Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class and review the grammar knowledge of the previous lesson.
Step 2 Work on A
1.Ask students to read the article about the “Go West” Programme silently.After reading,let them answer the questions:“What does the ‘Go West’ Programme ask college students to do?” “What do you think makes college students want to volunteer in the ‘Go West’ Programme?”
2.Invite students to share their answers and talk about their views on the “Go West” Programme.
Step 3 Work on B1
1.Play the recording of Judy’s talking about her volunteer project.Ask students to listen carefully and choose the correct answers to the questions.
2.Check the answers together.
Step 4 Work on B2
1.Play the recording of Judy and Simon’s conversation about her volunteer experience.Ask students to listen and complete Simon’s notes.
2.Play the recording again and check the answers.
Step 5 Work on B3
1.Guide students to complete Simon’s article with the information in B1 and B2.
2.Check the answers together and ask students to read the article aloud.
Step 6 Work on C
1.Ask students to read the conversation between Daniel and Millie.Explain the key points.
2.Divide students into pairs.Ask them to discuss how they can help people in their daily lives,using the model conversation between Daniel and Millie.
3.Invite some pairs to present their conversations.
Step 7 Work on D
1.Work on D1
Ask students to look at the table and find the key information for the letter.
2.Work on D2
Let students read the letter from the Students’ Union.Analyze the structure and useful expressions of the letter.
3.Work on D3
(1)Ask students to think of someone who needs help,make a plan like that in D1,and then write their own letter asking people to help,using the letter in D2 as a model.
(2)Invite some students to share their letters.
◇教学反思◇
本课时通过多样化的综合活动,有效锻炼了学生的听、说、读、写综合语言运用能力。学生对 “西部计划” 等志愿者项目有了更深入的了解,能够运用所学知识谈论日常志愿活动。但在写作呼吁信时,部分学生存在内容不够具体、语言缺乏感染力的问题,对信件结构的把握不够清晰。后续教学中应增加写作练习和修改反馈的机会,提升学生的写作能力。
