Step 2 Work on A 1.Ask students to read the article about Starlight Village silently.And guide them to answer two questions:“What changes have happened in Starlight Village?” and “Have you seen or heard about any changes in the countryside?Give one example.” 2.Check the answers together,and ask students to underline key sentences about changes in the article. Step 3 Work on B1 1.Present the table about Springfield Village and Riverside Village.Ask students to listen to a programme and fill in the table. 2.Play the recording twice.Check the answers. Step 4 Work on B2 1.Play the recording of a conversation between Sally and a farmer from Riverside Village for the first time.Let them listen carefully and mark sentences as T (true) or F (false) and correct the false one(s). 2.Play the recording twice,and then check the answers. Step 5 Work on B3 1.Present Millie’s report in B3,and let students complete it with information in B1 and B2. 2.Check the answers together.Invite a student to read the completed report aloud. Step 6 Work on C 1.Present the conversation between Millie and her dad in C.Ask students to read it and pay attention to how they talk about changes. 2.Organize students to work in pairs.Ask them to talk about a great change in their hometown using the conversation as a model. 3.Invite some pairs to share their conversations with the class.Provide positive feedback. Step 7 Work on D 1.Work on D1 Read a fact file about the changes in Sunshine Town in D1.Explain the words and phrases. 2.Work on D2 Guide students to analyze Millie’s article in D2.Find the structure and useful expressions. 3.Work on D3 (1)Ask students to first make a simple fact file about their hometown and write an article based on their fact file.
