However, it’s not uncommon to see waste such as plastic bottles and snack bags thrown everywhere on campus—they are scattered in corridors, on the playground, and even in the drawers. This not only ruins the beauty of our school but also attracts pests, which may cause health risks to us all. To solve this problem, we sincerely call on everyone to take action. First, always put the rubbish into the dust bins and try to sort it if possible. Second, it’s a good idea to remind our classmates not to litter whenever we see them doing so. Third, we appeal to everyone to take part in voluntary cleaning activities regularly to keep our campus spotless. Let’s start from ourselves and work together to build a clean, beautiful campus we can all be proud of! 听力部分录音稿 Text 1 W: I want to learn German this year. Will you still take Spanish? M: No. I will try Russian this time. Text 2 W: Where did you go just now? M: I went to the shop and bought two dozen eggs and two pounds of chicken. Text 3 M: That new building is the new art museum. Quite an unusual building, isn't it? W: I'm afraid I don't think much of it. I'm not a big fan of modern architecture. Text 4 M: Look at you. You are out of breath. W: I ran all the way here. M: Why? Where is your bike? W: There is something wrong with it. My dad is going to have it repaired today. Text 5 W: I can't stand Mike. M: Why? What did he do to make you so angry? W: He smokes all the time. I really hate the smell. M: He is worried about his job interview. You might talk to him about it later. Text 6 M: You don't look well. Are you OK? Don't tell me you're dieting again! W: I'm just trying to lose weight in the natural way. M: In your first diet, you only ate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In the second, you drank 50 cups of water a day! W: Those diets didn't work. I'm on a new diet that will surely make me slim again! I only eat orange-colored food. I've eaten lots of oranges and carrots. M: What? Oranges? Carrots? You must have lost your mind! Text 7 W: Hello, Mr. Brown. M: Hey, Mary. Do you know when the repairman will be here to fix the air conditioner? He was supposed to be here an hour ago. W: I just called to speak to someone in his office. They apologized and said that the repairman was having difficulty finding our hospital. They showed him the way and he should be here a little later. M: I hope he gets here soon because it's supposed to be really hot today. If we don't get the air conditioner repaired by noon, we'd better cancel all of our patient appointments today and reschedule them. Text 8 M: Hi, Maria. What are you up to? W: I'm just trying to plan my trip to Southeast Asia. M: Where are you planning to go? W: Well, I'm leaving from Hong Kong. I have a friend there who I haven't seen for a long time. Then I'll fly to Vietnam and take a bus down to Ho Chi Minh City. M: And then where will you go? W: Well, from there I'll take the boat up a river to Siem Reap and see the famous temples. From there, I'll fly to Bangkok and visit the market. I hear it's really great for shopping. Then I was thinking of just staying on a beach in the south for a while to relax. M: Where are you going to stay in all those places? W: Well, I don't have much money and I don't like tents. So I plan to just stay in small guest houses rather than big hotels. Text 9 M: Waitress! I think there's something wrong with our bill. W: No, I don't think so... $10 for the drinks, $15 for the small plate, and $20 for the main dish. M: What? I knew the cheese sticks were $15. I always order cheese sticks, but I thought the main dish was $10. W: Oh, that explains it. You think the bill should be $35. Didn't you order the sea cucumbers for dinner? M: Yes, and they were delicious. Best cucumbers ever! I'm so glad I'm a vegetarian. W: Sir, I am so sorry. Have you ordered sea cucumbers before? They aren't vegetables, you know. M: Really? I thought they were vegetables that grew in the ocean. W: Nope. They are animals living in the ocean. M: Oh, no! Actually, Jenny took my order. Maybe I can talk to her. W: Sorry. She had an emergency at home. But I'm sure if I talk to the manager, he can give you a discount for the order. M: That's OK. Text 10 M: Hi, everyone! I am Paul, the trip leader for this weekend's activity. We plan to head out to the bay for a beach picnic on Sunday, June 30th. You can buy some fresh fish there and you just need to pay $6 to $10 for each dozen, depending on the size. The beach has a small picnic area with chairs. Except for fish, fish and fish, little is available there, so please bring your own food and drinks. And of course, if you have a special skill to cook fish, show time! We will meet at the student center at 9:00 a.m., and all go together. The bus will get there in two hours, and the time of return is still uncertain. The weather forecast says it's going to be sunny and around 26 °C this weekend. Come to the outing club before this Thursday if you'd like to join us. My telephone number is 408-3228. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. Remember to finish your homework before we leave for the picnic. 判断正误 This is Bob Smith from Channel 13 News. I’m at the scene of a completely unexpected rescue that occurred earlier today. It was about a serious fire, a three-month-old baby, and the baby’s dog, Lucky. The fire broke out at the three-story apartment building behind me. Unfortunately, we’re not able to get any closer because of the possibility of an explosion. However, witnesses say that they noticed fire coming from the building earlier this morning. It was believed that everyone had been moved to a place of safety. There was a woman named Susan O’Connor living in this building. When she returned and noticed the fire, she panicked, realizing that her three-month-old baby was still inside. However, witnesses report seeing the family dog pulling the baby to safety by the baby’s clothes. The baby and the dog were taken to the hospital. I’m happy to say that everyone is fine at this moment including the baby, who is already out of hospital and as lively as before. 听力填空 Recently a five-year study was conducted by the Center for Childhood Development in Los Angeles, California, regarding the way babies react to different types of people. The findings of the study suggest that infant children seem to be more comfortable around other babies than they are with strange adults. The results confirm the ideas of Dr. Richard Perelman, who has written many books about raising children with his research team. Dr. Perelman supports the findings of the study and adds that it is a sounder idea to keep children with other children, as in a day care center, than it is to have children cared for by a baby-sitter. According to the results of the study, whereas some babies seem to show fear of strange adults, they are likely to reach out to try to touch an unfamiliar baby. If the findings are true,it may lead to an increase in the use of family-oriented day care centers where children can spend more time with each other and less time with adults. 1. B As a freshman, I stepped into my first creative writing course by accident, thinking it was a literature class on how to read stories, not how to write them. When the teacher introduced the course, I realized my mistake. The credits (学分) I earned from the course wouldn’t count toward my major. By the end of the session, however, I decided that I had to be a part of the course. Perhaps, as a lifelong reader, I was eager to understand how stories worked their magic. But taking the class would be impossible: I wasn’t even on the waitlist. That’s when the teacher asked for a volunteer to submit the first workshop story. Silence blanketed the room. No one risked eye contact. Whoever volunteered would have to write a whole story in a week. Perhaps they, like me, had never written one before. Seizing my chance, I raised my hand and asked, “If I go first, will you give me a spot in the class?” He said he would. So, instead of keeping my head down and avoiding eye contact, I did the opposite. Years later, I’d completed a degree in creative writing and was working on a novel when a literary agent (经纪人) asked to read the first 50 pages of my draft. But I wasn’t comfortable showing her anything; the novel was far from done. Throughout graduate school, I’d been advised many times not to contact agents until I have a complete draft. In the meanwhile, I knew the beginning of my story was attractive and that the agent might not remember me after a year. So, once again, instead of keeping my head down and avoiding eye contact, I did the opposite. I sent her the first three chapters. A month later, she signed me on the strength of those chapters alone. She has since seen me through the publication (出版) of three novels. Determination, focus, perseverance — the qualities that I consider crucial in getting me into Stanford no doubt helped me become the novelist I am today. And yet if I’d trained my gaze only on the path ahead, I would have missed so many happy accidents, so many beautiful opportunities to look up, raise my hand, and say yes. 4. What made the author finally decide to take the course? A. The popularity of the course. B. Her curiosity about story writing. C. Her confidence in her writing skills. D. The need to get credits for her degree. 5. The author volunteered to write the first workshop story to ________. A. challenge herself B. impress the teacher C. display her talent D. win a place in the class 6. The author sent her first three chapters to the agent because ________. A. her friends advised her to do so B. her story was attractive to the agent C. the agent asked her to turn in the work D. she wanted to get the chance of publication 7. What does the passage mainly tell us? A. Action speaks louder than words. B. Chance favors only the prepared mind. C. Success comes to those who will and dare. D. Confidence leads to growth and fulfillment. C A new environmental project aims to use bicycles to clean China’s polluted air. Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde has partnered with a famous Chinese bike-sharing company to develop “Smog Free Bicycles”. These special bikes have a front device (设备) that collects polluted air as people ride the bicycle to work or to the park. The system cleans the air through the device and gives out clean air around the cyclist. This invention could ease traffic problems in the city and reduce harmful pollutants in the atmosphere. The technology builds on Roosegaarde’s earlier success with Smog (雾霾) Free Towers. The first tower was built in 2007, and a Beijing unit opened last autumn. Standing like huge outdoor air cleaners, these towers create clean-air areas in city parks. Pollutants collected by the machines are changed into small cubes (立方体) — each containing pollutants from 1,000 cubic meters of dirty air. Surprisingly, these cubes are turned into decorative items like rings. Tests by Eindhoven University researchers proved its effectiveness and showed the tower really works. After the success of the Smog Free Tower Project, at the recent World Economic Forum in Dalian, Roosegaarde explained the cultural importance of bicycles. “Beijing was historically known as the ‘Bicycle Capital’ of the world,” he told reporters. “Working with Chinese and Dutch experts, we want to restore cycling not just as transportation, but as a cultural symbol and practical solution against smog.” The bicycle design is still in development for the time being, with full details to be announced this December. Looking ahead, more Smog Free Towers will appear in Colombia and Mexico in the following years. And if the bicycle project succeeds, it could expand to other polluted cities across Asia. 8. What is the purpose of the front device? A. To record travel experience. B. To warn riders about air quality. C. To reduce pollutants during cycling. D. To make bicycles look fashionable. 9. Why does the author mention Smog Free Towers? A. To promote bicycle sales. B. To stress their high costs. C. To explain the technology’s beginning. D. To compare different air-cleaning methods. 10. What do we know about the bicycle? A. It is energy-efficient. B. It has reached customers. C. Its design will speed up riding. D. Its development is still underway. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. Dutch Towers Collect Energy B. Smog-Free Bikes Fight Pollution C. Bike-Sharing Expands Worldwide D. Rings Are Being Made from Polluted Air D Finding trapped people quickly is often the difference between life and death in relief missions. New robot tech is coming to the rescue. Imagine you’re trapped in a collapsed building. Unable to move, you’re forced to wait. Finally, something looks through the crack (裂缝), and you find yourself face-to-face with... a robot? We have to deal with quite a few disasters on our little blue planet. These calamities can range from extreme weather events like hurricanes to other naturally occurring phenomena such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. There are times when people suffer from intentional injuries, even resulting in death. And for most wildfires, they are simply the unfortunate side effect of human activities. Regardless of the cause, for centuries, humans have set out on search-and-rescue missions to save those left in a disaster’s wake. But in the past few decades, robots have taken an increasingly active role in these rescue efforts. They have battled their way through disasters. These mechanical rescuers can range from ground to sea to aerial (航空的) vehicles — including unmanned aerial vehicles that don’t just search through disaster areas for survivors, but provide exploration from above. Beyond that, scientists across the globe are building new, creative types of rescue robots. Many projects still in development draw inspiration from the animal kingdom, mimicking (模仿) designs that nature has perfected to make machines that can move through difficult environments, from robots that look like snakes to a group of autonomous bees. And while many are still years away from being used in actual disasters. 12. Why did the writer use the situation of people being trapped in a collapsed building? A. To tell people the real scene of the earthquakes. B. To stress the importance of waiting in disasters. C. To show how people are disappointed in disasters. D. To introduce a new way of saving during disasters. 13. What does the underlined word “calamities” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Buildings. B. Failures. C. Missions. D. Disasters. 14. What is the advantage of the rescue robots? A. They would take the place of human completely. B. They can carry out missions in different situations. C. They are able to increase very quickly in numbers. D. They don’t have any side effects of human activities. 15. Where do the scientists get inspirations to make robots? A. The various animals. B. The science fiction. C. The personal imagination. D. The severe environment. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Amazing Reasons to Travel Around the World Do you often daydream about faraway places and different cultures? We were staying at a research camp outside “the polar bear capital of the world” — the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada. Taking pictures of polar bears is amazing but also dangerous. Polar bears — like all wild animals should be photographed from a safe distance. When I’m face to face with a polar bear, I like it to be through a camera with a telephoto lens. But sometimes, that is easier said than done. This was one of those times. As Elli and I cooked dinner, a young male polar bear who was playing in a nearby lake sniffed, and smelled our garlic bread. The hungry bear followed his nose to our camp, which was surrounded by a high wire fence. He pulled and bit the wire. He stood on his back legs and pushed at the wooden fence posts. Terrified, Elli and I tried all the bear defense actions we knew. We yelled at the bear, hit pots hard, and fired blank shotgun shells into the air. Sometimes loud noises like these will scare bears off. Not this polar bear though — he just kept trying to tear down the fence with his massive paws (爪子). I radioed the camp manager for help. He told me a helicopter was on its way, but it would be 30 minutes before it arrived. Making the best of this close encounter, I took some pictures of the bear. Elli and I feared the fence wouldn’t last through 30 more minutes of the bear’s punishment. The camp manager suggested I use pepper spray. So I approached our uninvited guest slowly and, through the fence, I sprayed him in the face, managing to scare him away. The spray burns the bears’ eyes, but doesn’t hurt them. With an loud roar (吼叫), the bear ran to the lake to clean his eyes. A few minutes later, the bear headed back to our camp. 第一节 根据文本内容从方框中选择恰当的词并用其正确形式填入文本图示中,每词限用一次,有两词为多余选项 (共10小题;每小题1分,共10分) call danger rush burn frighten bite tear photo return safety push approach For 76 reasons, Polar bears-like all wild animals should be photographed from a distance.
