth paragraph?
A.To suggest the methods for improving sleep quality.
B.To explain the role of non-REM in regulating sleep cycles.
C.To emphasize the importance of consistent sleep schedules.
D.To illustrate the difference between natural and sudden waking
34.What will the author most likely discuss next?
A.Methods for adjusting to natural morning awakenings
B.Advice on setting alarms to match natural stopping points.
C.The great impact of sleep cycles on memory storage.
D.New technologies for sleep stage monitoring in sleep labs.
35.Which of the following would be the most suitable title for the article?
A.Why Natural Awakenings Feel Better?
B.The Role of Dreams in Sleep Cycles.
C.How to Wake Up Early Without an Alarm?
D.The Impact of Biological Clock on Sleep Quality.

Everyone faces difficulties in life, but what separates those who succeed from those who struggl is their
mindset.A strong mindset allows people to stay focused, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goal
36
Below are some strategies to help build mental strength
Embrace Challenges Instead of Avoiding Them
Many people try to stay in their comfort zones to avoid failure, but this often limits personal growth.
Mentally strong individuals face them head-on rather than run away from challenges.
This not only builds confidence but also provides valuable experience for handling future difficulties.
Manage Your Emotions Effectively
It's natural to experience negative emotions, but how we deal with them matters.Mentally strong people
don't let emotions control their actions.Instead, they recognlze their feelings and take time to process them
before malung declslons.
38
By developing emotional awareness, individuals can stay calm
under pressure and respond to situations wisely.
Develop a Growth Mindset
Some people believe that intelligence and abilities are fixed, while others see them as things that can be
improved with effort. Those with a mindset focused on self-improvement are more likely to push through
difficulties. They view failures as learning opportunities rather than setbacks.39
40
While mindset is largely personal, the people around us also play a role in shaping our mental strength.
Surrounding yourself with positive, motivated individuals can make a big difference. This is why mentally
strong individuals don't surround themselves with negativity.Instead, they seek out mentors, supportive

Mitzvah
Mitzvah is a word my grandmother often said to me since my childhood. It's a Hebrew word
that means "to do a good deed".But according to my grandmother,it also had another meaning.
This was the one she was always pointing out to me because she'd noticed how shy I was about
letting people do things for me."Linda,it's a blessing to do a mitzvah for someone else, but
sometimes it's a blessing to let another person do something for you."I never really understood
what she meant until recently.
It was three months ago,and I'd just moved into an apartment for college in Brooklyn,New
York.Several of my friends had offered to help me settle in after the moving men left, but I'd said
I could manage.Letting them help did not fit my image of myself as a capab o"and independent
woman of 21.
As December arrived, getting to school became more difficult. One day, snowflakes had been
falling past my window for several hours when it came time to leave for class.I put on two sweaters,
a coat,a wool hat and boots, making for the bus stop.In this December storm it was a hard
journey. As I tied around my neck the blue scarf that Grandma had knitted()for me,I could
almost hear her voice:"Why don't you see if you can find a lift?"A thousand reasons came into my
mind:I don't know my neighbours;I feel funny asking for favours.Pride()would not let
me ask even though I came across three neighbours at the door of the apartment building. One of
them was the woman living upstairs, and in her hand there was an obvious car key.
Result? An hour of waiting in the bitter cold before the bus finally arrived, followed by
another half-hour journey.When I sneaked into the classroom,the class was almost over.If only I
had taken the chance and asked for help!It would haye been a 10-minute ride by car.Grandma
would be shaking her head at my stubbornness().
