Which section of a website is the text probably from? A. About. B. Account. C. Classes. D. Contact. B My husband and I recently returned from a walking trip in Europe. I frequently took out my phone to shoot the fascinating landscapes and happy times, hoping to preserve the memories. Years ago, I would have posted these moments on Instagram to share, and, admittedly, to brag (吹嘘). But this time, I held back. I was moved by the land’s quiet beauty and appreciative of a place going about its business pretty much as it has always done. I realized part of its beauty was that no one else was there. I kept my apps closed and simply walked on. I may be particularly sensitive to overtourism. Having spent much of my life on Martha’s Vineyard, I’ve witnessed how summer crowds and people’s rush to post online change a place. Traffic jams, housing crises, and bacteria-filled ponds! A bakery now has thousands of online followers and ships nationwide, with people unboxing their orders on social media. My once-quiet island clearly needs no introduction now, but I bet even the local sunset would prefer to set without the shutter clicks and the posts. Tourism used to be a pure economic benefit; however, the financial gains are now often outweighed by the stress on the local environment and community peace because of social media. Plus, there are plenty of other good reasons to think twice about one’s travel posts. In a world full of suffering, how cool, really, is my group selfie at this mountaintop resort? Is it safe to post my locations? While I still see the positive side of sharing, I believe the constant advertising of travels ultimately makes a place less enjoyable for future visitors and less sustainable for residents. After our return, our daughter left for a semester abroad. She rarely posts anything online, and shares photos, via text, only if we beg. But I have found a workaround: location sharing and my imagination. In my mind, I am giving her plenty of likes. I have a feeling the city will like her, too. 4. What stopped the author from sharing her travel online this time? A. Dislike for sharing online. B. Loss of interest in photography. C. Respect for local economy. D. Appreciation for the peaceful nature. 5. What is the author’s attitude towards Martha’s Vineyard’s current situation? A. Proud B. Confused. C. Concerned. D. Amused. 6. What might the author suggest people consider about their travel posts? A. The emotional impact. B. The artistic quality. C. The potential popularity. D. The economic value. 7. What message does the author convey in the last paragraph? A. Technology connects families. B. Quiet presence truly honors a place. C. Sharing enhances travel value. D. Location sharing eases parental worries. C Many studies have examined the benefits of being multilingual — that is, of speaking more than one language. Beyond the conversational doors it can open, multilingualism is supposed to improve “executive function”, a loose concept that includes the ability to ignore distractions, plan complex tasks and update beliefs as new information arrives. Most strikingly, numerous studies have even shown that multilinguals may develop dementia (痴呆) about four years later than others, on average. However, not all studies have found the same results, so experts are still not sure how real this effect is. The good news is that it is never too late to start learning a new language, if you want your brain to benefit. A study from 2019 showed that while learning a language as an adult may not greatly boost things like executive function, it does ease age-related decline. The biggest benefits seem to come to those who master their second languages fully. That is usually because they have spoken them on a near-daily basis for a long time. Studies of interpreters show that they have better cognitive (认知的) control through faster language-switting. A bit of university French does not, unfortunately, convey the same advantages as deep knowledge and long experience. But there still exists “a forest of confounding variables”, says Mark Antoniou of Western Sydney University. For instance, a child raised abroad may have cognitive and educational advantages unrelated to multilingualism. On the contrary, studies show that in poorer regions, the advantages of speaking multiple languages are strongest. Researchers believe this is because when formal education is limited, using two languages gives children’s brains a unique form of exercise. Despite these complexities, all studies agree on one clear benefit of language learning: the ability to communicate with people you couldn’t have otherwise. Even if you cannot pick your parents and be fluent from birth, that should be more than enough reason to give it a go. 8. What is a benefit of multilingualism? A. It can cure dementia. B. It can prevent age-related diseases. C. It can ease executive function. D. It can reduce age-related mental decline. 9. Why do those who fully master a second language benefit the most? A. Because they master deep knowledge. B. Because they study the language in university. C. Because they practice the language over many years. D. Because they engage in training to become interpreters. 10. What does the underlined part “a forest of confounding variables” in paragraph 3 mean? A. A group of conditions that help people learn languages. B. A natural environment that is good for scientific studies. C. A number of factors that lead to mixed research findings. D. A set of research methods that are used in forest environments. 11. What is the purpose of this passage? A. To advocate for full mastery of a language. B. To encourage people to learn more languages. C. To discuss the social value of multilingualism. D. To explain the health benefits of multilingualism. D Imagine appearing for a job interview and, without saying a single word, being told that you are not getting the role because your face didn’t fit. You would assume discrimination (歧视). But what if your face really could give useful information about how you might perform at work? Marius Guenzel of the University of Pennsylvania and his coauthors used an algorithm (算法) to analyse the pictures of 96,000 MBA graduates, and extract what they call the “Photo Big Five”, representing five personality traits like neuroticism (神经质) and openness. They then used data on these individuals’ labour-market outcomes to see whether the Photo Big Five had any predictive power. The answer, they conclude, is yes: facial analysis has useful things to say about a person’s post-MBA earnings and tendency to move jobs, etc. However, the predictive power of the Photo Big Five shouldn’t be overstated. The authors say it is only an additional source of information on candidates. The field of AI facial analysis is young. And adoption is likely to be slow as many companies are cautious of the legal risks under anti-discrimination laws. Even if techniques were perfect, there would be other big concerns. Some are obvious: general patterns do not tell you how an individual will perform. Others are hard to notice at first. For example, people are convinced that if they work hard and improve their skills, they can land a job. This belief relies on the idea that effort is seen and rewarded. But what’s the point in self-improvement if your face will always mark you as not serious enough, and nothing you do can change that label? What really matters is whether people preserve a sense of control over their own careers. However good the algorithms get, a chance for a candidate to win over a human interviewer in a hiring process — and for an interviewer to decide for themselves if they want to work with someone — is likely to always be valued. 12. How did the researchers conduct their study? A. They assessed MBA graduates’ income levels. B. They surveyed companies on AI hiring practices. C. They tested how facial features affect interviews. D. They compared candidates’ photos and career data. 13. What can be inferred about the “Photo Big Five”? A. It requires careful interpretation. B. It is widely used by companies. C. It measures candidates’ earnings. D. It determines candidates’ career path. 14. What is a problem about using facial analysis in hiring? A. It shares private information. B. It weakens the value of effort. C. It lacks legal and predictive power. D. It fails to provide useful information. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Can Faces Ensure Fairness in Daily Life? B Can AI Accurately Judge Your Personality? C. Will AI Replace Human Interviewers in Hiring? D. Should Faces Help Determine Whom Companies Hire? Ever woken up from a nap (小睡) and felt more tired? That sleepy, almost-drunk feeling is called “sleep inertia (睡眠惯性)”. ____16____ To avoid that, keep your naps consistent, early and brief. Take your nap at the same time and place every day You don’t want a disorderly napping schedule where you sleep sometimes early, sometimes late, sometimes short. So pick a time and stick to it. ____17____ For example, if you’re napping in your car on your lunch break, bring a pillow, or an eye mask to help boost your nap experience. Nap early in the day From the moment you wake up in the morning, sleep pressure builds in your body to push you to fall asleep again at the end of the day. Napping relieves some of that pressure, so it’s important that you nap early enough in the day. If you follow a conventional nighttime sleep schedule, take a nap between noon and 3 pm. ____18____ Keep your nap short Keep your naps between 10 minutes to an hour at most. You don’t want to remain in the deeper phases, where sometimes it’s a little bit harder to wake up. ____19____ If you find yourself falling asleep quickly and sinking into deep sleep with only 30 minutes, that’s a sign you’re not getting enough sleep at night. That case, take steps to prioritize your nighttime sleep. If you can’t nap, set aside some time to rest ____20____ But there’s still a lot of value in taking an intentional daytime break. So even if you don’t fall asleep in that 30-minute period you set aside in the early afternoon, you’ll still benefit from rest. Closing your eyes, checking out from what you’re doing and having a little bit of “me” time — that is OK. A. Instead, you should keep in the lighter ones. B Some people have to work or study hard at night. C. A good, short nap can offer mental health benefits. D. And use the same sleep environment and be intentional. E. It can slow you down and even damage your sleep cycle. F. Not everyone has the time or the ability to nap every day. G. Any later and you might start to disturb your nighttime sleep. A lynx was tied by a chain in a snowfield, weak and tired. It was Mr. Evans, Lee’s music teacher. “That was lovely music,” Mr. Evans said kindly. He noticed the long wooden flute case Lee was holding. “What a special Chinese instrument,”he said with interest. Lee’s father explained proudly that it was a traditional family flute and that Lee had been practicing the old songs with him. Feeling shy, Lee lowered his eyes and slipped the flute back into his backpack. Smiling, Mr. Evans said, “How about bringing your flute to music class tomorrow? I think everyone would love something different.” Lee felt grateful for the invitation, but uneasy. Other students might think it was strange for a teenager to play such an old-fashioned instrument instead of a guitar or piano. For a moment, Lee caught sight of his father’s expectant eyes, shining with quiet pride in the family flute. He pictured his father’s encouraging nod, proud of their heritage, and agreed softly. On the drive home, Lee kept silent and worried. Sensing his hesitation, his father asked if something about tomorrow was on his mind. Lee stared out the window, muttering (嘀咕) that others might find it strange. He argued nobody played folk music anymore, and that it wasn’t as cool as rock or pop. His father agreed gently that it was indeed unique, but that was precisely where its power lay. Then he stopped the car, and carefully opened an old case. “This flute belonged to your great grandfather,” he said. “During difficult times, he played it to bring hope to our village. In our family, this music is not just about notes — it carries the voice of our history and the strength of our people.” Hearing this, Lee finally made a decision. The next morning, Lee brought the bamboo flute to school. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the performance ended, Lee was flooded with mixed feelings. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高二英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 How much is the shirt? Adults planting their own pumpkin: $25.(费用:第一个孩子25美元;每增加一个孩子可享受10%的折扣。 C。 B My husband and I recently returned from a walking trip in Europe. D 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第二段“I was moved by the land’s quiet beauty and appreciative of a place going about its business pretty much as it has always done. I realized part of its beauty was that no one else was there. I kept my apps closed and simply walked on.(我被这片土地的宁静之美所感动,对一个几乎一如既往保持本色的地方心存感激。 根据第三段“Traffic jams, housing crises, and bacteria-filled ponds! A bakery now has thousands of online followers and ships nationwide, with people unboxing their orders on social media. My once-quiet island clearly needs no introduction now, but I bet even the local sunset would prefer to set without the shutter clicks and the posts.(交通堵塞、住房危机和充满细菌的池塘! 根据第四段“In a world full of suffering, how cool, really, is my group selfie at this mountaintop resort? Is it safe to post my locations? While I still see the positive side of sharing, I believe the constant advertising of travels ultimately makes a place less enjoyable for future visitors and less sustainable for residents.(在一个充满苦难的世界里,我在这个山顶度假村的集体自拍到底有多酷? 故选A。 根据最后一段“After our return, our daughter left for a semester abroad. She rarely posts anything online, and shares photos, via text, only if we beg. But I have found a workaround: location sharing and my imagination. In my mind, I am giving her plenty of likes. I have a feeling the city will like her, too.(我们回来后,女儿去国外开始为期一学期的学习。 B。 C Many studies have examined the benefits of being multilingual — that is, of speaking more than one language. D 9. C 10. C 11. 根据第一段“Most strikingly, numerous studies have even shown that multilinguals may develop dementia about four years later than others, on average.(最引人注目的是,许多研究甚至表明,平均而言,说多种语言的人患痴呆症的时间可能比其他人晚四年左右。)”和第二段“A study from 2019 showed that while learning a language as an adult may not greatly boost things like executive function, it does ease age-related decline.(2019年的一项研究表明,虽然成年后学习一门语言可能不会极大地提高执行功能等能力,但它确实能缓解与年龄相关的衰退。)” 根据第二段“The biggest benefits seem to come to those who master their second languages fully. That is usually because they have spoken them on a near-daily basis for a long time.(最大的好处似乎来自于那些完全掌握第二语言的人。 根据下文“For instance, a child raised abroad may have cognitive and educational advantages unrelated to multilingualism. On the contrary, studies show that in poorer regions, the advantages of speaking multiple languages are strongest. Researchers believe this is because when formal education is limited, using two languages gives children’s brains a unique form of exercise.(例如,在国外长大的孩子可能在认知和教育方面具有与多语言能力无关的优势。 根据最后一段“Despite these complexities, all studies agree on one clear benefit of language learning: the ability to communicate with people you couldn’t have otherwise. Even if you cannot pick your parents and be fluent from birth, that should be more than enough reason to give it a go.(尽管存在这些复杂性,但所有研究都一致认为语言学习有一个明显的好处:能够与原本无法交流的人进行交流。 B。 D Imagine appearing for a job interview and, without saying a single word, being told that you are not getting the role because your face didn’t fit. A It shares private information. B. It weakens the value of effort. C. It lacks legal and predictive power. D. It fails to provide useful information. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Can Faces Ensure Fairness in Daily Life? B. Can AI Accurately Judge Your Personality? C. Will AI Replace Human Interviewers in Hiring? D. Should Faces Help Determine Whom Companies Hire? D 13. A 14. B 15. 根据第二段“Marius Guenzel of the University of Pennsylvania and his coauthors used an algorithm (算法) to analyse the pictures of 96,000 MBA graduates, and extract what they call the “Photo Big Five”, representing five personality traits like neuroticism (神经质) and openness. The authors say it is only an additional source of information on candidates.(然而,“照片五大特质”的预测能力不应被夸大。 故选A项。 根据第三段“The field of AI facial analysis is young. But what’s the point in self-improvement if your face will always mark you as not serious enough, and nothing you do can change that label?(人工智能面部分析领域尚处于起步阶段。 Ever woken up from a nap (小睡) and felt more tired? B. Some people have to work or study hard at night. C. A good, short nap can offer mental health benefits. D. And use the same sleep environment and be intentional. E. It can slow you down and even damage your sleep cycle. F. Not everyone has the time or the ability to nap every day. G. Any later and you might start to disturb your nighttime sleep. E 17. D 18. G 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 根据上文“That sleepy, almost-drunk feeling is called “sleep inertia (睡眠惯性)”. 和下文“To avoid that, keep your naps consistent, early and brief.(为了避免这种情况,你的小睡要保持规律、尽早且时长简短。)” 【17题详解】 根据上文“You don’t want a disorderly napping schedule where you sleep sometimes early, sometimes late, sometimes short. So pick a time and stick to it.( 你不想要一个混乱的午睡时间表——有时睡得早,有时睡得晚,有时时长很短。 和下文“For example, if you’re napping in your car on your lunch break, bring a pillow, or an eye mask to help boost your nap experience. 【18题详解】 根据本段主旨“Nap early in the day(在白天早些时候小睡。)”和上文“If you follow a conventional nighttime sleep schedule, take a nap between noon and 3 pm.(如果你遵循常规的夜间作息,就在中午到下午3点之间小睡。)” 和上文“You don’t want to remain in the deeper phases, where sometimes it’s a little bit harder to wake up.(不要让自己进入深度睡眠阶段,因为在这个阶段醒来会更困难。)” 中的“Instead”体现出强烈的转折对比关系,“the lighter ones”指代上文的“lighter phases of sleep”,和上文“don’t want to remain in the deeper phases”形成正反对照,逻辑连贯。故选A。 【20题详解】 根据本段主旨“If you can’t nap, set aside some time to rest(如果你无法午睡,留出时间休息。)” A lynx was tied by a chain in a snowfield, weak and tired. Smiling Mr. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: The next morning, Lee brought the bamboo flute to school. His heart felt heavy with uncertainty as he entered the music room, where curious glances immediately followed him. When Mr. Evans invited him forward, whispers filled the room. Taking a deep breath, Lee explained that this was a family flute that carried stories passed down through generations. With his father’s encouraging words in mind, he lifted the instrument to his lips, fingers trembling slightly. As the first clear, flowing notes filled the air, the classroom fell silent. To his surprise, instead of laughter, he saw faces bright with genuine interest. Paragraph 2: As the performance ended, Lee was flooded with mixed feelings. He felt pride in his heritage, yet a fear of rejection still lingered within him. Then, enthusiastic applause washed over him like a warm wave. After class, several classmates gathered around, asking more about the flute’s origin. Seeing Mr. Evans’ approving smile and remembering his father’s expectant eyes, Lee felt a surge of pride that outweighed his earlier anxiety. In that moment, he realized this flute wasn’t just something to hide — it was a bridge connecting past and present, and a vital part of his identity to be cherished. 词汇激活 行为类 ①解释:explain/account for ②颤抖:tremble/shiver ③记得:remember/recall ④意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①令某人惊讶的是:to one’s surprise/to one’s amazement ②为……感到骄傲:feel pride in/be proud of 【点睛】[高分句型1] His heart felt heavy with uncertainty as he entered the music room, where curious glances immediately followed him.(运用了as引导时间状语从句,where引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] In that moment, he realized this flute wasn’t just something to hide — it was a bridge connecting past and present, and a vital part of his identity to be cherished.(运用了省略了that的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
