When a person loses his or her wallet, it can be a terrible experience. However, a man named Tom showed a creative way to return a lost wallet, making sure the rightful owner could get it back.
Tom found a wallet on a Saturday morning near a supermarket. He opened it and saw an ID card and a bank card. He wanted to give it to the police at once, but it was 5 km away from the closest police station. He worried that if he just left it in a lost and found case, someone might take it away. He decided to find a clever way—it was to make the owner get in touch with him directly without letting the cat out of the bag. So the owner’s personal information would be safe.
He came up with the idea because of the math puzzles (谜题) he loved. He created a code (代码) from the owner’s birth date on the ID. He wrote, “Your birthday is the key!” He posted the note on the noticeboard of the supermarket.
Black Wallet Found
Your birthday is the key! You can call me by solving this:
On Monday, I will send it to the police station.
*Y=year M=month D=day
Later that day, someone called, and finally the wallet was reunited (重聚) with its real owner.
Tom’s method of returning the lost wallet offers a valuable example. It shows that with some creativity and a bit of thinking, we can find practical solutions to problems. Moreover, it shows the importance of using available information, like the birth date on an ID card. This way not only reunites the owner with his or her lost belongings but also shows the power of creative thinking.
21. Why didn’t Tom go to the police station?
A. He wanted to keep the wallet. B. It was too late to go there.

A. The math puzzles he liked. B. A book he read recently.
C. A policeman’s suggestion. D. A TV show he watched.
24. What does the writer think of Tom’s method?
A. It’s careless and useless. B. It’s creative and practical.
C. It’s necessary and must-do. D. It’s personal and mysterious.
25. If the ID card number is 42062620131203****, which of the following might be Tom’s phone number?

Have you wondered how the three Chinese astronauts spend their 6-month life in Tiangong Space Station? The following will explain astronauts’ daily life in space to you.
It’s important for astronauts to keep the balanced diet in space. The food types are no different from ours. Some food can be eaten in their natural forms such as chocolate cakes and fruit. Other food requires adding water, such as juice and soup. Of course, an oven is provided at the space station to heat the food. But there is no fridge, so space food must be kept properly.
After a long day at work, nothing is better than a good night’s sleep! Just like on the earth, in space astronauts go to bed at a certain time, then get up and prepare for work again. When going to sleep, they have to attach themselves, so they won’t fly around or hit their bodies against something. They usually use sleeping bags located in small crew cabins (乘员舱). Each crew cabin is big enough for one person. Generally, astronauts have an eight-hour sleep each day when they finish their task.
Exercise is an important part of every astronaut’s daily life to prevent muscle loss (肌肉萎缩). Commonly, astronauts exercise two hours every day. Lifting 200 pounds on the earth may be a lot of work. But lifting that same object in space would be much easier. That means exercise equipment needs to be special, so astronauts can receive the exercise needed.
Living in space is not the same as that on Earth. Maybe you think it is difficult, but it is just another kind of interesting experience.
26. Which kind of space food are provided for astronauts in space?
①Some snacks. ②Some fruits. ③Juice and soup. ④Hot food. ⑤Ice food.
A. ②③④⑤ B. ①③④⑤ C. ①②④⑤ D. ①②③④
27. What does the underlined word “attach” mean?
A. tie up B. relief from C. circle around D. lie down
28. How does the writer explain what is special about the exercise equipment?
A. By drawing a picture. B. By asking a question. C. By listing some numbers. D. By giving an example.
29. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
(①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2 …)
A. B. C. D.
30. What’s the passage mainly about?
A. How astronauts live in space. B. How astronauts go to space.
C Why astronauts are strong. D. What’s the Tiangong Space Station?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing quickly these days. Since last year, the Large language Model, one important AI technology—has swept across the world and been widely used in our daily lives. Let’s follow Ms. Wang’s typical day to see how AI is being used in people’s daily lives in China.
Ms. Wang is an office worker in her 20s who lives in Wuhan, Hubei Province. She started her day by sitting in front of a made-in-China “magical mirror”. The mirror is controlled by AI and can scan her face and show her health condition in real time.
After breakfast, Wang called a taxi from an app. Then, she used an AI helper to prepare for her work. Her work schedule (日程表) and upcoming meetings information had been prepared by the time she arrived at the office. So she quickly held several short meetings with her coworkers and the information was recorded by an AI chatbot.
In the afternoon, Wang headed to a foreign company (公司) to discuss a possible partnership (合作关系) with the company’s CEO. During the discussion, an AI translator provided real-time translation and made the communication very successful.

I once struggled with schoolwork and got really poor grades in math. So I asked my math teacher for help. She offered me practical and useful study skills, and even helped me review key points after class, so my grades improved quickly. I also argued with my parents because they were rather strict about my studies. Later, I had a talk with them. We then understood each other better.
Growing up isn’t always smooth, but solving problems bravely makes me grow stronger.
