My brother and I had been counting down the days to a live performance by a singer we both liked. When that night finally arrived, it was far more amazing than I had expected !
It was a warm summer evening at an open-air theatre in Middleburg, Virginia. The sky was painted in deep orange by the setting sun and I could feel the crowd's excitement in the air. Then the first musical note rang out. At that moment, everything changed. It wasn't just music anymore— it was something bigger. You could feel it in the way the crowd moved like one huge wave. Around me, a 14-year-old girl, strangers danced freely and laughed together. I' ve never had a feeling of connection between me and strangers. An older man, probably in his fifties, danced as hard as the college students around him. That moment stayed with me. Like rivers flowing into the sea, we are one. It seemed that a new world lied in front of me.
Another unforgettable experience happened when I was 18. I got a summer job at a restaurant. At first, I kept messing up customers' orders and couldn't remember table numbers.
No matter how hard-working I was, I was a wrong person in the manager's eyes. That made me quite sad.
But something changed over time. My workmate Maria taught me tricks to remember difficult orders and Joey showed me how to deal with impolite customers. Even normal customers started talking to me, asking about my college plans and offering me advice. Every mistake became a lesson, and gradually, I improved.
Then, something surprising happened. My manager was fired and I was made the manager. I couldn't believe it! Months earlier, I could hardly carry three plates without dropping one. Now I was trusted with a leadership role.
These two experiences have changed how I see the world. That night has taught me that connection can happen anywhere. Although we are different, we all truly want the same things:joy and belonging. My summer at that restaurant has taught me that real growth happens through challenges, and that staying hopeful can turn hard situations into chances.

Scientists have discovered the world's largest known field of seagrass with the help of some unusual helpers—— tiger sharks.
Seagrass usually grows in shallow waters(浅水域). It grows in thick fields, known as meadows(草地). These seagrass meadows help clean the ocean's water, and provide a safe place for many sea lives. They are also a big help in the fight against climate change. That's because they store a huge number of carbon oxide (二氧化碳). This harmful pollution is making the earth warming worse. Breaking these seagrass meadows will only further release this pollution back into the air.
Though they' re very important, scientists don't have a good idea of the size and number of the world's seagrass meadows. Trying to find these meadows from above the sea waters can be quite difficult. The world's oceans are so large in size that it's simply impossible to make a deep study of them by diving(潜水). So a team of scientists decided to have tiger sharks help with the research. These animals were chosen as research helpers because they spend a lot of their time ir and around seagrass meadows.
Researchers placed cameras on the fins(鳍) of seven tiger sharks. The sharks then carried the cameras and traveled for kilometers over the sea floor. The cameras were designed to fall of after a few hours and then go back up to the surface. Tracking signals(追踪信号) helped the scientists find the cameras on the sea and collect the videos the sharks had taken.
The scientists learned that the waters around the Bahamasare are home to the largest seagrass meadow ever discovered, which could be as large as 92,000 square kilometers. The discovery means that the world has about 40 percent more seagrass meadows than scientists had thought.
All in all, the project shows a powerful new way to research the ocean. In other words underwater animals can help us learn more about life under the sea. Animals like tiger sharks are going to take us to new places that we didn't even know.
