Being a team player is a necessary part of life. Whether it is just within your family, on a sports team or at work, there are few jobs we can do all by ourselves. It goes with a saying that teamwork plays an important role in our team’s development. In my opinion, a team means everyone achieves more together. No one can be the best at everything. When all of us combine our talents, we can be the best.
Well, in fact, good team players share the following qualities. They are happy and optimistic. They celebrate the success and learn from the failure. They are helpful and generous(慷慨的). They are easy going and try to help other teammates. What’s more, good team players prefer to cooperate rather than compete with their teammates.
To make the team work best, it is important to make good use of the team members’ strengths. And then we can find the roles that fit them well. Things like this can be found almost everywhere. For example, in a soccer team, every player has his role. A team works best because every member of the team has his role. To achieve the best balance, there should be a balance of different roles: an expert to solve many problems, a leader to make decisions, a thinker to offer ideas and ways, a doer to finish tasks and get things done.
There’s a saying that goes, “No one is perfect but a team can be.”

The Paralympic Games are an international sports event for athletes with disabilities. Like the Olympic Games, they are held every four years and include many sports, such as swimming, running, and cycling. During the games, many athletes compete with a guide.
Santos lost her sight in the teens. Now at the age of 42, she holds the women’s world record in the 100 meter dash for blind or nearly blind athletes. When she races with her guide, Garcia, he runs to her left. He holds a short tether(拴绳) in his right hand, while Santos holds the other end in her left.
Since 2012, most Paralympic guides have received medals(奖牌) with their athletes. However, their teamwork often goes beyond the finish line. While training daily with Santos, Garcia is also preparing for the Olympics. “I prefer being a guide,” said Garcia. “I feel more pressure(压力) to avoid mistakes and help my teammate succeed.”
A similar story comes from American para cyclist Hannah and her guide, Skyler. Every time Hannah climbs on a bike behind Skyler, Skyler reaches back to hold her hand. “It reminds us we’re in this together,” said Skyler.
Hannah and Skyler follow the same training plan. When training gets too hard, Hannah remembers she is working not just for herself, but for Skyler too. Skyler believes that if she hadn’t begun guiding, she would never have shone so much in sports. “I’m lucky that Hannah chose me to do this, just as I chose her,” she said.
( ) 8. What can we learn about the Paralympic Games from Paragraph 1?
A. They include few sports.

Almost nothing we do in this world is done in isolation(孤立). At work or at play, you’ll find yourself in groups, working with other people: your team at work, a meeting with fellow workers, your family, a holiday with friends, a group of students working together, a group of neighbors wanting to make changes. It is now realised that being able to work successfully with other people is one of the main keys to success, partly because we need to do it so often.
In almost every situation where you’re in a group, you will need a skilled leader. All groups need leaders and all successful groups have good leaders. Groups without leaders or with weak leaders almost always break down. Members of a leaderless group often begin to feel disappointed and helpless. Time is wasted and the tasks are not achieved. There are often arguments and nervousness between people as there is nobody to keep the goals clear. Often group members begin not to come to meetings in order to avoid(避免) more disagreement.
Some people are natural leaders. The well known cook, Antonio Carlucci says, “True leaders are born and you can see them in kitchens.” They’re people who are strong, fair and humorous. Although a lot of people agree that there are some natural born leaders, most people now know that leadership can also be taught. Experienced teachers can train almost anyone how to be a successful leader. Good leaders don’t make people do things in a controlling way. You can learn how to join others, encouraging the whole group to work toward a common goal.
Successful leaders also need to be calm and wise. They need to be able to work out good solutions and make perfect judgments under pressure. Lastly, and probably most importantly, good leaders need to be sensitive, confident and be able to get on well with a variety of people.
( ) 12. People who are born strong, fair and humorous are called ______.
A. natural leaders
B. well known cooks
C. experienced staff
D. successful leaders
( ) 13. Good leaders always have many ways of doing things EXCEPT ______.
A. joining people together
B. encouraging the whole group
C. controlling people to do things
D. leading people to work toward goals
( ) 14. Which of the following is NOT correct according to this passage?
A. One of the main keys to success is being able to work with others well.
B. People will often feel disappointed and helpless if they aren’t with good leaders.
C. Being calm and wise can help leaders make perfect judgments under pressure.
D. Experienced teachers can hardly train people to be successful leaders.
( ) 15. Which of the following can be the best title for this passage?
A. The main keys to success
B. Successful leaders
C. Natural leaders
D. Be sensitive and confident

We all enjoy being part of a group—there’s no better work than teamwork, right? Actually, I disagree. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own, which is a much better fit for me. 16. ______
To start with, personalities(个性) can make teamwork difficult. 17. ______ The team often goes along with this person, whose ideas might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality can make teamwork hard. With several challenging personality types working together, it’s even harder.
18. ______ For example, I was once on a team where we never had as much time as we needed to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together.
A final reason why teamwork is difficult is that there’s often no training on how to work on a team. 19. ______ You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice and they train to play well together.
Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to share it with to see if it really is a great one. Don’t get me wrong—I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past. 20. ______ So, one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM.
根据短文内容,从下列选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项,选项中有一项为多余选项。
A. Here are some ways to make teamwork easier.
B. There’s often someone on the team that puts personal needs first.
C. I began to think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier.
D. I also get to know how good teamwork could be if done correctly.
E. Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging.
F. You can’t just get together in a room and expect to work well with each other.

The idea of teamwork is very important to the success of any team. All coaches talk about working as one unit or as a team that plays as one. Teamwork and unselfishness(无私) create a great team; without them a team cannot play well against other teams. You can have a group of superstars, but if they do not work well as one unit, they are not going to be successful. The team working as one unit is going to be successful. Here are some things to consider when you are looking at your team:
Does your team have agreedupon goals they created as a team?
Do the players openly encourage and support one another?
Do they have open communication with one another, as well as the coaches?
Does each player know what their role in the team is?
Is there shared respect among the players and coaches?
Do the players use words such as “we” when referring to the team?
Have they created a positive team image for themselves?
Does the team as a whole want to improve their performance?
Does each member consider themselves as a “team player”?
A winning team has players that share common goals and a common dream. Teams come together through shared attitudes about a particular sport. They may come together for a number of different reasons, but their goals are the same—to achieve top performance and experience success. The ends may be different but the means by which one gets there is the same—teamwork.
Teamwork is something that must be on top of the list. Every player needs to understand how important it is for them to work smoothly together if they want to be successful. Each player must be true to the whole team and be willing to act unselfishly. When challenges(挑战) come, the team needs to deal with them in a positive manner. A sense of teamwork will play an important part in this. Just remember T. E. A. M. —Together Everyone Achieves More!

To practice it, I'd start each small team chat with a 5-minute “quick share”: everyone says one small thought or problem about our task, and we listen quietly. 作文参考范文
The power of teamwork
Some people like to work alone while others enjoy teamwork. In my opinion, everyone should learn to work with others because teamwork is quite necessary and important.
Last year, I experienced the power of teamwork during our school sports day.
Our class was preparing for the relay race. At first, we didn't train together, and our performance was poor. One day, our teacher told us, “Only when you work together and support each other can you win.” So we started training as a team. We discussed each other's strengths and weaknesses. We helped each other improve and encouraged one another. Finally we won first place!
This experience taught me that teamwork makes everyone stronger. When we cooperate, we can achieve more.
