Losing her sight, she had searched through darkness for those invisible wings and found them. In high school, Lila’s eyesight was getting worse little by little because of her illness. It was during this tough time that she came across the translation of Yu Hua’s novel To Live. She was deeply moved by the heart of the novel — that survival itself, no matter how lonely and painful, means never giving up. Thus she was inspired to study in the Chinese Language Department at a university in Sudan. Eager to further explore the language and culture behind the stories that touched her, Lila decided to study in China as an exchange student. Between 2019 and 2024, she spent a total of two years studying in Xi’an. While she needed help finding her way around the campus, she managed all the cooking and laundry in her dorm independently. “It’s not always easy but in doing so, I learned self-acceptance,” she recalled. Since Lila returned to Sudan in July 2024, she has been giving online Chinese lessons to college students in Sudan. “Thanks to modern technology, I can prepare all the lessons on my own,” she added, “my dream is to work as a Chinese-Arabic interpreter and share my story with a wider audience.” While studying in China, Lila experienced her second “reading” of To Live — this time through listening. “Thinking about the main character’s difficulties made me reflect on how I should really live my own life,” she said. 1. What inspired Lila to learn Chinese? A. A well-known Chinese song. B. A course about Chinese culture. C. A desire to be a Chinese teacher. D. A translation of a Chinese novel. 2. What can we know from Lila’s exchange experience? A. She learned to be independent. B. She was too shy to ask for help. C. She found it easy to do laundry. D. She enjoyed exploring the campus. 3. Where is this text probably taken from? A. A personal diary. B. A newspaper column. C. A scientific report. D. A course guidebook. B At the University of Rochester, there is a popular club, called French Toast. Its name comes from the idea of a toast, a gesture of friendship between people. The logo is a slice of toast in a suit called “Frenchie”. The club seeks to introduce the language and cultures of French-speaking countries and students don’t need to know French to join! “I don’t expect people to come in and know French at all,” said Kevin Johnson, a third-year student and club president. “If I set up a barrier like that, fewer people would come. Just show up and have fun!” Katy, the club’s PR leader, had no French experience before joining but has picked up the language through club activities. “It’s amazing that I’m so involved now,” Katy noted. Food plays a key role in the club. Most meetings are held in the community kitchens, as members believe food is the best way to bring people together. Last spring, they hosted a French-style café event. Club members took on roles like waiters and guests. Waiters offered hot chocolate and other snacks, and prepared Post-its or printed cards with simple French phrases for ordering. Guests came and ordered in French. “This helped everyone communicate in French,” said Katy, who worked as a waiter at the event. Another regular event of the club teams up with the Center for Education Abroad, during which members take a VR tour of the French-speaking world and learn about study-abroad programs in French-speaking countries. Next semester, they’ll have their second French Culture Festival. With a larger budget, they hope to make it big! 4. What does the French Toast club aim to? A. Prepare students to study in France. B. Provide professional French courses. C Raise money for community activities. D. Share cultures of French-speaking regions. 5. What did guests do at the French-style cafe event? A They ordered in French. B. They offered hot chocolate. C. They taught waiters French. D. They made Post-its and cards. 6. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A. Campus Café: French Snack Fun B. Campus Events: Formal French Talks C. French Toast: A Taste of French Culture D. French Toast: A Path to Studying in France C Exercise is like medicine for the heart, and just like taking medicine, you need the right amount for it to be effective. But a recent study suggests that it might not be the same for everyone. Researchers found that men need more exercise than women to achieve the same reduction in their risk of heart disease. A research team studied over 85,000 adults aged 37 to 73 in the UK. Each participant wore a device to measure their body movements and activity levels for seven days. Then the researchers tracked the participants’ health outcomes for about eight years. The results showed that women who did 4 hours of active exercise per week had around a 30% lower risk of heart disease. Men, however, needed about 8 hours of the same kind of activity to see a similar reduction. There are clear biological reasons that can partly help explain these differences. The main reason is that women naturally have a higher level of a certain hormone (荷尔蒙), a chemical which helps the body burn more fat for energy during long exercise periods and keeps blood vessels (血管) healthy. Besides, women tend to have more efficient muscle fibers. So they are good at steady and sustained activities without feeling tired easily, like jogging and cycling. While the study used accurate, device-based data, it still has limits. Activities were only tracked for one week, and the volunteers were from a group that are in better health condition than the average population. Still, these results highlight an important point: current exercise guidelines, which are the same for men and women, might need to be reconsidered. Both men and women clearly benefit from regular physical activities. That’s not in question. Men just need a few extra minutes each week to get the same heart protection as women. 7. How much weekly exercise do men need for equal heart benefits? A. Slightly less than women’s. B. Almost the same as women’s. C. Nearly 30% more than women’s. D. About twice as much as women’s. 8. Which is the key biological factor helping women in exercise? A. Longer muscle fibers. B. More certain chemical. C. Stronger blood vessels. D. Quicker fat-burning system. 9. What does the underlined word “sustained” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Long-lasting. B. High-speed. C. Competitive. D. Exciting. 10. What does the last paragraph imply? A. The study has an unreliable database. B. The tracking period of the study is sufficient. C. Current exercise guidelines may be improper. D. Women benefit more from exercise than men. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Art class in high school often gets written off as a fun break, not serious like math or science. But anyone who’s lost himself in painting or designing a poster knows better: art is far from a time-killer. ____11____ Art trains you to notice everything. When you’re drawing a park bench, you don’t just draw wood. You observe sunlight on its edges, or small marks left by rain. ____12____ Later, when you analyze a poem or spot lab details, you use that same artist’s eye — the ability to see what others miss. Art teaches you to adapt to the unexpected. Imagine you start a watercolor painting of a bright sunset, but suddenly the colors spread into a soft gray sky. ____13____ Often, that so-called “failure” becomes the most interesting part of your artwork. This is exactly the skill that helps when a test doesn’t go as planned. You adapt rather than give up. Art enables you to work with people in practical ways. Have you ever done wall painting with your classmates? You can’t paint whatever you want. ____14____ Similarly, playing in the school band, you can’t turn up your violin too loud. You have to fit in with the other instruments. That’s real-world teamwork, a lesson no worksheet can truly teach. ____15____ But art isn’t getting in the way of learning. It’s the kind of learning that lasts, teaching you to observe, adapt, and work with others — skills that truly matter long after school. A. That close observation stays with you. B. It shapes how you see the world and who you are. C. Some may argue, “No time for art — focus on tests!” D. You listen to others’ ideas and work out a common view. E. These small details make your drawing look more realistic. F. Instead of seeing this as a failure, you learn to work with it. G. It makes you more creative in subjects like math and science. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节;满分37.5分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1.5分,满分22.5分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Shen Huazhang has fished off eastern China’s coast for over twenty years. She had a big dream: owning a brand-new bike with shiny silver handlebars and a bell that went “ding-ding”, but her pocket money was never enough. So on a Saturday morning, she decided to do something. Emily took out her grandpa’s old small cart, loading it with a wooden table, fresh lemons, a sugar jar, and all the other stuff she needed. Then she wheeled it all the way to Willow Park, a busy green spot with thick trees, a winding path, and a pavilion (凉亭) at its center. Families often picnicked here, and hikers passed through on their way to the hills, making it perfect for her plan. Setting up the table by the path, she pressed lemons and mixed in sugar until the lemonade (柠檬水) tasted just sweet. She taped a hand-drawn sign on the table: “Emily’s Fresh Lemonade — 2 Dollars a Cup!” As she was busy arranging the cups and lemons, her friends came over to help. Sam, who was super patient, offered to greet customers. Lily, a girl good at drawing, added bright sunflowers and rainbows to the sign to make it stand out. Carlos, the funniest kid in her class, even did a little “lemonade dance” to draw people over. Within an hour, business boomed: families grabbed cups while picnicking, hikers stopped by for a drink, and kids ran over with pocket money. But at noon, the sky darkened. A sudden strong wind swept the park, knocking cups over grass and blowing the sign into bushes. As Emily hurried to pick things up, big raindrops fell. Staring at the messy spot, her eyes were filled with tears. The bike she’d dreamed of seemed farther away than ever. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just then, Carlos shouted, “Hurry, let’s move inside the park pavilion!” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Two hours later, the last drop of lemonade was sold. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2025—2026学年度第一学期教学质量自查 高二英语 (本试卷共10页,满分150分。 Just then, Carlos shouted, “Hurry, let’s move inside the park pavilion!” Emily and her friends quickly picked up the remaining cups and lemonade, rushing to the pavilion which was dry and safe. They set up the table again, and Sam called out to passers-by who were taking shelter from the rain. To their surprise, many people came to buy lemonade because they wanted to help the kind kids. Two hours later, the last drop of lemonade was sold. Emily counted the money carefully, and she found that it was exactly enough for the bike she had dreamed of. She hugged her friends tightly, saying that she couldn’t make it without their help. All of them smiled happily, knowing that hard work and friendship would always bring good results. What Emily learned was that when life gives you lemons, you can make lemonade and turn challenges into opportunities. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
