For over a decade, 42-year-old Dradul has dedicated himself to protecting the wetland around this precious lake as an ecosystem guardian. Before becoming a guardian, he struggled with temporary jobs and hoped for a steady salary. Now, he earns a stable monthly income of 2,000 yuan and comes to feel a deep sense of purpose. “Protecting this lake makes me proud. It’s not just work — it’s about preserving it for future generations,” he said. Dradul’s workday begins early. He patrols (巡查) a fixed 10-kilometer route by motorcycle, with duties including observing the reserve, recording data, and addressing ecological threats. Last February, he and his team rescued a wing-broken eagle, sending it to a rescue center until it recovered. This July, they spent 20 minutes pulling a trapped wild out of a mudflat with ropes. Educating visitors is another core task. Dradul reminds tourists not to litter, drive on delicate grasslands, or leave waste. “In the past, the wetland was full of garbage and had fewer wild animals,” Dradul recalled. Today, the wetland is home to 411 plant species and 157 wildlife species — a remarkable level of biodiversity for such a high-altitude area. Yet, the work is far from easy. Climate change is a major threat: melting ice and shifting rainfall patterns cause shoreline changes and grassland degradation. Human activities also continue — some visitors still litter, bathe, or wash cars in the lake. With nearly 99,000 hectares (公顷) of wetland and only 90 guardians, remote areas can’t be patrolled daily. Despite these difficulties, Dradul remains hopeful. He dreams of Mapam Yumco Lake staying pure forever. “This responsibility, though built on small daily efforts, must be passed down. With sincerity and commitment, even the simplest actions can safeguard the lake’s beauty for generations,” he emphasized. 4. What’s the original purpose of Dradul to work as a guardian? A. To seek a sense of purpose. B. To help animals in need. C. To protect a precious wetland. D. To earn a stable income. 5. Which of the following can best describe Dradul’s job? A. Well-paid but influential. B. Challenging but worthwhile. C. Relaxing and effective. D. Flexible and professional. 6. What does the underlined word “degradation” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Improvement. B. Decline. C. Expansion. D. Coexistence. 7. What can we learn from Dradul? A. Every cloud has a silver lining. B. Actions speak louder than words. C. Small efforts make a big difference. D. Chance favors the prepared mind. C The American Psychological Association (APA) has issued its first guidance on teens’ social media use. What’s most surprising in its data-based recommendations is how little we know about how these apps influence our kids, which means little research is available about their long-term effects on teens’ brains. Getting better data will require a lot of money and much more openness from tech companies(公司). What little evidence we do have unsurprisingly suggests that social media operates on motivators(激励因素) that aren’t great for young brains. “Many kids start using social media at the worst possible time when it comes to brain development”, says Mitch Prinstein, a psychologist at the University of North Carolina. “Things like the ‘like’ button and artificial intelligence are going to influence young people’s brains in a way that’s very different from adult brains when it comes to the desire to stay online and to say or do almost anything to get followers.” When it comes to social interactions, he compares kids’ brains to a car with a huge gas pedal(油门) and weak brakes (刹车). Earlier this year, Prinstein and his UNC colleagues published the results of one of the first studies of how the teenage brain reacts to social media. The team surveyed a group of middle students to understand their social media habits, and then stuck them in an MRI machine to watch their brains as they reacted to social rewards or punishments. They found that 12-year-olds who habitually checked social media had different neural patterns(神经模式), with more activity over time in parts of the brain related to enthusiasm and concentration. The team didn’t weigh in on whether those differences were good or bad. But their work points to the need for more research. It should also remind parents of the need to be aware of social media’s hidden influence on still-developing brains. 8. What does the APA report point out about social media apps? A. The disadvantages of their motivators. B. The shortage of data on their influence. C. The dishonesty of social media. D. The influence of tech companies. 9. Which word can best describe young brains in relation to social interactions? A. Tense. B. Limited. C. Uncontrolled. D. Frightened. 10. What did Prinstein’s team find in their study? A. Kids were more self-centered. B. Social media brought about a positive effect. C. 12-year-old kids were more enthusiastic than others. D. Regular social media checking changed neural patterns. 11. What might be the best title for the text? A The Limitations on Teens. B. The Guidance on Teens’ Social Media Use. C. The Useful Recommendations of Social Media. D. The Hidden Impact of Social Media on Teens’ Brains. D Most people typically get between seven to nine hours of sleep each night. Now, studies show some lucky people have rare genetic mutations (基因突变) that enable them to feel well-rested after just four hours of sleep. Researchers have identified one of these mutations, called SIK3-N783Y, in a human super-sleeper. The team then studied the mutation in genetically modified mice and found that the mice carrying this mutation also got less sleep. Researchers tested the mutation by giving it to lab mice. They found that mice with the mutation slept around 31minutes less than those without it and 54 minutes less following a period of sleep deprivation Mice normally sleep for around 12 hours per day, which is significantly longer than humans. Therefore, this new mutation-linked sleep reduction of up to 54 minutes is less than observed in human subjects with naturally short sleep patterns. The researchers noted that this could be due to mice usually experiencing more fragmented (碎片化的) sleep than humans. There are a variety of negative effects associated with not getting enough sleep, from feeling tired and being more forgetful to an increased risk of heart problems. Study co-author Dr. Ying-Hui Fu suggests that the bodies of these natural short sleepers might simply be more efficient at the restorative processes that occur during sleep. “Our bodies continue to work when we go to bed, detoxifying themselves and repairing damage,” she said, “All these functions our bodies are doing while we are sleeping, these people can perform at a higher level.” For the rest of us who need our solid eight hours, understanding the genetics of naturally short sleepers could have important significance. Scientists hope that by investigating these genetic mechanisms, they can develop better treatments for the millions who struggle with sleep disorders. “These findings advance our understanding of the genetic basis of sleep and provide further support for potential therapeutic strategies to enhance sleep efficiency,” the team noted. 12. How do people with SIK3-N783Y differ from most people? A. They require much less sleep. B. They feel a bit more energetic. C They have better sleep quality. D. They fall into deep sleep faster. 13. What can we infer about SIK3-N783Y from the experiment on mice? A. It has the same effect on humans’ sleep as on mice’s. B. It makes mice’s sleep patterns as continuous as humans’. C. It reduces mice’s sleep more remarkably after sleep deprivation. D. It enables mice to-sleep 4 hours a day like human super-sleepers. 14. What does Dr. Ying-Hui Fu intend to state in paragraph 3? A. The outcomes of lacking enough sleep. B. The significance of having longer sleep. C. The challenges of being a super-sleeper. D. The reasons for short sleepers’ less sleep. 15. What do scientists hope to achieve with this research? A. Improve humans sleep efficiency. B. Explore solutions to sleep disorders. C. Adjust human sleep patterns scientifically. D. Analyze the impact of other genes on sleep. Finding motivation, especially study motivation, is not always easy. ___16___ Here are some ways of doing it. One day, Ben was playing basketball in the living room after school, when he accidentally threw the ball at a vase sitting on the shelf. The vase dropped to the floor, and a large piece broke off. What made Ben more upset was that the vase was not a common decoration but an antique (古董), which was handed down through generations from the 18th century. It was also his mother’s favourite possession. To cover his terrible action, the terrified boy glued the pieces together hastily and put the vase back in its place. As the mother herself dusted the vase every day, she naturally noticed the cracks (裂纹) that evening. To her surprise, the repair work was actually very good. At dinner time, she asked her boy if he had broken the vase. Fearing punishment, the suddenly inspired boy said that a neighbor’s cat jumped in from the window and he couldn’t drive it away, no matter how hard he tried. It raced around the living room and finally knocked the vase off its shelf. His mother was quite clear that her son was lying, for all the windows were closed before she left for work each morning and opened after she returned. However, in the face of her son’s nervous eyes and the suspicious looks of the other family members, Ben’s mother remained calm. She realized she shouldn’t just simply blame and punish her son for lying. She came up with another idea. Before going to bed the boy found a note from his mother in his room, asking him to go to the study at once. The boy thought he would now be punished, but, as he had already lied, he decided to deny everything, no matter how angry his mum became. In the study, calmly bathed in the light, his mother’s face showed no sign of anger. On seeing her son push open the door and cautiously enter, she took a chocolate box out of a drawer and gave him one. The mother said, “This chocolate is a reward for your imagination: a window-opening cat!” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now with some chocolates in hand, the boy’s bad attitude disappeared. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高二年级英语学科试卷 注意事项: 1. 1. Alongside a local nongovernmental organization, take part in activities that encourage children and teens to form healthy habits, like healthy eating, physical activities, and enough sleep.(在这个项目中,你应该评估圣地亚哥社区的卫生需求,并参与基于实地的公共卫生教育倡议。 根据Service in Young Cancer Patients Development部分的“Living with a host family, you’ll fully experience local traditions to better understand your service.(与寄宿家庭住在一起,你将充分体验当地的传统,更好地了解你的服务。)”和Advocating for Social Justice部分的“Your experiences in a homestay family will encourage you to be a participant of the change that matters for now and the future.(你在寄宿家庭的经历将鼓励你成为改变的参与者,这对现在和未来都很重要。)” B。 B At an altitude over 4,500 meters in Burang County, Ngari Prefecture, Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, lies Mapam Yumco Lake. D 5. B 6. B 7. 根据第二段中“Before becoming a guardian, he struggled with temporary jobs and hoped for a steady salary. Now, he earns a stable monthly income of 2,000 yuan and comes to feel a deep sense of purpose. He patrols (巡查) a fixed 10-kilometer route by motorcycle, with duties including observing the reserve, recording data, and addressing ecological threats. 、“Today, the wetland is home to 411 plant species and 157 wildlife species — a remarkable level of biodiversity for such a high-altitude area. 和第四段中“Yet, the work is far from easy. Climate change is a major threat 、“Human activities also continue — some visitors still litter, bathe, or wash cars in the lake. 根据最后一段中Dradul所说的话“This responsibility, though built on small daily efforts, must be passed down. With sincerity and commitment, even the simplest actions can safeguard the lake’s beauty for generations A. A. The Limitations on Teens. B. The Guidance on Teens’ Social Media Use. C. The Useful Recommendations of Social Media. D. The Hidden Impact of Social Media on Teens’ Brains. B 9. C 10. D 11. 根据第一段的“What’s most surprising in its data-based recommendations is how little we know about how these apps influence our kids, which means little research is available about their long-term effects on teens’ brains. Getting better data will require a lot of money and much more openness from tech companies.(在其基于数据的建议中,最令人惊讶的是我们对这些应用程序如何影响我们的孩子知之甚少,这意味着关于它们对青少年大脑的长期影响的研究很少。 根据第二段的“When it comes to social interactions, he compares kids’ brains to a car with a huge gas pedal and weak brakes.(说到社交互动,他把孩子们的大脑比作一辆油门踏板很大、刹车很弱的汽车)”可知,青少年的大脑在进行社交活动时就好像汽车有一个猛油门和弱刹车,即很容易失控。 根据第三段的“They found that 12-year-olds who habitually checked social media had different neural patterns, with more activity over time in parts of the brain related to enthusiasm and concentration.(他们发现,习惯查看社交媒体的12岁儿童有不同的神经模式,随着时间的推移,大脑中与热情和注意力相关的部分活动更多)”可知,该团队发现经常查看社交媒体改变了儿童的神经模式。 通读全文,根据第一段的“The American Psychological Association (APA) has issued its first guidance on teens’ social media use. What’s most surprising in its data-based recommendations is how little we know about how these apps influence our kids, which means little research is available about their long-term effects on teens’ brains. Getting better data will require a lot of money and much more openness from tech companies.(美国心理协会发布了第一份关于青少年社交媒体使用的指导意见。 D Most people typically get between seven to nine hours of sleep each night. C. They have better sleep quality. A 13. C 14. D 15. It took place in a teacher’s family. Before going to bed, the boy found a note from his mother in his room, asking him to go to the study at once. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The mother said, “This chocolate is a reward for your imagination: a window-opening cat!” Ben’s face turned red as he stared at the chocolate in his hand. His mother gently touched his head and continued, “You glued the vase carefully, which shows you truly cared about making things right.” She paused, her eyes warm and understanding. “But imagination should help us solve problems, not hide from them.” Ben bit his lip, realizing his mother had known the truth all along. Now with some chocolates in hand, the boy’s bad attitude disappeared. He took a deep breath and whispered, “Mom, I’m sorry. I broke the vase while playing basketball and lied to you.” His mother smiled softly, “I’m proud of you for telling the truth. Mistakes happen, but honesty is more precious than any antique.” She handed him another chocolate, “Let’s fix it together tomorrow, okay?” Ben nodded, holding the chocolate tightly, grateful for his mother’s wisdom and love. 2.续写线索: 母亲用巧克力回应谎言——指出问题所在——Ben态度转变并主动承认错误——母亲接纳并提议共同解决——Ben感受到了母亲的关爱与智慧 词汇激活 行为类 ①盯着:stare at/gaze at ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③发生:happen/occur ④修理:fix/repair 情感类 ①温柔的:gentle/tender ②温暖的:warm/affectionate ③感激的:grateful/thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1] His mother gently touched his head and continued, “You glued the vase carefully, which shows you truly cared about making things right.”(运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句,修饰You glued the vase carefully整个句子) [高分句型2] Ben bit his lip, realizing his mother had known the truth all along.(运用了现在分词短语作伴随状语,且其中包含省略了引导词that的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
