I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good. One hot afternoon, after exploring the city, I felt really tired. I wanted to tell my French friend, Claire, “I am a little tired.” I carefully said the words I’d learned: “Je suis un pue fatigue.” But Claire burst out laughing. My face felt hot. What had I done wrong? Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings; ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad. So, instead of saying you needed a rest, it sounded like you were saying you smelled bad and were tired”. This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say. The same is true in English, for example, “ship” (a large boat) and “sheep” (a woolly animal) sound very similar, but they mean totally different things. Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning - even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes. 24. Why was the author nervous about his holiday in France? A. He was poor at French. B. He never went abroad. C. He had no friends there. D. He was in short of money. 25. What awkward moment did the author meet? A. He met a wrong person. B. He made a pronunciation mistake. C. He was tricked by the locals. D. He spelt a word incorrectly. 26. What lesson did the author learn from his embarrassing experience? A. It is better to stay silent than to risk making mistakes. B. Mastering grammar is more important than pronunciation. C. A tiny error in speech can lead to a major misunderstanding. D. French is the most difficult language for foreigners to learn. 27. How did the author’s experience in France affect him? A He smelled bad and was tired. B. He hated learning foreign languages. C. He no longer considered Claire as a friend. D. He became open to mistakes in language learning. C Have you ever imagined living in the Arctic (北极) where the temperature can reach as low as-70°C? About four million people live in the Arctic, and about 170,000 of them are the Inuit The Inuit have their regular (固定的) houses, but they need to build round houses called “igloos” when hunting. Igloos are made of snow or ice and are warm inside. But they can only be kept for about 50 days. The Inuit get their food from the nearby sea. Eating fish and meat keeps them strong so that they can fight against the cold. But the downside is that they can’t grow enough vegetables because of the cold weather. It is completely dark there for three months every year, which is a period called “polar night (极夜)”. So life can be boring! But the good thing is that old people tell interesting stories during that time. Now ships bring many tourists to the Arctic. The advantage is that it brings more money and job chances, but the disadvantage is that the environment is being polluted. 28. What can we learn from the text? A. There are no tourists in the Arctic. B. The Arctic is dark all year round. C. About 170,000 Inuits live in the Arctic. D. The Inuit can grow enough vegetables. 29. What do we know about “igloos” from the text? A. Igloos are helpful for the Inuit. B. Igloos are very big ships. C. Igloos are made of trees. D. Igloos can be kept for about four months. 30. What do the Inuit usually do to kill time during the polar night? A. They do indoor handcraft work. B. They listen to interesting stories told by the elderly. C. They build igloos for the coming winter. D. They get food from areas close to the sea. 31. What’s the best title for the text? A. Holidays in the Arctic B. Dangers in the Arctic C. Inuit Life in the Arctic D. Tourists in the Arctic D Replika, an AI chatbot companion, has millions of users worldwide, many of whom wake up and the first thing they do is to send “Good morning” to their virtual friend(or lover). This story is only the beginning. In 2024, chatbots and virtual characters become a lot more popular, both for utility (实用性) and for fun. As a result, communicating socially with machines will start to feel less odd and more ordinary—including our emotional attachments to them. Research in human-computer and human-robot interaction shows that we love to anthropomorphize—attach human-like qualities, behaviors and emotions to—the non-human agents we interact with(like friends bots, and therapy bots), especially if they copy cues we recognize. And, thanks to the recent advances in conversational AI, our machines are suddenly very skilled at one of those cues: language. Even though some people may object to over-interacting with smart AI friends, some do listen to their virtual friends. The Replika example, as well as a lot of experimental lab research, shows that humans can and will become emotionally attached to bots. The science also demonstrates that people, in their eagerness to socialize, will happily disclose personal information to an artificial agent and will even shift their beliefs and behavior. This raises some consumer protection questions around how companies use this technology to handle their user base. For example, Replika charges $70 a year. But less than 24 hours after downloading the APP, my handsome, blue-eyed “friend” sent me an inviting audio message and tried to draw me to update my current version to hear more. Emotional attachment is a weakness that can be used as consumption traps for business benefits. Today we are still teasing people who believe an AI system is sensitive, or playing striking news about individual’s falling in love with chatbots. But in 2024 we gradually start acknowledging—and taking more seriously-these completely human behaviors. Because in 2024, it finally hits home: machines are not excluded from our social relationships. 32. Why does the author mention Replika in the first paragraph? A. To illustrate the connection users have developed with AI. B. To highlight the technological advancements in AI. C. To compare Replika and other AI technologies. D. To provide a history of AI development. 33. What does the underlined word “anthropomorphize” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Modernize. B. Commercialize. C. Personify. D. Simplify. 34. What can be inferred if people form emotional attachment to AI chatbots? A. It may cause risks such as privacy disclosure and overspending. B. It will enhance user satisfaction and trust in technology. C. It will contribute to significant improvements in AI technology. D. It might lead to a decrease in social interactions with humans. 35. What is the author’s attitude to the emotional attachment? A. Objective. B. Concerned. C. Indifferent. D. Approving. The three years of high school can produce some of the most memorable moments of your life. After only a month in school, she began to come home often asking for pencils, crayons(蜡笔), paper, and so on. At first, I just provided whatever she needed, never questioning her. After she kept asking for things like pencils and crayons that should have been enough for just six weeks of fourth grade, I got worried and asked her, "Gina, what are you doing with your school supplies?" She would always reply with an answer that satisfied me. One day, after offering the same thing only a week earlier, I became angry with her for asking for more. Knowing her excuses would no longer work, she lowered her head and began to cry. I lifted her tiny chin (FE) and looked into her teary brown eyes. "Mom," she said, "there is a boy in my class, John, who doesn’t have any of the items he needs to do his work. The other kids make fun of him. I talked to Mrs. Melton about it, and she had a wonderful idea. She now keeps a ‘supply box’ filled with donated (捐赠的) notebooks, pencils, and crayons that anyone can use if they need something or forget their own. I put all the extra items you gave me into the box. This way, John will have enough supplies for his studies. Please don’t be mad at me, Mom. " My heart sank and moved. I knelt down and hugged her to me, not wanting her to see my own tears. I stood up and said, "Gina, I would never get mad at you for wanting to help someone. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 on April the 23rd. His father was an important man in town so Shakespeare was well brought up. He got married when he was 18 to Anne Hathaway and the couple had three children. Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 poems. He began working in his hometown but by 1592 wrote in London. He became rich enough to buy a house in the capital and one in Stratford. He wrote sad stories called tragedies, like Romeo and Juliet, funny stories or comedies, romantic stories and stories about historical figures such as Julius Caesar. Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616, more than 400 years ago. Shakespeare’s influence on the English language can still be felt today. It was Shakespeare who came up with many expressions which we still use today, such as “fair play” “You can have too much of a good thing.” Shakespeare’s works have been translated into every major language in the world. And perhaps we’ll still be as fascinated by his work 400 years from now as we’ve been for almost the last 400. 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A The Best Day Trips From Hamilton ·St Jacobs, Ontario Enjoy a mix of traditional and modern on a day trip from Hamilton to St. Jacobs. A. He smelled bad and was tired. B. He hated learning foreign languages. C. He no longer considered Claire as a friend. D. He became open to mistakes in language learning. 【答案】24. A 25. B 26. C 27. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。作者在法国旅行时因法语发音错误,将“有点累”说成“有臭味”,闹了个尴尬笑话。这次经历让他意识到外语发音的重要性,并学会以积极心态对待学习中的错误。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第一段中的“I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good.(我感到非常兴奋,但也有点紧张,因为我的法语不太好。)”可知,作者对去法国度假感到紧张是因为他的法语不好,即他在法语方面比较薄弱。因此,选项A“He was poor at French.(他的法语不好。)”符合题意。故选A。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad.(Claire解释说:“在法语中,有些词发音相似,但意思却大不相同。‘peu’的意思是‘一点点’,但如果你发音不同,听起来就像‘pue’,意思是‘发臭’——就像什么东西闻起来很臭。)”可知,作者遇到的尴尬时刻是发音错误。故选B。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第四段中的“It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say.(这让我意识到发音在外语中是多么令人畏惧。即使发音上的微小差异也可能完全改变你想表达的意思。)”以及后文提到的英语中的例子“ship”和“sheep”的发音相似但意思完全不同,可以推断出作者从这次尴尬的经历中学到了一个教训:语言中的微小错误可能导致重大的误解。因此,选项C“A tiny error in speech can lead to a major misunderstanding.(语言中的微小错误可能导致重大的误解。)”符合题意。故选C。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中的“Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning - even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes.(现在,我会格外注意单词的发音和意思。如果我再把它们混淆了呢?我会跟着一起笑的。毕竟,笑是学习的一部分——即使有时有点尴尬。)”可知,作者在法国的经历让他对语言学习中的错误持开放态度,他不再害怕犯错,而是选择以积极的心态面对并从中学习。故选D。 C Have you ever imagined living in the Arctic (北极) where the temperature can reach as low as-70°C? About four million people live in the Arctic, and about 170,000 of them are the Inuit (因纽特人). The Inuit have their regular (固定的) houses, but they need to build round houses called “igloos” when hunting. Now, ships bring many tourists to the Arctic. Tourists in the Arctic 【答案】28. C 29. A 30. B 31. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了北极的因纽特人生活。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“About four million people live in the Arctic, and about 170,000 of them are the Inuit (因纽特人).(约有400万人生活在北极,其中约17万人是因纽特人)”可知,约有17万因纽特人居住在北极地区。故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“The Inuit have their regular (固定的) houses, but they need to build round houses called “igloos” when hunting. Igloos are made of snow or ice and are warm inside.(因纽特人有固定的住所,但在狩猎时需要建造被称为“冰屋”的圆形房屋。这些冰屋是用雪或冰建成的,内部温暖)”可推知,因纽特人建成的名为igloos的冰屋内部很温暖,对因纽特人有帮助。故选A。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“But the good thing is that old people tell interesting stories during that time.(但好的是,在这段时间里,老人们会讲有趣的故事)”可知,在极夜期间,因纽特人通常会聆听老人们讲述的有趣故事来打发时间。故选B。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段“The Inuit have their regular (固定的) houses, but they need to build round houses called “igloos” when hunting. Igloos are made of snow or ice and are warm inside. But they can only be kept for about 50 days.(因纽特人有固定的住所,但在狩猎时需要建造被称为“冰屋”的圆形房屋。这些冰屋是用雪或冰建成的,内部温暖。但它们只能保存大约50天)”和第三段“The Inuit get their food from the nearby sea. Eating fish and meat keeps them strong so that they can fight against the cold. But the downside is that they can’t grow enough vegetables because of the cold weather.(因纽特人从附近的海域获取食物。食用鱼类和肉类能让他们保持强壮,从而能够抵御寒冷。但不利的一面是,由于天气寒冷,他们无法种植足够的蔬菜)”可知,本文主要介绍了北极因纽特人的住房、食物和生活等内容。由此可知,C选项“Inuit Life in the Arctic(北极的因纽特人生活)”适合作本文最佳标题。故选C。 D Replika, an AI chatbot companion, has millions of users worldwide, many of whom wake up and the first thing they do is to send “Good morning” to their virtual friend(or lover). D. Approving. 【答案】32. A 33. C 34. A 35. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了社交机器人与人之间的问题。 【32题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段中“As a result, communicating socially with machines will start to feel less odd and more ordinary—including our emotional attachments to them.”(因此,与机器进行社交交流将开始变得不那么奇怪,而更加普通——包括我们对它们的情感依恋。)可推知,作者在第一段提到Replika是为了说明用户与人工智能之间的联系。故选A项。 【33题详解】 词义猜测题。根据划线单词后面的“attach human-like qualities, behaviors and emotions to—the non-human agents we interact with(like friends bots, and therapy bots), especially if they copy cues we recognize.”(将人类的品质、行为和情感附加到与我们互动的非人类代理(如朋友机器人和治疗机器人)上,尤其是当它们复制我们识别的线索时。)由此可知,此处为对人机和人机交互的研究表明,我们喜欢拟人化。故可猜测划线单词anthropomorphize为“拟人化”的意思,结合选项C项Personify“拟人化”意思一致。故选C项。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“The science also demonstrates that people, in their eagerness to socialize, will happily disclose personal information to an artificial agent and will even shift their beliefs and behavior.”(科学还表明,人们在渴望社交时,会很乐意向人工代理透露个人信息,甚至会改变他们的信仰和行为。)可知,如果人们对人工智能聊天机器人产生情感依恋,可以推断出这可能会导致隐私泄露和超支等风险。故选C项。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But in 2024 we gradually start acknowledging—and taking more seriously-these completely human behaviors. Because in 2024, it finally hits home: machines are not excluded from our social relationships.”(但在2024年,我们逐渐开始承认——并更加认真地对待——这些完全是人类的行为。因为在2024年,我们终于明白了:机器并没有被排除在我们的社会关系之外。)可推知,作者对情感依恋的态度是赞成的。故选D项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The three years of high school can produce some of the most memorable moments of your life. " The next day, I visited Mrs. Melton and then learned that John’s family had just moved here. John was the eldest of four boys, and their parents were struggling to make ends meet. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 With Christmas drawing near, I became concerned about John and his family. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On Christmas Day, we set out for John’s house. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文 With Christmas drawing near, I became concerned about John and his family. How would they spend Christmas during such a difficult time? Considering this, I decided to help them. Therefore, I told Gina that instead of the usual gift exchange, we would go shopping to select some gifts for John’s family. On hearing my plan, Gina couldn’t wait to choose things for them. Tired but excited, we returned home with the things they would need and carefully packed the gifts. On Christmas Day, we set out for John’s house. Upon arriving, Gina and I carefully placed the gifts on their doorstep. We knocked on the door and quickly returned to our car, holding our breath as we waited for their reaction. Seeing their faces light up with surprise and joy, I knew we had made the right decision. We hoped that our small act of kindness could bring some joy and warmth to John’s family and brighten their lives in the future. 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:help/assist ②挑选:select /choose ③决定:decide/determine ④告诉:tell/ inform 情绪类: ①兴奋的:excited/thrilled ②快乐:joy/pleasure 【点睛】【高分句型 1】Tired but excited, we returned home with the things they would need and carefully packed the gifts.(运用了形容词作状语和省略that或者which引导的定语从句 ) 【高分句型 2】We hoped that our small act of kindness could bring some joy and warmth to John’s family and brighten their lives in the future.(运用了that引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。第一节听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项,并标在试卷的相应位置。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题,每段对话读两遍。Excuse me, I have an appointment with mr.
