Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class and review the story of the writer’s food memories,asking students to recall the sentences with linking verbs in the text.
2.Write these sentences on the blackboard and lead to the grammar focus.
Step 2 Work on Activity 5
1.Read the sentences from the reading passage aloud and ask students to observe the usage of the linking verbs carefully.
2.Guide students to summarise the grammar rules,such as the types of linking verbs,their common meanings when followed by adjectives,and the sentence structures they form.
3.Ask students to find more sentences with linking verbs in the reading passage and analyse their structures and meanings.
Step 3 Work on Activity 6
1.Present the words and expressions in disorder and ask students to put them in the correct order to form sentences with linking verbs,paying attention to the correct word order and grammar.
2.Walk around the classroom to check students’ sentences and provide immediate feedback and correction.
Step 4 Work on Activity 7
1.Ask students to read the notes about cooking scrambled eggs with tomatoes and circle the correct words to complete the cooking steps,focusing on the correct use of linking verbs in the context.
2.Check the answers and explain the reasons for each choice,emphasising the importance of understanding the context and the meaning of the linking verbs.
Step 5 Work on Activity 8
1.Pair the students and ask them to write a blog about their favourite food,using the words and expressions from the reading passage and the linking verbs they just learnt.They should describe the food’s appearance,taste,smell,and how it makes them feel.
2.Provide some guiding questions like “What is your favourite food?”“What does it look/taste/smell like?”“What do you need to cook it”to help finish their blog.
3.Invite several students to share their blogs with the class and give positive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
◇教学反思◇
学生对系动词的基本规则有了一定认识,但在实际运用中错误较多,尤其是在复杂语境或描述较复杂的食物特征时容易出错。在写作和造句环节,部分学生的语言表达不够流畅自然,对系动词的语义把握不够准确。今后教学中需增加有针对性的练习,设计多样化的语境让学生巩固语法知识,同时加强写作指导,如范文赏析和仿写练习,提升学生语言表达的准确性和流畅性。
