—I agree. At least ________ honest person.
A. an; a B. an; the C. the; an D. a; an
2. Our school pays much attention to the ______ of safety every term.
A. development B. importance C. advertisement D. difference
根据“pays much attention to the ... of safety”结合生活可知,学校很重视安全问题,所以此处指的是安全的重要性,故选B。
3. Joan is ready to help people who are in need any time. ________, she studies very hard. All the teachers like her.
A. Moreover B. Instead C. However D. Finally
【答案】A

4. —Who bought the birthday cake for you?
—Oh! My father made it by ________.
A. myself B. yourself C. herself D. himself

as good as和……一样好,good为形容词;not so good as不如……好;not so well as不如……好,well为副词;as well as和…… 俗语“百闻不如一见”的英文对应表达为“To hear a hundred times is not so good as to see once.”,强调“听百次不如见一次”,用not so good as表示“不如……好”,形容词good在句中作表语。故选B。

A. receive; accepted B. accepted; receive C. received; accept D. accept; receive

A. am making B. made C. are making D. will make
此处是现在进行时be doing,表示现阶段正在发生的动作,且“Carol and I”为复数主语,be动词用are。故选C。
8. The structure of the sentence “He sent me a message.” is ________.
A. S+V+O B. S+V+P C. S+V+IO+DO D. S+V

9. Please read the words carefully. The ________ you are, the ________ mistakes you’ll make.
A. more careful; less B. more careful; fewer

10. —So you mean you don’t like the book?
—________. I like the stories in the book, but I don’t like the writing style.
A. Not at all B. Not exactly C. Maybe D. You are right
Not at all一点也不;Not exactly不完全是;Maybe也许;You are right你是对的。

In the Taishan Mountain scenic (风景) area in Tai’an, Shandong Province, a robotic dog was tested. Its main job was to carry heavy loads (负载), such as rubbish, acting as a “porter (脚夫)” on the mountain and meeting the need for human workers.
Every year, Taishan Mountain receives millions of visitors. These tourists produced nearly 24,000 tons of waste every year. As large machines couldn’t be used and the rubbish had to be collected by hand, it is harder and more expensive to clean and transport the rubbish because of the rough terrain (地形) in the Taishan Mountain.
To solve this problem, the scenic area tested robotic dogs for waste collection. The tested robotic dogs were some of the fastest and most advanced industrial-grade quadruped (四足的) robots on the market. They could cross obstacles (障碍) easily, keep good balance, and carry heavy loads for a long time.
Tests were carried out over three days at the base, middle and top of the mountain. The robotic dogs, with a shelf and box that could carry 30 to 40 kilograms, were tested for climbing ability and load-bearing capacity (承载能力) on the hard terrain.
Results showed that they could reach the top of the mountain from the base within two hours, while the average time for adult tourists not carrying a heavy load was around four hours. Do you find that you learn things faster than your parents sometimes? Congratulations, you could be right!
Scientists at Brown University, US, found that school-aged children learn new knowledge and skills faster than grown-ups. This has something to do with a chemical (化学物质) called GABA in our brains. It reduces brain noise so that we can learn things more easily. It also makes new knowledge stay longer in our heads.
The scientists scanned (扫描) the brains of children (8-11 years old) and adults (18-35 years old) before, during, and after doing a learning task. It turned out that when children learn new things, the amount of GABA rises quickly. But there’s little change in adults’ brains. This tells us why children are better learners than adults.
The finding, the scientists said, should encourage teachers and parents to let children learn anything from riding a bike to playing an instrument and learning times tables (乘法表) in their childhood. It could also be used to help adults learn faster by increasing the amount of GABA in their brains.

Some people think that only school children do not agree with their parents. However, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here is some advice for you to bridge the generation gap
Don’t argue (争辩) with your parents. Don’t talk to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go somewhere to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.
Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!
50. The passage tells us ________ have a communication problem.
A. parents and other people B. school kids and their parents
C. teachers and their students D. parents and children of all ages
51. The underlined phrase “cool off” in the passage means “________”.
A. to make yourself happy B. to get you quiet and relaxed
C. to have a good rest D. to hide yourself quickly
52. If there’s really a generation gap between you and your parents, you’d better ________.
A. have a talk with them often B. keep away from them
C. agree with them all the time D. know about their values
D 51. B 52. A

根据前文“Don’t talk to your parents when you are angry…And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry.”以及后文“Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents.”
根据“Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.” 故选A。

“Keep your eyes on your own paper” is one of the rules that my English teacher has taught. It is an easy rule, but it’s not a rule everybody chooses to follow.
This morning, I had an experience with a “rule breaker” during an English exam. I felt somebody was watching me. I turned my head quickly and saw James, who sat behind me. My eyes caught his and he said in a low voice, “I hope you studied for this exam!” I gave him a smile, not sure if he was joking, and returned to my test. This time I leaned (倾身) a little more closely towards my paper, “I can’t see!” James said.
“What am I going to do? Cheating is wrong.” I thought to myself.
I tapped (轻敲) the top of my desk, hoping for an easy way out of this matter. No easy answer came. I just knew I had to do what I felt was right, even if it made James mad. So I guarded (守卫) my paper so that he couldn’t see my answers.
When the exam ended, I said to James. “Sorry, James, but you know me well enough to understand how I feel about cheating,” I said slowly and softly. But maybe I could help you study before the next exam.”
“OK,” he smiled. “It might not be easy, but I’ll give it a try.”
I felt happy that my friendship with James hadn’t been destroyed (破坏). Mrs. Archer would be proud.

※ Bring a Book: Everyone can bring one or two old books they like. They can be storybooks, science books, or history books. Please make sure the books are clean and not broken.
※ Find a Home: We can use the small bookshelf in the back of our classroom.
※ Borrow a Book: If you want to read a book, just take it. Write your name and the book’s name on the list. Please give it back in two weeks.
※ Share Your Thought: You can put a small note in the book to tell the next reader why you like it.
Why is this a good idea?
·Save Money: We can read more books without buying them.
·Share Joy: Your favorite book can make others happy too.
·Talk More: We can talk about the same book with our friends. This helps us think together.
·Keep it Green: Sharing books is good for the Earth. We use less paper.
This is our corner. Let’s work together to make it great! If you think this is a good idea, please tell us. We can start next Monday!
Let’s share our books and share our world!
Your classmates,
Wang Lei & Li Fang

The robots could work for four to six hours on a full charge. During the tests, the robotic dogs fit over 80 percent of the mountain’s terrain.
Many tourists were attracted by these robotic dogs. Wang Yang, a tourist from Heilongjiang Province, said, “I saw it climbing and took a photo with it. It’s unbelievable.”
42. What is the main job of the robotic dog in the Taishan Mountain scenic area?
A. To guide tourists everywhere. B. To protect the environment.
C. To clean the scenic area directly. D. To carry heavy things like rubbish.
43. Why is it difficult to clean and transport the rubbish in Taishan Mountain?
A. Because there are too many tourists.
B. Because cleaners can’t use big machines.
C. Because the rubbish is too heavy.
D. Because the tourists don’t help the cleaners.
44. Which of the following is not mentioned about the robotic dog?
A. Its appearance. B. Its capacity. C. Its colour. D. Its function.
45. What can be inferred from Paragraph 5 about robotic dogs?
A. They are more suitable for long-distance mountain climbing.
B. They may greatly help solve the problem of rubbish collection.
C. They can make 6 round trips on the mountain with a full charge.
D. They can do the work of all humans in mountain-related work.

46. What does the underlined word “it” refer to (指的是)?
A. The scientist. B. GABA. C. Learning task. D. Learn things faster.
47. Why do children learn faster than adults?
A. There is some GABA in children’s brains.
B. There is more GABA in children’s brains than in adults’.
C. Teachers and parents encourage children to learn more.
D. GABA in children’s brains grows in amount quickly.
48. What can we know from the last paragraph?
A. Parents could help children learn more.
B. Adults could learn as much as possible.
C. Teachers should teach adults more than they could.
D. Teachers should teach children according to their level.
49. What’s the best title of the text?
A. School-aged children learn new knowledge slower
B. Grown-ups learn new knowledge slower
C. The reasons why children learn new things faster
D. The reasons why adults learn new things faster

Of course your parents might refuse to compromise on something.

When the exam ended I said to James.
