Four children have survived (存活) by themselves in the Amazon rainforest for 40 days. On May 1, their small plane crashed (坠毁) in the forest. Sadly, all three adults (成年人) on the plane died, including the children's mother.
This left the four children on their own in the forest. The oldest sister, Lesly, is thirteen years old. She took care of her younger brothers and sister: Soleiny is nine, Tien Noriel is four, and Cristin is a one-year-old baby.
The children are members of the Indigenous Huitoto tribe (土著惠托托部落). The Huitotos live in the Amazon rainforest. Therefore, the children are familiar with the plants and fruits there. This knowledge helped them survive.
On May 16, people found the crashed plane. They flew in helicopters (直升机) and dropped boxes of food for the children. And about 150 soldiers were sent out to search on the ground.
More than twenty days later, the soldiers finally found the children in a small area in the forest. It was about five kilometers away from the plane. The children were worn out, but they were alive. Everyone was happy to see this miracle!

An old English saying says, "Laughter is the best medicine." One person who certainly would have agreed with this is Norman Collins.
Norman Collins was the editor of a magazine called Saturday Review for almost forty years. In the 1960s, after returning to the United States from a busy and tiring trip to Europe, Mr. Collins discovered he had a rare disease.
In less than a week after he got back, he could not stand. Every move that he made was painful. He was not able to sleep at night. The doctors told Mr. Collins that they did not know how to cure (治愈) his problem and he might never get over the illness. Mr. Collins, however, refused to give up hope.
Mr. Collins thought that the illness could be caused by unhappy thoughts. He did not want to take medicine to cure himself. Instead, he felt that happy thoughts or laughter might cure his illness.
He began to experiment on himself while still in the hospital by watching comedy shows on television. Mr. Collins quickly found that ten minutes of real laughter during the day gave him two hours of pain-free sleep at night.
Mr. Collins left the hospital and he continued his experiment with laughter in a hotel. For eight days, he watched comedy shows on television, read amusing books and slept when he was tired. Within three weeks, he felt well enough to run on the beach for exercise.
After a few months, Mr. Collins was able to carry on his work. He had laughed himself back to health.
