Do you know that many local languages are disappearing? Some languages are like old songs that nobody sings anymore. Many kids can’t speak their grandparents’ language at all. A girl named Danielle Boyer wants to change that. She created SkoBot, a small robot that can speak endangered (濒危的) languages.
SkoBots look like cute animals. Some wear little hats or bright tutus (芭蕾舞裙). They are made from recycled materials (可循环使用的材料), so they are good for the Earth. A SkoBot sits on a kid’s shoulder like a little friend. Students can build the robots themselves with simple tools. This helps them get hands-on experience (动手实践经验) in a fun way.
Once the robot is turned on, the magic begins. It answers at once when you talk to it. The robot uses recordings made by teachers, so the language sounds real. It can also nod, wave, and move its body. This makes children feel like they are talking to a real person. SkoBots do not need the Internet, so kids in far away places can use them, too.
Boyer made her first robot when she was 17. A few years later, she created SkoBot to help save her language. Many groups are taking action, too. Some teach languages using fun apps and games. Together, these projects give endangered languages a chance to survive.
34. What did Danielle Boyer do?
A. She played with cute animals.
B. She enjoyed singing old songs.
C. She spoke her grandparents’ language daily.
D. She invented a robot to save endangered languages.
35. How do students feel when they build the robots?
A. Simple. B. Fun. C. Hard. D. Angry.
36. Why does the language from the robot sound real?
A. Because the robot is made by simple tools.
B. Because the robot has something special in it.
C. Because the robot is connected with the Internet.
D. Because the robot uses recordings made by teachers.
37 What’s the best title for the text?
A. How a Little Robot Saves Languages
B. Disappearing Languages
C. Chances to Get Hands-on Experiences
D. How SkoBot works

Life is full of changes and chances to learn. Stepping out of our comfort zone (舒适区) can be both scary and exciting, but it often leads to personal growth.
When I moved to a new city, the difference from my old life was challenging. I started working for a smart home company, where my main task was to serve customers and help them understand modern technology. At first, I depended on my team leader heavily. Reaching a new height in my job seemed like a dream far away from me.
One afternoon, a customer asked a difficult question about system security (系统安全). I didn’t know the answer, but I remembered that it would be impolite to simply say “I don’t know.” Instead, I carefully checked the product guide and asked an experienced workmate for advice. We successfully found the answer to the question together.
That day, I learned the importance of a strong mind when trying new things. With patience and hard work, I became more confident and stronger. Now, I always encourage others to face challenges without fear.

How to stay safe
As teenagers, we should always keep safety in mind. But how can we stay safe? I will share some ways of staying safe in my daily life with you.
First, we should be careful when we make friends, especially online. We should not leak personal information or meet them alone. If necessary, we should tell our parents. Second, following the traffic rules is also required for most of the students who rely on public transportation every day. Don’t cross the street at red lights. We should ride or walk on the right. Third, if we are in danger, we should shout for help or call the police for help in time.
In short, if we follow the rules and look after ourselves well, we will be safe and healthy.
