Have you ever doubted your abilities or believed that you don’t deserve your success? Then you may have impostor syndrome (冒充者综合征). Researchers from Germany have recently found that this syndrome can happen to people regardless of age, gender or intelligence.
27 Although it’s often called a “syndrome”, impostor syndrome is not an actual illness—it’s a negative way of thinking. People who have experienced impostor syndrome might have thoughts like “I’m a failure” or “I have to work harder than everyone else”. 28 They believe any of their success is because of luck rather than their skills or hard work. Impostor syndrome influences many people around the world, from teens to adults. It might surprise you that many successful people experience this as well.
29 It’s important to remember that this feeling is very normal. One tip is to stop comparing yourself to others. Quite often, you don’t see the full picture of another person’s success. British physicist Anthony Leggett, who won a Nobel Prize in 2003, said: “I missed out on standard high school physics, so I have always been a bit confused about simple things like why the noise from a kettle stops as the water nears boiling.” It’s always difficult for me to understand simple things like why the noise from a kettle stops as the matter nears boiling,
30 Next time you doubt your abilities, remember that it’s perfectly normal and you can work to overcome those feelings.
根据短文内容,从选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项,选项中有一项为多余选项。
A.How can impostor syndrome be overcome?
B.It’s impossible for everyone to be good at everything.
C.What is impostor syndrome?
D.Don’t doubt yourself!
E.They might also feel that their achievements don’t deserve any praise.
F.If you try hard, you can be good at everything.

Warmth in my life
As we know, we may feel warm anytime and anywhere.
It was a rainy day. I failed an exam, and I was very upset. What’s worse, I didn’t bring an umbrella. On my way home countless rainrops beat against my body, which seemed that they were laughing at me. My clothes were wet and I felt cold.
Suddenly, the raindrops disappeared. At first, I thought the rain finally stopped. But when I looked up, I saw a big umbrella and the smiling face of my deskmate, Mike. He looked into my eyes sincerely and said, “An exam can’t stand for everything. I believe you can get good grades next time.” His words really moved me and I felt warm in my heart.
For me, nothing is more valuable than the warmth he has given and I’ll keep it in my mind forever.
