Period 2 Using language 过去完成时 (1)(教材P66)It was a young man who had left medical school without completing his degree. 这是一个从医学院辍学且没有拿到学位的年轻人。 (2)(教材P67)After Darwin had spent some time in South America, his room on the ship was crowded with samples of the plants and animals he had collected. 在南美洲度过一段时间后,达尔文的船舱里满是他收集的动植物样本。 (3)(教材P67)At that time, people believed that all species had appeared on Earth at the same time, and had not changed since. 那时,人们认为地球上的所有物种都是同时出现的,并且从此再无变化。 (4)(教材P67)It seemed their beaks had evolved according to what food was available on that particular island. 它们的喙似乎是根据所在的特定岛屿上可觅得的食物类型进化而来的。 (5)He said he had worked in that factory since 1949. 他说自1949年以来他一直在那个工厂工作。 (6)I had been at school for half an hour when Li Lei came. 李雷来的时候,我已经在学校半个小时了。 过去完成时的构成:had+过去分词;过去完成时表示在过去某一时刻或动作以前已经完成了的动作,即“过去的过去”,如句(1)(2)(3)(4);过去完成时可以指过去的动作延续到过去的某个时刻,如句(5)(6)。  1.构成:had+过去分词 2.用法: (1)表示在过去某一时刻或动作之前已经完成或结束的动作。句中常有by、by the end of等介词(短语)和by the time、before、when、until等引导的状语从句,也可以通过一个表示过去的动作或上下文来推断时态。 (2)表示一个动作或状态在过去某一时刻之前就已开始,一直持续到过去的这一时刻,而且到那时还未结束,仍有可能再持续下去。 (3)hope、mean、want、think、expect、plan、intend、suppose等动词的过去完成时可以用来表示过去未曾实现的想法、希望、打算或意图,意为“本来……(但事实上并没有……)”。 (4)常用过去完成时的固定句型: ①在no sooner...than...、hardly...when...句型中,主句用过去完成时,从句用一般过去时,意为“一……就……、刚……就……”。当no sooner或hardly位于句首时,句子要用部分倒装。 ②It was the first/second/...time+that...,从句用过去完成时,意为“这/那是第几次……”。 ③It was+一段时间+since 从句,从句用过去完成时,意为“自……发生以来已经多长时间了”。 ④主句+by the time+表示过去的从句,主句用过去完成时,意为“到……时,已经……”;by the end of+表示过去的时间,句子用过去完成时,意为“到……时,已经……”。 过去完成时与一般过去时的区别 过去 完成时 过去完成时强调“过去的过去”,即表示在过去某一时刻或某一动作之前完成的动作或存在的状态,是以过去某一时刻为基准的 一般 过去时 一般过去时以现在的时间为基准,表示在过去发生的动作或存在的状态,对现在没有影响 注意:当一个由after、before、as soon as等连词引导的从句所表示的动作和主句的动作紧接着发生时,两个动作均可用一般过去时来表示。 *We had breakfast after we did morning exercises. 做完早操后,我们吃早饭。 *The train started to move just before he reached the platform. 他到站台时火车刚要走。 单句语法填空/完成句子 (1)(2023·新高考全国卷Ⅰ) When I finally finished the essay, the thought of winning had given(give) way to the enjoyment of writing.
