Recently, a Chinese dialect (方言) phrase “ài nǐ lǎo jǐ, míng tiān jiàn” (meaning “Love Yourself, See You Tomorrow”) has become popular on short video platforms (平台) . It has even become a warm secret code (暗号) among young people. This simple sentence comes from a daily moment and shows young people’s attitude towards life now.
The story behind it is simple. A video blogger wanted to eat a grapefruit (柚子) but felt too lazy to peel it. Finally, he peeled it by himself and said this sentence to himself, like talking to an old friend. Though it was a small and casual (随意) thing, the phrase touched young people’s hearts. When life makes them tired, they learn to care for themselves and keep inner (内心) peace. It turns the abstract (抽象) idea of “loving oneself” into specific daily actions.
More importantly, the phrase shows a value shift (转变) among young people. They used to only expect love from others, but now they learn to care for themselves too. They realize self-care is also a kind of romance (浪漫) . Some people think self-care will make young people closed off, but this is not true at all. A person who knows how to care for himself can care for others better. Just like a cup full of water can pour water to others, a person with sufficient (足够的) inner energy can bring warmth to people around him.
In short, the phrase’s popularity is not an accident: It reflects young people’s positive wish for a better life. This warm phrase reminds us: don’t forget to love ourselves when life is busy. If we look after ourselves well, we will face life bravely.
4. How does the phrase “ài nǐ lǎo jǐ, míng tiān jiàn” get popular?
A. By appearing in storybooks.
B. By being taught in English classes.
C. By spreading on short video platforms.
5. What did the video blogger do before saying the phrase?
A. He ate a grapefruit with friends.
B. He peeled a grapefruit by himself.
C. He bought a grapefruit from a store.
6. Why does the writer mention “a cup full of water”?
A. To say that self-care is not useful at all.
B. To tell readers that drinking water is good for health.
C. To show self-care helps people bring warmth to others.
7 What can we learn from the popularity of the phrase?
A. It becomes popular by accident because of a blogger.
B. It shows young people’s positive hope for a better life.
C It proves young people are getting more closed to the world.
C
As of the beginning of 2026, China has stopped making mercury thermometers (水银体温计) and mercury blood pressure monitors (水银血压计) completely. This tool that we’ve used for many years is slowly disappearing from our daily lives.
Why is this rule being made? The main reason is the mercury in these thermometers. Mercury is a liquid metal at normal room temperature. It is very poisonous and can turn into gas easily if the thermometer breaks. Breathing in this mercury gas is bad for our health, especially for kids and pregnant (怀孕的) women. What’s more, mercury can’t break down by itself in nature. It will collect in the food chain and hurt the environment a lot. This rule is to follow an international agreement called the Minamata Convention on Mercury, which is made to reduce mercury pollution.
It’s important to know that the rule only stops production, not using or selling the thermometers right away. Families can still use their mercury thermometers they already have. At the same time, safer substitutes (替代品) are now common in stores. Digital (数字的) thermometers and infrared thermometers are popular choices. They are easy to use and don’t have the danger of mercury pollution. Compared with mercury thermometers, digital ones are more handy-some can show the right temperature in just 10 seconds.
Getting rid of mercury thermometers is a good step for safety and protecting the environment. It shows that we care more and more about our health and the Earth.
8. What does the underlined word “poisonous” mean in Paragraph 2?
A. safe to touch B. easy to use C. dangerous to touch
9. What can families do with their existing (现有的) mercury thermometers now?
A. They can still use them.
B. They must stop using them at once.
C. They have to sell all of them to stores.
10. Why are digital thermometers used widely now?
A. They are more convenient and safe.
B. They can be produced more easily.
C. They are cheaper than mercury thermometers.
11. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To ask people to buy digital thermometers.
B. To tell why China is no longer making mercury thermometers.
C. To talk about how mercury thermometers were used in the past.

My Changes
After the Yongzhou Team won the Xiangchao Championship, I realized what changes I have made.
I used to be the shortest in my class and often left my homework until the last minute. However, over the past two years, I have grown taller and developed better daily habits. When facing study difficulties, I used to give up easily. Now, I try to solve problems step by step and ask teachers or classmates for help. This has made learning more enjoyable and effective.
I believe with continuous effort, we can all become a better version of ourselves.
