①Recently, I asked a friend who had just walked in the woods what she noticed. “Nothing special,” she replied.
②How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of notice? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
③On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauty of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
④On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man's progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through art. In the evening, I should spend the night on the movies.
⑤The following day, I should see the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight, the permanent night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
⑥I who am blind give one suggestion to those who can see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again... But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

When you feel a sneeze or cough coming, covering your mouth prevents the spread of germs. You have probably known that.
But how to cover your mouth is very important. You might use tissues(纸巾), and put your used tissues into the bin. “If you don't have tissues, you should sneeze into your elbow, not your hand, even if you are used to doing that,” the doctors advised.
“If somebody sneezes into his hands, those germs will be passed on to other people, or other objects that people touch,” said Dr Hill.
Germs are most commonly spread by sneezing and coughing. When they land on your hands, they are passed from hands to things like bills, door knobs (把手), lift buttons and other surfaces. At the same time, the people around you can touch them.
“The suggestion was taken seriously about 10 years ago. However, most people didn't pay much attention to it. That means the adults may have missed the advice. But children are often taught in school the right way to cough or sneeze,” Dr Benjamin said.
To be clear, people can't keep away from all the risks in this way, but it's the best choice. At the same time, we'd better wear masks and often wash our hands. “Hand washing is one of the most important things people can do to keep healthy,” Dr Hill said. DBBB

①If your arm or leg hurts, you see a doctor. But if your mind is where the pain is, what do you do? Mental health problems are actually very common, affecting about 13 percent of the people aged between 10 and 19 around the world. World Mental Health Day is a day to remind people to care about mental health problems more.
②School life isn't always easy. Exams are stressful, lessons can be hard and it's also difficult to make good friends sometimes. If you don't feel good at school, your diet can change how you feel. You should eat enough vegetables and fruit to make you feel well. Drink enough water too. Water makes you full of energy.
③Besides, it's healthy to spend time with others. Find people who make you feel safe and comfortable and spend time with them. If you feel lonely, try volunteering. It's a good way of meeting new people, and you'll feel good about helping others. One survey showed that 48 percent of people said they felt less unhappy after volunteering for more than two years.
④Most people know that exercise is good for their body, but do you know it's good for your mental health too? Exercise can also help reduce stress and unhappiness. Why not exercise by going for a walk in the park or countryside?
⑤So, on World Mental Health Day, you can do something that really makes you happy, such as having your favourite food or chatting with your best friend. Take some time to ask yourself: How do I feel right now? Is everything OK? How can I look after myself better? By doing so, you will know better about the importance of mental health. CDBA

Jessie's mother told her children, “So many people helped us. We must never forget what they did for us.”

Body composition(成分) refers to the amounts of fat, muscle, bone and so on in your body. Keeping a healthy balance is important—too much fat can be harmful, while muscle helps make you stronger.
1. Follow a Nutritious Diet
A balanced diet plays a vital role in improving body composition. Eat plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins such as chicken, fish, eggs, and beans. Avoid processed foods, such as sugary snacks, and excessive unhealthy fats. Protein is especially important because it helps repair and build muscles.

Regular physical activity is essential for burning fat and increasing muscle. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise(like brisk walking, swimming, or cycling) per week. Additionally, include strength training exercises (such as weightlifting, push-ups, or squats) at least twice a week to enhance muscle growth.
3. Prioritize Sleep and Reduce Stress
Getting enough sleep is necessary for maintaining a healthy weight. Teenagers should sleep 8—10 hours each night to support growth and recovery. High stress levels can lead to weight gain, so practise relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation (冥想), or hobbies that make you happy.

What is the reason for pain? Pain hurts us, but could it be good for us? Is pain in fact helpful? Pain is the body's way to tell us that something is wrong so that we stop what we are doing to protect the body. For example, if you break your leg, pain stops you from walking on it. If you didn't feel any pain, you would continue walking around and you could hurt your leg more. But why does it continue to hurt even after you have stopped walking on your injured leg? That is because your body needs you to rest in order to have the energy to mend the broken bone.
But how does pain work? We have special cells in our skin, in our eyes, and inside our bodies too. When something goes wrong, these cells send messages to the brain. The brain then makes us feel pain so we will stop doing whatever is causing the pain. Put your hand on a hot pan, and your hand's skin cells tell your muscles and your brain. Your muscles are able to quickly move your hand away from the heat. At the same time, your brain gets the message that something is wrong and that you need to care for your hand. These things all happen in less than a second.
But do you know that the brain itself cannot feel pain? In fact, when doctors perform an operation on the brain, they do not put the person to sleep. Because the person does not feel any pain in the brain, it is thought to be much safer if the person is awake while the doctors work.
( ) 12.What is the passage mainly about? BAAB
A.How doctors work on the brain.
B.How pain helps the body protect itself.
C.How the brain moves our body.
D.How the body works.
( ) 13.What does the underlined word “mend” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Repair.
B.Hurt.
C.Mix.
D.Break.
( ) 14.What may happen to people who can't feel pain?
A.They may get hurt more often.
B.They may not be afraid of falling.
C.Their lives may be easier.
D.They may not get hurt any more.
( ) 15.Why is it OK for a person not to sleep while a doctor works on his or her brain?
A.Because the person needs to talk to the doctor.
B.Because the brain does not feel pain.
C.Because people feel more pain when sleeping.
D.Because it makes the brain excited.

A fever—defined as a medical condition in which a person has a high body temperature, over 37℃—is a common sign of illness. Whatever the cause is, here are some things you should remember if you develop a fever. 1.___________

( ) 8.If you sneeze into hands, germs can pass through activities except __________.
A.using lift buttons
B.using door knobs

A.By telling stories.

C.By listing numbers.
D.By sharing experiences.

When you feel a sneeze or cough coming, covering your mouth prevents the spread of germs.
You have probably known that
But how to cover your mouth is very important. You might use tissues(),and put your
used tissues into the bin."If you don't have tissues, you should sneeze into your elbow, not your
hand, even if you are used to doing that,"the doctors advised.
"If somebody sneezes into his hands, those germs will be passed on to other people,or other
objects that people touch,"said Dr Hill.
Germs are most commonly spread by sneezing and coughing. When they land on your hands,
they are passed from hands to things like bills, door knobs ()lift buttons and other surfaces. At
the same time, the people around you can touch them.
"The suggestion was taken seriously about 10 years ago. However, most people didn't pay
much attention to it.That means the adults may have missed the advice. But children are often
taught in school the right way to cough or sneeze,"Dr Benjamin said.
To be clear, people can't keep away fiom all the risks in this way,but it's the best choice. At the
same time,we'd better wear masks and often wash our hands."Hand washing is one of the most
important things people can do to keep healthy,"Dr Hill said.DBBB

What is the reason for pain?Pain hurts us,but could it be good for us?Is pain in fact helpful?
Pain is the body's way to tell us that something is wrong so that we stop what we are doing to
protect the body. For example,if you break your leg, pain stops you from walking on it.If you
didn't feel any pain, you would continue walking around and you could hurt your leg more. But
why does it continue to hurt even after you have stopped walking on your injured leg? That is
because your body needs you to rest in order to have the energy to mend the broken bone.
But how does pain work?We have special cells in our skin,in our eyes, and inside our bodies
too. When something goes wrong, these cells send messages to the brain. The brain then makes us
feel pain so we will stop doing whatever is causing the pain.Put your hand on a hot pan,and your
hand's skin cells tell your muscles and your brain.Your muscles are able to quickly move your hand
away from the heat.At the same time, your brain gets the message that something is wrong and that
you need to care for your hand. These things all happen in less than a second.
But do you know that the brain itself cannot feel pain?In fact, when doctors perform an
operation on the brain, they do not put the person to sleep.Because the person does not feel any
pain in the brain,it is thought to be much safer if the person is awake while the doctors work.
)12.What is the passage mainly about?
A.How doctors work on the brain.
B.How pain helps the body protect itself.
C.How the brain moves our body.
D.How the body works.
()13.What does the underlined word "mend"in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Repair.
B.Hurt.
C.Mix.
D.Break.
()14.What may happen to people who can't feel pain?
A.They may get hurt more often.
B.They may not be afraid of falling.
C.Their lives may be easier.
D.They may not get hurt any more.
)15.Why is it OK for a person not to sleep while a doctor works on his or her brain?
A.Because the person needs to talk to the doctor
B.Because the brain does not feel pain.
C.Because people feel more pain when sleeping
D.Because it makes the brain excited.
