Teens who are just about to enter high school will face a problem — which sport to choose. Some teenagers have never been involved in organized sports and lots of stress may come into play. If this sounds like your teen, encourage them to try the sport that most attracts them.
Here is a list of some of the top favored sports by teenagers in the USA.
Basketball: It is the most popular sport with almost half a million girls playing in school teams. And more than 5.8 million boys and girls play competitively, choosing it as their favorite sport and playing in school teams. It’s a good team sport.
American football: It is no longer the number one sport played among teenagers, mainly because of the rise of other sports. Some parents believe it to be a dangerous sport but, with the right coach and environment as well as the equipment, it should be perfectly safe to take part in.
Volleyball: It is excellent for girls and is a good game to play in a team. It is the fifth favored sport for girls and they get confidence in the sport. It’s also a good idea to involve them in competitive volleyball.
Track and field: if your teen likes individual sport, track and field is good to take part in. Track and field includes running, throwing and jumping. Track and field can provide a chance for almost any youth to get out and compete.
11. Which sport is the most popular among teenagers in the USA?
A. American football. B. Volleyball. C. Basketball. D. Track and field.
12. Why is American football no longer the number one sport among teenagers?

Luosifen, or River Snails Rice Noodles,is a dish known for its special smell in the southern Chinese city of Liuzhou. Those who try it say they can never forget the magical taste. Combining the traditional food of the Han people with that of the Miao and Dong ethnic groups, Luosifen is sour, spicy, salty, hot and even smelly after being boiled.
Originating in Liuzhou in the 1970s, Luosifen served as an inexpensive street snack that people outside of the city knew little about. Luosifen often shows up in videos by food bloggers and eating show hosts. Some videos of how to make Luosifen have even gained millions of views on the website abroad.
The development of the Internet allowed Luosifen to be well received. According to data from some e-commerce platforms, the turnover of Luosifen this whole year was 15 times more than that of last year’s, with the number of buyers growing 9 times year on year. The largest group of buyers was the post-90s generation.

Like many people, I’m always trying to balance tough work deadlines, cleaning the house, and the endless messages on my phone. Last month, I felt really tired all the time. When I went for a regular (常规的) health check, I found out my blood pressure was getting too high. The doctor suggested that I take a few days off to go on a vacation.
Modern life is often busy, which makes many people feel stressed (有压力的). Studies show that stress is a common problem around the world. The World Health Organization says it affects millions of people everywhere.
Planning a trip can be a good way to relax and feel better. Dr. Jane Smith, a psychologist from Cornell University, says, “You don’t need to travel far or stay away for long. What’s important is to step away from your routine (日常事务) and take a break. Visiting new places and trying new things can make you happy and excited.”
Dr. Smith and her team carried out a study involving over 400 participants (参与者) who took short vacations. They assessed the participants’ energy levels both before and after their trips through detailed questionnaires (调查表). The results showed that 94% of the participants reported feeling more energetic after their vacations. This suggests that taking time off, even for short periods, can greatly improve one’s focus and creativity upon returning to work.
“Taking a trip is important, no matter how busy life gets. It’s good for your mind and body,” Dr. Smith says.
22. What does the author want to show by telling his story?
A. People seldom see a doctor.

C. Staying away for a long time.
D. Stopping regular activities for a while.
24. What were participants asked to do during the study?
A Answer questions.
B. Record their daily life.
C. Pick their travelling places.
D. Visit the hospital for checks regularly.
25. What can be a suitable title for the text?
