Have you ever had a big dream? Did others think it was impossible? What did you do then? A 15-year-old boy set a good example for us.
The boy named Li Banghua, from Hefei in East China’s Anhui Province, designed and built a drone (无人机) completely by himself. The drone is 0.6 meters wide, has a wingspan (翼展) of 4.4 meters and weighs about 40 kilograms. He started this right after his high-school entrance exams (中考) , and worked on it during the whole summer holiday.
The young boy has loved airplanes since he was a child. “I have studied and built drones for years,” Li said. “but this time the drone is the largest I have ever built and it is also my most successful one.”
However, the journey of making drones was not smooth. Perhaps his biggest challenge wasn’t technical—it was getting people to believe in him. “Many adults just didn’t understand my dream,” Li explained. “They thought I was wasting my time. Because of this, I even had to pretend (假装) to be an adult online to buy materials (材料).”
The building process (过程) was difficult. “I failed seven or eight times,” he said. “I felt very frustrated. But I never thought about giving up. When you start something important, you should finish it.”
6. How does the writer begin the story?
A. By talking about a dream that is hard to achieve. B. By showing the size and weight of the drone.
C. By telling us who the boy is and where he is from. D. By asking the readers some questions first.
7. Which one is TRUE about the drone Li built?
A. It is 0.6 meters long with a 4.4 meters wingspan. B. It weighs about 40 kilograms and is 0.6 meters wide.
C. It took over one year to build this large drone. D. He built it with his teacher’s help after exams.
8. What does the underlined word “smooth” mean?
A. Without problems or difficulties. B. Quick and fast in progress.
C. Safe and free from danger. D. Happy and full of enjoyment.
9. What was the biggest difficulty about his project?
A. He couldn’t find good materials to build the drone.
B. Building problems were too hard for him to solve.
C. Many adults didn’t understand or support his dream.
D. His parents refused to give him money for materials.
10. What can we learn from his story?
A. Starting young makes success easy. B. Family’s support helps achieve dreams.
C. Keep trying and you will succeed. D. Working alone makes projects better.

Every afternoon, Bella walked home from the bus stop. She enjoyed these walks and got to know her neighbors. Kind Mr. Sharaf once gave her a rose. A boy named Ari always drew chalk animals, and sometimes Bella drew with him. But Bella always looked forward most to seeing Mrs. Rodan. The cheerful neighbor would often be outside, ready with a warm smile and a chat. She usually had her little son Finn, with her. Bella liked playing peekaboo (躲猫猫) with Finn, but she especially enjoyed the friendly talks with Mrs. Rodan.
Then, one week, everything changed. For three days in a row, the Rodans’ house was quiet, and no one was outside. A worried feeling grew in Bella’s heart—something wasn’t right.
“Can we go and check on them?” she asked her mom with concern (关心).
The next day, they walked to the Rodans’ house and rang the doorbell. Mrs. Rodan opened the door, looking quite tired. A white bandage was wrapped around her ankle (脚踝) , and she was holding a fussy (哭闹的) Finn, whose face was red.
“I fell and sprained my ankle, and then Finn caught a bad cold,” she explained with a tired sigh. “With my husband away in the army (军队), it’s been quite hard to manage everything alone.”
Bella’s mom replied warmly, “Please, let us help you.” They came next day with groceries (日用品和食物) and to help look after Finn. As they were leaving, Mrs. Rodan gently took Bella’s hand. “Thank you for noticing we were gone and for caring about us,” she said. “You are a true friend.”
In that moment, Bella understood deeply that being a good neighbor meant more than just a friendly wave—it meant watching over one another with kindness and ready help.
11. Who is Bella’s favourite neighbour?
A. Mr. Sharaf. B. Ari. C. Mrs. Rodan. D. Finn.
12. Why did Bella decide to check on the Rodans?
A. Because she didn’t see the Rodans for days. B. Because she wanted to play peekaboo with Finn.
C. Because she sprained her ankle when she ran. D. Because she needed to talk with Mrs. Rodan.
13. What was Mrs. Rodan’s problem?
A. She missed her husband very much. B. She got hurt and her son was ill.

People who use wheelchairs (轮椅) find it hard to go up stairs. But a new invention may change that. A group of scientists from South Korea invented a special wheel: It can change its shape to move over barriers (障碍).
The wheel has three main parts: a sensor (传感器), an outer chain, and some wires (金属丝) inside. The wires go through the middle of the wheel. When the sensor sees something in the way, it makes the wires soft. Then the wheel can change shape and move over the thing. It can climb over things up to 1.3 times taller than half the wheel’s width (宽度). After that, it can become hard again to move fast on flat ground.
The scientists tested the wheel carefully. First, they tested how it climbs stairs. They put the wheel on a wheelchair with a model person inside. The wheelchair climbed 18cm stairs—a common height in buildings. The test was successful every time, proving that the invention worked well.
They also tested the speed of wheels on flat (平坦的) ground. These wheels can go as fast as 30 km per hour, which is already faster than many electric wheelchairs. The scientists want to make them even faster. Their hope is to reach about 100 km per hour in the future. That speed is as fast as cars on the highway, which would allow users to travel much quicker between places. To reach this goal, they are working on making the wheels stronger and the motor (马达) more powerful.
The team thinks this technology will be useful for more than just wheelchairs. In the future, these smart wheels could help in other ways too. For example, a delivery robot with such wheels could climb stairs to bring food right to your door. The wheels could also be put on robots that walk on two or four legs, helping them move better in work places.
16. What’s special about the new wheel?
A. It’s made for wheelchairs. B. It can go up stairs easily.
C. It’s invented by scientists. D. It has some wires inside.
17. Which shows the correct order of how the wheel works?
①The wheel changes shape and moves over the thing.
②The sensor sees something in the way.
③The wires inside become soft.
④The wheel becomes hard again on flat ground.
A. ②→③→①→④ B. ③→①→②→④
C. ①→③→④→② D. ②→④→①→③
18. Why do scientists want to make the wheels stronger and the motor more powerful?
A. To let wheelchairs climb stairs higher than 18cm.
B. To reach the future speed goal of 100 km per hour.
C. To help the sensor find things in the way faster.
D. To make the wheelchair lighter and easier to move.
19. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. Delivery robots can climb stairs to bring food.
B. Two-legged robots need better wheels to move.
C. The smart wheel has more uses than just wheelchairs.
D. The new inventions are only for robots in workplaces.
20. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. A Wheel That Changes Shape to Climb B. Testing a New Wheel in South Korea
C. Robots and Their Future Wheels D. The Problem of Stairs for Wheelchairs

Once a little weed (杂草) grew in a field. There were many tall and beautiful flowers around it. Lots of bees and butterflies came to them because of their nice smells and bright colors. The little weed wasn’t satisfied, because its flowers were tiny and simple.
One spring morning, three children came to play in the field. “Let’s pick some flowers for our grandma!” said one. “That’s a good idea!” said another. “She will love all these bright and beautiful flowers!”
“What about that one?” the youngest child said, pointing at the little weed. “Forget it!” laughed the oldest brother. “That’s just a useless weed!”
Hearing this the little weed felt even worse. “Am I really useless?” it asked itself, “Why was I put on the Earth?”
In winter, all flowers were gone, only the little weed stood alone in the field. Just at that time, it noticed some birds coming above the field. “We are hungry!” they shouted. The little weed felt sorry for the poor birds and called out to them, “Hey! Down here! I have pods (豆荚) that you can eat!”
“You’re so kind!” The birds ate up the seeds in the pods thankfully. “They’re delicious. We can’t find anything better than what you gave us!”
This made the little weed happy and confident. “At last, I have found out what I am good for!” the little weed said.

Katie’s teacher, Miss Vile, was very strict and always said, “Rules are rules.” When students did not follow the rules, she made them stay after school. One day, even Isis, a perfect student, had to stay late just because she went to the doctor. Katie thought this was too much. Katie, who was a little witch (女巫), had an idea. She wondered, “What if we didn’t have so many strict rules? Maybe everyone would behave better.” She decided to use a little magic. On Monday, the head teacher made a shocking announcement (通知): _________
At first, everyone was excited about the announcement. Students used their phones in class and chewed gum (嚼口香糖). Charlie even brought his dog to school. But soon, problems started. Classes became noisy and hard to follow. A science experiment caused a small explosion (爆炸). A boy even climbed a tree and got hurt. The school walls were covered in graffiti (涂鸦).
Soon, students had different opinions. Some, like Danny and Samantha, loved the new freedom. Others, like Isis and Rishi missed the old school rules and just wanted to learn properly. The Student Union held a meeting to discuss the problem. “Should we have rules or not?” Katie asked. They decided to hold a secret vote (投票).
On Monday, the result was announced: most students had voted to bring the rules back. When the rules returned, Miss Vile looked very pleased. The experiment showed that while some rules might seem strict, they are necessary to keep the school safe, orderly, and a good place for everyone to learn.

例文:
Good morning, everyone. In this digital age, making friends online has become common. However, it also brings challenges.
Some problems and risks exist. We may trust strangers easily, which can lead to trouble like being cheated and hurt. We might also give away personal information, putting ourselves in real and serious danger. Moreover, getting too lost in the online world can make us ignore real-life relationships completely.
To protect ourselves, we should never share private details like addresses or phone numbers. Also, we need to be cautious and not believe everything strangers say. Let’s enjoy online friendship while staying safe!
Let’s use the internet in a smart way. Let’s build friendships full of joy and safety. Thank you.
