Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class and present two sentences on the screen:“I visited Beijing last year.” “I have visited Beijing three times.”
2.Ask students to observe the two sentences and discuss:“What’s the difference between the two sentences?When do we use these two verb forms?”
3.Summarize students’ answers and lead in the topic of this lesson:simple past tense and present perfect tense.
Step 2 Presentation
1.Explain the basic usage of the simple past tense:It is used to describe an action that happened and ended in the past,with definite past time adverbs.
2.Explain the basic usage of the present perfect tense:It is used to describe an action that started in the past and continues to the present;the result of an action;or the number of times an action has happened up to the present.
3.Present more example sentences from the reading materials,and let students analyze them.
Step 3 Practice
1.Work on A
(1)Ask students to complete the conversation between Simon and Millie with the correct forms of the words in brackets.
(2)Check the answers together.
2.Work on B
(1)Help students complete their sentences with the correct forms of the words in brackets.
(2)After completing,ask some students to read their answers aloud.Then check the answers together.
3.Work on C
(1)Complete the text about Mark’s father’s travel plan with the correct forms of the verbs in the box.
(2)Check the answers and explain the key points.
4.Work on D
(1)Ask students to write at least five sentences about one of their trips,using both the simple past tense and the present perfect tense.
(2)Invite some students to share their sentences with the class.Comment on their usage of the tenses.

本课时通过例句分析、讲解和大量练习,学生对一般过去时和现在完成时的用法有了更清晰的认识。在练习环节,学生能够较好地完成基础练习题,但在复杂语境中,部分学生仍会混淆两种时态的用法,尤其是对时间状语的搭配不够准确。后续教学中应增加针对性的语境练习。
