Can you imagine going to school by boat or having classes in the wild? Around the world, students experience school in ways you’d never expect. Let’s read on!
Ways of getting to school
For many students, walking, biking and taking the school bus are the most common ways to get to school. However, in Venice, Italy, water buses make it easy for students to travel. On the Orkney Islands of Scotland, students may even fly to school when the local boat isn’t running.
Many schools are housed in buildings, but this is not always the case. Bangladesh, a country often hit by floods (洪水), has created boat schools so that children can go on learning after floods. In some parts of Kenya, students have classes under trees because of the shortage of classrooms.
Daily learning
In addition to mother languages and basic subjects like maths, science and art, students in some countries study special subjects. Different school hours
School hours are different in every country. Schools in South Korea start at around 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm. And students always have after-school classes. Every day, we eat, sleep, and work, but most people also want more free time for their hobbies and interests. Maybe they want to play more sports, learn a musical instrument, or even write a book, but they don’t have the time. It’s a problem for many but the answer is simple when your hobby is also your job!
Leyla Kazim is a good example of how to have a passion and make money from it. Leyla loves travel, photography, and food, so she writes a blog. “I spend most of my time either eating, travelling, or creating content about the two,” she says. Leyla’s blog has more than 100,000 followers and because the blog is so popular, she also works with food companies (公司) and restaurants.
Michael Gazaleh is another person with a hobby that’s also his job. He loves running in his free time and he also loves showing people his home city of New York. So his company City Running Trips, gives trips of cities to people who also like running. “Every day, we get to run with wonderful people from all over the world,” he says. Take learning English, for example. No one can learn everything about English quickly at one time. Different pieces of English need to be learned slowly over time. First, a student needs to learn about the sounds and letters of English. Then with these sounds and letters, the student can start to learn useful words for common things. Next, the student can learn to say short sentences using the words that he or she has learned. It may take a long time to learn about all the parts of these short sentences. After the student knows lots of short sentences well, he or she can learn about longer, more difficult sentences.
The idea of learning something new in small pieces, one step at a time, is useful for more than just learning English. So, the next time you are having trouble learning something, try to look at one small piece at a time. Learn each piece well before you try to learn another piece. Step by step, you will end up learning the whole thing!

Brian was a funny student. He loved watching comedies (喜剧) best and hoped to become a comedy actor one day.
When he heard about the talent show to be held at his school, Brian decided to take part in. He had never acted in a show before, and he was very excited. But some students laughed at him. “You are not funny but silly,” Ken, one of his classmates, said to his face. “No one will like what you do,” another boy also said to him, loudly.

Ways of getting to school
