as I'm concerned,poems,conveying certain feelings,can vividly transform
reality into literary art, through which we can exchange our feelings an
thoughts with friends, and relax ourselves.Only if we love life will we never
run out of our inspirations. So it is necessary and essential for us to enjoy
nature and taste life wherever we are and whatever happens.

“Nurture relationships.(培养关系)”。D项“Set up and maintain a
support network before you need it..(在你需要之前建立并维护一个支持
网络)”具体讲解如何培养关系,起到概括和解释标题的作用。
38.A设空处概括本段内容,为本段小标题。设空处与其他标题格式保持一
致,即应是祈使句。根据后文“Optimism and resiliency go hand in hand.
Some may appear more naturally optimistic than others, but optimism can
be developed,(乐观和适应力是有连带关系的。有些人可能看起来比其
他人更天生乐观,但乐观是可以培养的)”可知本段主要讲的是要乐观。
A.Seek the bright side.(寻找光明的一面)概括本段内容。
39.E根据上句“Instead of focusing on tasks that seem unachievable, ask
yourself,‘What's one thing I can accomplish today?'(与其把注意力集中
在那些看似无法完成的任务上,不如问问自己‘今天我能完成的一件事是
什么?’)”可知,要做好今天能完成的事,设空处应介绍这样做的好处。E
项“That may help you progress in the direction you want to go.(那可能
会帮助你朝着你想去的方向前进)”承接上文,说明这样做的好处。
40.F根据后句“It may gradually optimize(优化)our adaptive systems.
(它可以逐渐优化我们的适应性系统)”可知,F项“Everyday stress helps
us learn how to face bigger challenges.(每天的压力帮助我们学会如何面
对更大的挑战)”与下文衔接,说明每天的压力的好处,下文中的“t”指代
F项中的“stress'”。

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 20th annual Roger Ebert's Film Festival,a special event in
partnership with the University of Illinois College of Media, the greater Champaign-Urbana
community, and movie lovers everywhere.Little did we think, back in 1999,that our experiment in
reinventing the film festival-to make a festival that celebrated overlooked films and the women and
men who made those films-would become a landmark annual event in the life of our community and
contribute to the repairs of the remarkable Virginia Theater.
In selecting the films for this year,Chaz Ebert and I looked to women filmmakers for our
inspiration.Fully half of our films are either directed or co-directed by women, and several others have
women in powerful producing roles.Films directed or co-directed by women include 13th,directed by
Ava Du Vernay,Belle, directed by Amma Asante, and American Splendor, directed by Shari Springer
Berman and Robert Pulcini. And women producers include Lynda Obst and Emma Thomas
(Interstellar)and Ruth Ann Harnisch and Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Columbus).
Our opening night film is The Fugitive, directed by Andrew Davis,a graduate from the
University of Ilinois. Our Saturday night film is the classic The Big Lebowski. Our guest will be the
Hollywood master Jeff Dowd. And of course the Alloy Orchestra will be back, this year with A Page
of Madness, the classic Japanese silent film.
We would like to thank our sponsors, volunteers, festival pass holders, and individual ticket
holders for their welcome participation. We look forward to your unwavering support to make our
festival more successful each spring in central Illinois. We especially want to thank the University of
Illinois for their loyal support year after year.

Video conferencing has been around for more than 20 years.Until the COVID-19 pandemic,
though, you would find that many people needing to attend a meeting remotely would be calling from
a real conference room full of their teammates.Today,we're routinely holding video conferences that
are 100%virtual.And this is creating a problem that technology can't fix.
The problem is us,specifically the fact that we haven't evolved socially to the point where we can
bear much separation. So much of our well-being and work productivity is decided on how close we are
physically. The removal of that for any period of time can be severely damaging. One surprising victim
of social distancing is laughter.
Normally people laugh about 18 times per day.And 97%0 of that time we're laughing with
others-we are 30 times more likely to laugh with others than to laugh alone.Think about it:how
often when you and your friends laugh at something that is actually funny?Research shows that 80%
of what people laugh at is really not that funny.
So why do people laugh? They laugh in order to laugh with others.Just as everyone starts
yawning when just one person yawns, most people can't help but laugh when those around them do.
This is why TV comedy shows often use prerecorded laugh tracks.
Laughing in response to other people's laughing is not just a behavioral phenomenon. When we
laugh, our body produces two key chemicals:endorphin which helps relieve pain and sets off feelings
of pleasure, and dopamine which can improve learning, motivation and attention. In fact, studies show
that people can stand 15%0 more pain simply by laughing for a few minutes beforehand.Laughter is
also associated with higher motivation and productivity at work.
In today's home-alone,virtual-team world, this is exactly what you as a team leader should be
doing:for your team members to stay healthy and productive, you need to get them to laugh more and
stress less.

The student years are not only about books and lectures. This wonderful period of time makes
students'transition()to adult life easier.Students learn how to live by themselves, and network
with professors and other students. Moreover,if they choose, they can join a student organization.
One of the university's main purposes is to prepare students for an intellectual job.Student
organizations'functions are consistent with that.Usually, such an association on campus carries on
many projects that can have a positive impact on students'life. These can be inspirational speech
events and many other non-profit activities. All these interesting projects require more than just
students being present. Each of them has to go through various developments regarding management,
digital design, finding sponsorships, organizing events and many others. These will be valuable enough
to land them amazing work.
Besides material effects mentioned above, researches show joining a student organization helps
psychological development. It is indeed difficult to deal with both extracurricular projects and studies.
However, this routine is serious training for their adult life. They will come to understand better the
importance of their lectures without which they can't complete complex tasks,so they will become
more committed to their collegiate education.
Once they get involved in a student organization, however,it's more than likely that they have to
participate in weekly and monthly meetings and contribute their own efforts to lots of projects.Since
these activities will have a huge impact on students especially off campus, many students will place
extracurricular duties above college courses.
Anyway, the impacts vary in number and effectiveness depending on students'intentions.
However, one thing is for certain.Such organizations will provide an unforgettable experience that
will unlock their full potential and deserve a shot.
32.Why do student organizations benefit students'future career?
A.They teach students to manage projects.B.They inspire students to value education.
C.They have students try different jobs.
D.They help build up a network of contacts.
33.What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.Pressure from study.
B.Influence off campus.
C.Problems of time management.
D.Cause for joining the organizations.
34.What is the author's attitude to joining student organizations?
A.Skeptical.
B.Opposed.
C.Ambiguous.
D.Favorable.

Sleep disorders and insufficient sleeping hours have become more distinct in recent years.
Previous reports released last month showed that more than 38 percent of adults suffer from insomnia
(失眠),with the rate climbing each year.36
A new study surveyed more than 14,000 people across the country on their sleep and exercise
habits.37 While one in five people in the world have signs of a sleep disorder, only one in ten who
exercise regularly report problems of sleeping.
People who own long-sitting lifestyles are more likely to suffer insomnia.38 A key step
toward returning to normal lives should be going outdoors more often and working out more
regularly.
39 Exercising for at least half an hour daily is a factor that can contribute to high-quality
sleep at night. The study also found that some exercises such as swimming, boxing and working out
more in the morning are some of the key factors that contribute to high-quality sleep at night.People
who prefer playing balls and sit-ups report longer periods of slow-wave sleep,or deep sleep.
Long-term sleeping less than seven hours for most adults will increase the risk of sudden death
by 26 percent.40 Therefore, more time spent on sport everyday matters much to your health.
A.Sound sleep at night is also closely linked to enough sport time.
B.The reason is that their inactivity disturbs the biological clock.
C.And the number of people who can't sleep well is increasing sharply.
D.It indicated the obvious link between sleeping hours and the exercise habits.

Treasure
Live your life with starry gaze,
And wonder not of sunlight's rays.
In the stillness of the early day,Bailey could hear the clock ticking and the morning birds
announcing their presence with a cheery chorus. After a minute,he became aware that his grandpa had
taken a seat on the edge of the table next to him.

"Did you do this for me?"he asked his grandpa in a small voice, although he knew the answer.
His grandpa's eyes twinkled happily and he patted Bailey on the knee.
“What do you think this last riddle means?”
"I think'Treasure of my sweetest child'might be me since my mum is your daughter and her
name is Candy which is sweet.I think I'm her treasure because I'm her kid."
"You're a smart boy,Bailey."The old man suddenly seemed familiar,priest-like.
“What do they mean, the last two lines?”
“What do you think they mean?”
Bailey thought for a moment, his fingertips tapping out a soft ostinato on the wooden table they
sat on.
Live your life with starry gaze,
And wonder not of sunlight's rays.
He knew his grandpa had lived his life as an astronomer and had recently retired from his job
lecturing in science for a prestigious(有声望的)university.
Live your life with starry gaze,
And wonder not of sunlight's rays.
Seeing his grandson struggle to make sense of the last two lines, the old man offered these
words,"When you were solving these riddles, did you ever stop to ask yourself what treasure lay at
the end of your quest?"Bailey's eyes widened."No,I-I was having too much fun.It didn't matter
what was at the end.”
