T: Today, we’re going to learn about a very special animal – the elephant, which is the national animal of Thailand. We'll explore their role in Thai culture and discuss how we can protect them.
Step 2: Pre-reading (1a) (5 minutes)
1. Discussion & Prediction
T: Have you ever seen an elephant, in real life or in media? What do you know about them? Discuss with your partner for one minute.
2. Share Ideas & Predict
T: (After discussion) Who would like to share? (Calls on 1-2 students). Now, look at the three possible titles (A, B, C) for Malee's post. In your group, predict what the post might be about based on these titles.
Step 3: While-reading I (1b) (7 minutes)
1. Read for Gist & Choose Title
T: Now, read Malee’s post quickly and silently. Choose the best title. Then, in your group, discuss why you chose it.

2. Vocabulary in Context
T: Let's look at some key words and expressions from the post. I'll explain them with examples:

Step 4: While-reading II (1c) (8 minutes)
1. Read for Details
T: Now, read the post again more carefully. Answer the questions in 1c individually first. Then, check and discuss your answers with your partner.

• What is it like? (Personality)
• Why do you like it so much?
2. Pair Work & Drafting
T: First, brainstorm ideas with your partner for 2 minutes. Then, start writing your draft. You can use sentences from Malee's post as a model.
3. Sharing & Feedback
T: (With time remaining) Would anyone like to read their post aloud? Let's listen and give one positive comment about their description.
Step 8: Summary & Extension (2 minutes)
T: Today, we learned about the amazing elephant and why it needs our protection. We also practiced describing animals. Remember, understanding and respecting animals is the first step to protecting them. Your homework will let you explore this further.
Step 9: Homework (1 minute)
1. Essential: Finish and polish your animal post. Write it neatly on a piece of paper to hand in.
2. Extended (Optional): Find out about one other endangered animal. Write 2-3 sentences about what people are doing to help it.
